Membership?

It took a long time to receive my item, and I woke up to a random charge on my account from SB and didn’t know why. When I reached out the representative helped me quickly. I was told that when you do the buying process you also sign up for a membership. I didn’t know that but I believe that should be more clear or just don’t have a membership at all? If the membership gets you discounts and stuff that should be a separate thing, not just thrown in the mix when purchasing. Most people when purchasing items don’t think about memberships unless it’s specifically stated from the beginning prior to purchase. Or don’t proceed unless they check a box that says “yes, I want a membership” or “No, I don’t want a membership”. It comes off a bit sneaky and deceitful.
Update: I just looked at my messages with the care team and it states that for your first purchase you’re automatically enrolled in a VIP membership. I still feel like it shouldn’t be an automatic thing. I believe it’s just better to have the choice to opt out to avoid confusion and lost money.

SCAM!

I just discovered that I have been getting a charge of 29.99 from this company for the last 2 months. I don't know them but according to their website, I am a member ??? I cancelled it but I never joined in the first place! Scams galore in this world!

Thanks for sharing this. I can understand how frustrating that must have felt, especially seeing charges come through for something you didn't realize you signed up for.

For context, the VIP membership details are shown at checkout before the order is placed. That said, we know this can still be missed or not feel clear, and it shouldn't come as a surprise.

We've requested your info through Trustpilot so our team can take a closer look at your order and account and help get this sorted out properly.

Love my bikini trimmer!!!

I'm obsessed with this bikini trimmer! Between the affordable price and how well it actually works, buying it was a complete no brainer.

It was good

It was good. Took longer than expected. I talked to a customer service person who was pleasant. After, I received my order within a few days. 10 out of 10. I received my product.

Took forever to receive but works well. Did not use wall attachment as looked too flimsy. Ordered extra cleaning pads at same time! (Luckily!)

Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a review! Really sorry the wait was longer than it should have been - that's something we're actively working on with our shipping partners. Appreciate the heads up on the wall attachment too; we'll pass that along to the team. So glad the product itself is working well for you, and smart move stocking up on the cleaning pads!

They are a fraud!!!

I tried to order the magnetic phone chargers last night and they said the charge was denied, but it went through on my bank. So, I have no record for the purchase. Now I have to claim fraudulent charges and get a new card. What a pain!!!! Save yourself and don't waste your time!!!

Hi Christine, thanks for taking the time to share this and I'm sorry for the frustration. Having to cancel a card and deal with fraudulent charge claims is a real headache.

For context, when a checkout shows declined on our end but a pending charge appears on your bank statement, that's almost always a temporary authorization hold rather than a completed charge. These holds typically release back to your account within 3 to 5 business days without any action needed, and you would have received an order confirmation email from us if a successful purchase had gone through.

That said, we don't want to leave anything unverified. We've requested your info through Trustpilot so our team can check our records against your account and confirm nothing was actually charged. If we find a real charge on our side, we'll get it refunded right away.

I purchased the magnetic charger for my…

I purchased the magnetic charger for my iPhone 15, however it does not work. When I went to get a refund they said all sales are final. This would be fine if they advertised that when I was purchasing it, but instead the customer has to look for their policy. Almost as if they know their products aren’t the best, but the customer is stuck keeping. Never will I order from this company again.

Hi Nicole, thanks for the feedback and I'm sorry the magnetic charger didn't work with your iPhone 15. That's not the experience we want anyone to have.

To clarify our policy here, defective or non-functional products are handled separately from the standard final sale terms shown on the product page and at checkout. A product that doesn't work should always be eligible for replacement or refund, and we know that distinction isn't always easy to find on our end.

We've requested your info through Trustpilot so our team can pull up your order and get you either a working replacement or a refund, whichever you'd prefer.

Hi Mary, thanks for reaching out and I'm sorry for the trouble with both the order and the unexpected charge.

A couple of things to address here. Our buy 2 get 1 free promotions add the free item automatically at checkout, so if you only received 2 units something went wrong during fulfillment and we want to fix that. As for the VIP membership, that option is shown at checkout, but we know it can be missed or not feel clear, and a charge shouldn't come as a surprise.

We've also flagged that you sent multiple emails without a response, which is not how this should have gone. We've requested your info through Trustpilot so our team can ship the missing item, review the membership charge, and figure out where the email thread broke down.

Great find - Use it all the time

Ordered the 2-in-1 oil dispenser and honestly wasn't expecting much, but this thing is genuinely useful. It's become a permanent spot on my counter. The pour control is clean, no dripping, and having both oil and vinegar in one bottle is way more convenient than I thought it would be. Build quality feels solid too - nothing cheap about it.
Shipping was faster than expected, came well packaged, no issues. SelectBasics was easy to order from and I'd definitely buy from them again. Simple product done right - highly recommend.

Check before you buy

Bought a double sided shaver and only one side worked. I emailed them for a replacement or refund and got no answer. Now I just got another charge out of the blue. This charge couldn't go through because I had to cancel that card do to fraud. This brings me to numerous fraudulent charge denials that I am still continuing to get relating to my canceled card. I have no proof that this "company" was behind the fraud but I'm not saying they aren't.

Hi Kathy, thanks for sharing this and I'm sorry for the frustration with both the shaver and the follow-up charges.

To clear a few things up: a defective product is always eligible for replacement or refund regardless of the standard final sale policy, so not getting a response to your original email isn't acceptable and we want to make that right. Any subscription or recurring option is shown at checkout, but if you didn't intend to enroll we'll review your account and refund anything that wasn't expected.

On the ongoing fraudulent charge denials, once a card is canceled no merchant can successfully process new charges against it, so those declines on the canceled card aren't coming from us. We understand the concern given the timing though. We've requested your info through Trustpilot so our team can pull up your order, address the defective shaver, and confirm there's nothing recurring on our end.
