Nexus 5 randomly turns itself off and wont restart
I have a Nexus 5 bought from Google December 2015. Recently my phone would randomly turn itself off, and I could only reboot it if the charger cable was attached. After some trial and error, I discovered that the random shutdown only occurred when I was viewing any web page. Searching the internet I discovered that this problem appeared to be a major problem with a large number of people experiencing similar issues. I initially contacted Google support and followed their instruction, but the problem remained. Google suggested I send my phone to SBE Ltd which I did. Eleven working days after sending my phone by next day delivery, I contacted them by phone 25th May 2017 which took over 40 minutes to speak to someone, and they advised me that as it was out of warranty my only option was to send the phone to SBE. This I did on 30th May. I received my quotation 6th June 2017 which stated that faults were found regarding "Battery - life short". On 15th June 2017, as I had not heard anything from SBE and called once again. Another 40 minute marathon waiting for someone to answer, who then told me that they could not repair the phone and there was nothing they could do, and would I like it returning. Nothing personal, but the staff at this company are very unwelcoming, close on rude. I received the phone a few days later. The back of the phone had not been fitted back together properly, and the 2 middle retaining clips had been snapped off. So here's the crunch. SBE could not do anything for me, and yet I was able to repair it by purchasing a new battery. The phone is now working perfectly. SBE on their initial inspection found a problem with the battery, but did nothing. Absolutely useless, and a waste of my time and money.
