Don't try to get a mortgage with Clydsdale. 8 weeks of waiting with no update. Went elsewhere and got approved in a week. Shouldn't be allowed honestly.

Liars and totally untrustworthy
I can fully understand why they have such a poor rating!
My experience is that they are incompetent, dishonest, inefficient, tell lies, make offers which they then withdraw as they were 'incorrect', charge unnecessary fees, etc, etc. Not once have they denied nor defended these actions. What is more worrying is that I reported them to the Financial Ombudsman and they found that they had done nothing wrong!! Guess who funds the Ombudsman - yes, financial institutions!!

Difficult as a customer, even more difficult when leaving...
I have used Clydesdale for a business account for around two years, and it has never been easy. Recently I had issues making payments and was, on at least three occasions, given incorrect advice. This meant I had to use a personal account for business purposes. Nobody really treated the situation with any degree of seriousness. Ultimately I ended up closing the account to ensure I had funds from the business account available. When doing so, they gave me incomplete advice on how to do this, which further delayed matters. I asked for a refund on the monthly charges, given they had failed to deliver in exchage for these charges. The business banking team said they would review this and respond, but that they could not give a contact name or reference. I have heard nothing at all back. I have tried to raise online through the website - and then received two different reference numbers (which I queried). Again, nothing at all in the two weeks following. I have tried to call but given up after over 20 mins listening to hold music. I have wasted days of my time for what should be very straightforward business transactions. I would strongly recommend avoiding Clydesdale at all costs. They are very difficult to deal with and you will find yourself explaining issues time and time again and not being taken seriously. It's like ringing an IT department and being told "have you tried turning it off and on again?" Awful.

Terrible experience with the bank- the locked my account and no one could tell me why! 5 days with no access to my account or card and the only solution given to me is to "go to a branch "which is GREAT help when you are stuck in a foreign country with no way to get home.
Terrible customer service
Terrible customer service, I got conned out of £50 and these robots won't help. Pathetic, moving banks asap
All Branding No Substance
Now that they have been taken over by Virgin, branding appears to them more important than customer service . You can see that in the pictures online which are all of people smiling and looking at their phone . But if you have to go into a branch its a nightmare as they have so few left. It takes a very long time to get through to someone on the phone too. So if you just want a bank that wants you to do everything online for yourself than this is the bank for you - the money they save by closing down branches will just add to Branson's retirement fund. My elderly Mum has banked with them for 55 years but because we have moved her current account to a bank with a branch she can actually walk to (but left the money in her savings account with Clydesdale ) they now wont give us some replacement statements from a few years ago until we go into the branch ( a 15 min drive ) and pay 5 pounds per statement. I am still waiting for the Complaints Department to ring me back

Really disappointed in moving to Virgin. New nasty bank card.Current account now called Club M Current, no idea what it is supposed to mean. Worse of all Richard Branson is paid £12 million a year by the bank for using the name Virgin.
Not met anyone who is happy with this takeover. Looking at moving just not sure which bank to move to.
Absolutely dreadful service. I'm sick of being stuck in queues that never get answered.
Absolutely dreadful service.
Clydesdale bank / Virgin Banking is one…
Clydesdale bank / Virgin Banking is one of the worst banks I have used (more than 10 years) If there was a zero stars I would put that and write to make sure people know how bad they are
They cut your internet access off regularly and today have made a decision (WITH NOTICE) to withdraw my personal account from my business banking internet so today I cannot get access and will need to re-apply (will take 3-4days) and I will have no access!
If you call you wait 25-30mins and all you get is a sorry this is an improvement they are making! Do yourself a favour and use another bank.
There general banking is poor ... there customer service is poor .... and they put up charges whenever they can
TRY TO AVOID
What a joke
What a joke - I have asked THREE times for a business bank paying in bank over the last month - still not received. Absolutely dreadful. Poor customer service as well - takes ages to get though. Avoid!
Worst ever internet banking experience!!
We have several bank accounts operated online with no problem over years. Our experience with this bank is undoubtedly the worst. We have contacted their ''customer service' many times but all a waste of time. Honestly, I am surprised that banks like this are allowed to operate internet banking. It was a mistake to invest with this one.
Hi this bank is a joke.
Hi this bank is a joke.. I am not wasting any more time with them. Going to branch to get the money transferd. This has been stuck with the bank for 10 years or more.. Good bye dont hold Ir breath for me to return. Clydesdale Bank..

