SDL Review for professionalism
I have worked with Ross Finlay for a few years on various projects, all be it via email correspondence or phone conversations I can confirm Ross is very pro active regarding actioning issues or defects and getting important works and projects complete. working in a demanding industry is difficult so I can appreciate all the good work he is doing. I have never had any problems with Ross or the office team I have had to email or deal with, they have always been professional on the phone or email to myself and staff.

Good experience from SDL and their experienced Property Manager and support team
I have received a great service from Ross Finlay from SDL. Always knowledgeable, patient and able to make a decision when needed to ensure things continue to operate as they should. My direct dealings with the office team have always been good with a real focus on resolving health and safety issues.

Ross Finlay at SDL
I have found Ross Finlay a knowledgeable and diligent property manager working in what seems to be a challenging industry. Clear decisions and communication is excellent support.

Worst company in the UK
Giving these guys 1 star is generous, Trust Pilot should add a minus 10 stars function specifically for these charlatans. They are a complete embarrassment.

Completely shambolick company
Completely shambolick company. They do not sent invoices and then they want to take you to court for not paid invoices. They incorrectly address invoices. Despite asking for correction of invoices, they do not do that and instead they will send you letters of arrears. Avoid. Should be challenged in court.

Would give zero stars if I could.
Unfortunately we moved into a new build housing estate and the developer picked SDL to be our management company. In my opinion incompetent doesn’t even begin to describe the company. We have had a number of different “estate managers” and now the estate manager (I have been asked to remove her name as it’s been flagged to Trust Pilot for including a name) who ignores emails and calls for as long as possible. I now copy in her manager who also ignores emails until the point they’re very blunt and ask when will I ever receive a reply. Never have I dealt with any company who would think this was acceptable. To top it all off they put their fees up this year. I should start submitting admin bills for the hours of my life wasted chasing them to do the job they charge me for!
In my opinion they hire incompetent contractors who I have seen blow leaves into the road or cut down the wild flower meadow, which was part of the approved plans and a feature of the estate, realised their error so leave the grass to grow instead for the rest of the summer.
The SDL 360 portal is useless, a lot of open cases and none have actually been resolved. They do try to close these without actually rectifying the issues, so you need to ensure they’re reopened.
My biggest problem is they accepted the handover of various parts of the estate that weren’t quite finished. The developer now won’t complete the works as SDL have accepted to maintain them in the unfinished condition, so it looks like the mugs who thought it would be their dream home are left to pay for, again in my opinion, SDL’s incompetent actions.
Since edited to remove her name, I will add that SDL have handed in their notice to manage our estate and handed us back to the developer. So they don’t do their jobs and then quit when it becomes clear that residents won’t stand for poor service.

All they want is your money
Tried to call to discuss queries as due to move house soon. The call wasn't able to continue as the representative phone line was garbled - was clear but as soon as I raised an issue - silence and then garbled responses.
Tried to contact on the SDL360 platform, the first response was "pay £x".
On their site it says for estates:
"We look after your money, budget and spend carefully to ensure that you get value for money but also no surprise costs down the line."
Trying to find out about their "sellers pack" but no one is telling me how much this will be. Another person on the estate shared the cost of £360 for an email & PDF pack. This is the definition of Surprise cost - despite the administration charges being included with the estate charges.

Awful company.Dont do the work…
Awful company.Dont do the work contracted to do.
You can't call them ,when you email them ,they promise to contact you ,they don't.
Then when you don't pay because of there work ,you get a £60 fine.

Unprofessional and Unacceptable
My opinion of this company is that they provide a very poor service in managing properties. Even to the extent that work is sometimes not even carried out but they continuously chase you for payment.
I had the unfortunate experience of dealing with a "property manager" named Laura Nelson. I emailed her several times where she ignored my emails and never replied. Then when it is time to chase for money she suddenly began to respond. She simply dismissed all of my concerns by bombarding me with reports.
According to Laura Nelson it is acceptable to leave a large fence panel (the size of a house) which surrounds our area for a couple of months to repair.
She also came up with absurd claims that wild flower areas can only be cut twice a year.
I really feel unfortunate that the property which we bought is managed by this company.
I actually feel like I'm being scammed by this company and forced to pay for nothing.
If I could leave 0 stars I would
If I could leave 0 stars I would.
I wrote to SDL stating the name on the bill sent to our house was incorrect, we're happy to pay if the bill is in our name.
That was in July and now we've received a solicitors letter with £450 in fees added.
What on earth is going on?

Staffed by morons
Literally staffed by money grabbing morons.
Our estate has pretty minimal service for which we are being fleeced. Repeated requests for detailed bills have been ignored, despite this being a valid legal request, and the bills go up every year with no evidence of work completed. Also fail to secure 3 quotes as per procurement rules and have blocked attempts by the estate householders from setting up the estate management company as allowed in our TP1.
Sooner SDL go out of business the better.

The 36th BAD review
This company has the worst communication and customer service I have ever seen. They simply don't respond to you and never answer your queries. All they want is your money. They will have capacity to promptly follow you up with letters demanding payments and will even dare to add extra charges for late payment but will not answer phone calls, reply back to emails or even turn up to meetings and above all, they will not deliver half of the services they should deliver. They also go the extra mile and threaten their customers with referral to solicitors and legal action if they dont pay, shame on you! I think they are the ones who need to be referred for legal action.
Please dont reply back by saying that you are sorry to hear that because if you are you would have replied back to my emails. I did give you two weeks to reply, the same amount of time you are giving your customers to pay for services they never get and in lockdown!

Exemplary and efficient service
As a director of a residential property management company, I had a number of concerns about H&S and security issues. I contacted James Ironmonger and everything was sorted within a couple of days. The service was exemplary and James was efficient, polite and professional.

SDL is the worst company in managing the property
SDL is the Worst company in managing the property. Don't use them even if you are desperate. They can't even do the basic task, like cleaning nevermind any maintenance. Asked them to clean the car park in 2019 still waiting for any action , Carpark if flooded no action is taken in two weeks. The carpet is stained due to lack of cleaning. They have ruined our expensive apartments. We are ashamed of asking anyone to visit.

Total Shambles of a company
Appalling company which treats it's clients like garbage. Charging me unwarranted fees for arrears and solicitors charges for their own shortcomings when they did not send me the service charge invoice in the first place. They promised through solicitors that they would complete a fire risk assessment at the block of flats, no evidence of this to date. They are ripping people off; no communication when contacted and no regard to formal complaints made. This should not be allowed to continue. I give them zero ratings but trust pilot only gives 1 star as the lowest.

Un co-operative, Inefficient charge for doing minimal in terms of remit
Company delivered poor service consistently with little regard for their remit in managing small area of vegetation on private development. Development as a result has become very shabby and in real need of costly work to bring to reasonable standard again. Of no surprise we have ceased the arrangement with SDLPM and would warn others to caution if considering ...no shock at all to see their appalling rating.
