Ordered 2 dresses, when received were not as described. Very poor quality. Attempted to return one. Very expensive to return to China. Followed it and saw it sitting in customs then being delivered to a floor in some building as per address given. Wrote it off only to have it returned to me 7 months later. What a scam I had well and truly fallen for it.

Like others have said - I wish I'd read the reviews before buying. The actual dresses are NOTHING like those advertised. Absolutely awful quality and felt I'd been completely scammed. I bought 3 summer dresses and they were deadful, cheap nylon material. One had a lace detail on the model, but when it cam the 'lace' was just a cheap print on the material! With all these awful reviews, Trading Standards should shut their adverts down - why is this company getting away with saying they are an English company when in fact it's a deceitful Chinese outfit? Such a waste of money. I gave all 3 dresses to a charity shop, but felt bad even doing that as the quality was so poor.

I tried to pick what I thought was a UK company but no everything made in China. I was sent the wrong size & had to send photos of it to prove this. Promised an exchange but never came! Asked for refund ...no answer! Dreadful company.

We ordered a few dresses as they seemed good value and attractive designs. Each arrived separately after a long period of waiting and with no attached documentation and no returns’ slip. The quality of each was appalling and the cut was bizarre with pockets in the most extraordinary positions. Our desire for a refund through email was met with great resistance and eventually we were given what appeared to be a Mickey Mouse address in China. Nevertheless we returned the goods at a cost of nearly £30 and that was three months ago with no refund! This is a scam company and should be avoided like the plague. We have now successfully claimed the money back from our credit card. Warning – don’t touch this company with a bargepole.

This company is NOT based in Manchester, the return address for unwanted goods is 'No. 2 freight elevator on the west side of the 3rd floor upstairs etc..'in China!
Dress was very poor quality. I was offered 15% discount to keep it but could only return to the Chinese address for them to receive it BEFORE they would authorise a refund. Reported to Trading Standards via Citizens' Advice. It IS worth pursuing a refund via a credit card payment- Thank you, Amex!

I wish I had read the reviews here before ordering. Everything they say is true. Poor quality clothes from China and absolutely no refunds unless you return the items back to China!! I'm a £100 out of pocket. Will never trust an ad on Instagram again

NEVER EVER buy from Selby and Rose. 2 cheap dresses arrived didn’t fit. Returned them to China still not received my refund been months now, no acknowledgment from emails I have sent. This has never happened to me before. So annoyed I have been scammed.

Absolute scam. It is not a Manchester company but a Chinese one. Received 2 dresses in a ghastly cheap fabric, so small that one of them wouldn't even go over my head. Initially received lots of friendly apparently helpful emails but wanting me to accept 25% back not to return items. I insisted on full refund and returning. Had to pay for 2 separate parcels to China as dresses had arrived separately. A weird Chinese address . Completed customs form and tracked parcels. They have been with Chinese customs control for 4 months. A Chinese friend translated the next bit of info on Chinese mail site, 4 pages of blurb about customs concluding end of story- will not be delivered to dodgy address and no refund. Sent numerous emails including pics of customs and tracking to company but of course, no longer replying to anything. Similar stories featured on Radio 4

Terrible company, very, very poor quality & fit. Nothing like the images online. I agreed with them that I could return the items for a full refund (to China at my expense) & I'm still waiting for my money months later. No reply to emails. The whole experience we has cost me over £100 & I have nothing to show for it.

I ordered two pairs of dungarees from Selby & Rose, which is advertised as a British womenswear label rooted in the heart of Manchester’s creative district. The advertising claims that each piece is designed with intention, using refined fabrics and timeless silhouettes that move with ease and grace. I was very disappointed with my order which look a long time to arrive, and appeared to have come from China. The items were of poor quality and the fabric was not as shown in the photos.
I asked for a refund but was told that I would have to pay to return them to their facility based in East Asia, but instead they offered me a 15% refund and suggested I gave the items to charity.

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS WEBSITE. Total scam. Orders two dresses after being completely taken in by the back story and photo of two women in front of a shop supposedly in Manchester. The delivery took weeks and arrived separately, in plastic packaging, nothing like the "beautiful wrapping" I was expecting. Drop- shipped from China, quality was AWFUL. Contacted for return and was offered 30% refund "to save me the trouble of returning" and I could hero the dresses or "give them to someone as a lovely gift". I pushed for a return but kept being told they were more than happy to refund me 30% straight away. Eventually got a return address from them but should have listened to their warning that it was a very difficult process. Paid £25 to return, to the address stated exactly. This was 2 months ago. Tracking shows it stuck in customs in China. Contacted the company to ask if they have been contacted by customs. No reply. They are basically just the most horrendous scammers. Not only have I wasted 67 pounds on two dresses that no one would ever want to wear, I've now wasted 25 pounds on a return that will never arrive. Feel so very very stupid to have fallen for such an obvious scam and for thinking I could beat the system and get a refund. I don't have 90+ pounds to waste and am totally gutted. DO NOT BUY FROM THESE PEOPLE.

This company is a complete scam. I bought two dresses which did not suit. Their quality was extremely poor. Their returns policy doesn't work. I paid £23.50 to return them to China but 6 weeks on and I still have not received a refund. The photograph on the website of two smart women standing in a shop window is wholly misleading. DO NOT BUY FROM SELBY AND ROSE.

Awful. Haven’t received my order and haven’t had a refund. It’s been 3 months. DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE. Very polite response on email but no action either on order update or refund. Disgusting behaviour

I realised I had put my old address the minute I pressed on 'pay' and immediately emailed the company. They worked with me and although initially the bikini went to my old address (which is a 5 hour drive from where I now live) they made arrangements for me to have another delivery to my current address. Very grateful to them for sorting it out. The tankini is a little small on the sizing but does fit.

Items very poor quality and entirely sourced from China, in spite of misleading website stating the company is based in Manchester. In fact everything is handled from overseas, either a business address in the Netherlands or (for returns) an address in the Far East. Returns process arcane and entirely at buyer's expense, so did not bother to incur further costs for no certainty a refund would appear.

This company is completely fraudulent. It says it is UK company but everything is handled in China. I asked before purchasing 2 dresses if they were cotton and the reply led me to believe they contained contton. However on arrival the quality was cheap polyester ad nothing like the pictures led me to believe. i had very understand apologetic email trail with the company and returned the ite on 16/8/25 at my cost (£17.00). Since then the parcel has been in Customs in China and since 6/9/25 the tracking in in chinese and I have been ghosted by the company on email. So I have no items and am extra £17 out of pocket making almost £100 in total.

i was actually thinking of re ordering from S&R .
I got a tunic /shirt top which I like .It's the right size and attractive pattern .
There was no clue as to the fabric on the website so I wasn;t surprised to find that it's not a narural fibre !
Goodness knows what it is - a very solid polyester ? - but it never needs ironing and doesn't crease .
Not one for hot weather but fine in Autumn .

Absolutely disgusting company. It is a total scam. I paid over £70.00 for two summer dresses which looked NOTHING at all like the advertisement. If you look in the small print you have to return to some obscure address in China to get any sort of refund. The idea of sending it back to China is ridiculous and would cost a fortune never mind the paperwork and rigamarole involved. I was offered a 15% 'discount' and suggested I gave the garments to charity! They are not good enough for charity. I tried to send an email to an address quoted in China, no reply - very frustrating! It really is quite shocking. I have given up fighting which is not like me. It would be too time consuming and raise my blood pressure!
Can nobody do anything about such people? It makes me averse to buying on the internet.
In actuality they are thieving!

I need to return two items for refund but there is no proper website, no contact number, no response to my emails requesting returns information.