they now own VirginMoney which gives an apalling service and doesnt care so making sure I leave a review for both companies.... not that they care but I'll be closing my accounts and taking my business elsewhere! Bye!!!
Why has the online banking become a non-entity
Why has the online banking been un-accessible for over 2 days? I totally rely on the online banking, so I have had no access to my transactions etc. It is not good enough .. I thought it was going to improve when Branson took over, but in my view it has gone further down the hill!

Good and straight forward service from my experience . Customer service sorted things efficiently.
Clydesdale has caused me a lot of…
Clydesdale has caused me a lot of stress over the last 2 years and I should have left them ages ago. The first big stress was when I was hacked and they didn't believe that I hadn't given the hacker the information needed for the hacker to do this. So they refused to confirm that they would refund me the lost money. Luckily I had the telephone evidence on my iPhone which backed up my version of events so they did refund me. The second time was a few weeks ago when I was buying a house. I went in person on a Friday afternoon to their Kensington branch with identification and filled in the appropriate CHAPS form for Clydesdale to transfer the money first thing on Monday morning. We were in a chain buying the house so quite a few people were waiting for the money to come through. By 11.00 am still no money. Rang Clydesdale who said that they couldn't find the form and that nobody was answering the telephone at the Kensington branch so they couldn't help. To cut a long story short after several stressful calls the money came through at 3.00. They call themselves a bank! They are totally inefficient and I would not recommend them to anyone. I could go on about how long you have to wait to talk to someone and when you do, they have to put you through to someone else which involves another 30 minutes waiting listening to their annoying music which now just hearing it causes my stress levels to rise. If I could I would give them no star at all in a review.

I have been a CB CUSTOMER for over 30 years. I am sick of them, closing branches , terrible customer service and telephone banking is shocking . Tried to reset my APP password, 3 phone apps, waiting between 30 and 45 min per call , and given crap instructions and wrong information. I am done with them .. oh and this is with personal banking...
Top notch.
I seem to be alone on this. However, Clydesdale bank have only ever been awesome with me and my business banking. Always prompt and professional, but will talk to you like a real person.
This bank were certainly a more traditional bank before, but they have vastly improved and provide better and quick support than the supposed challenger digital banks.
The chap I most recently dealt with, Brian, was nothing but helpful!
AVOID THIS BANK
Customer service agents are an absolute joke, rude and abusive, not to mention they are liars and im having to see lawyers over their gross negligence
Clydesdale Bank are old fashioned and…
Clydesdale Bank are old fashioned and not in a good way. Every interaction you have with them is complicated, takes ages and regularly the service isn't allowed. For example I recwnt had money sent to me in error by a company and I wanted the cash returned to sender. This should be a simple transaction carried out by the payments team. At Clydesdale you can't speak to the payments team...in fact nobody can. As such I had to set the sender up as a payee on my account which took 20 minutes of listening to awful hold music and embarrassing fraud messages. I was then told I can't transfer more than £5000 a day...and again nobody can. No manager could help. So after 27 minutes on the phone I had to then do the payment in two parts by myself over two days (another 40 minutes in queues) to then have my account blocked by the fraud team. The fraud team then called the next morning which sounded suspicious, so in asked for a number to call them back on, they didn't have one so had to go through 20 minutds waiting for telephone again. You couldn't make it up. I implore you to use any other bank or building society. They even have an antiquated lending policy, they won't lend to people paid mainly in dividends but are happy to take their money. A joke of an organisation and will now be fronted by Richard Branson's Virgin brand, which is also baffling as Richard Branson is awful. Perhaps they are ideal for one another.
