We purchased a car from Charles a few months ago and can only say that I have never been so impressed with his professional manner and attitude. I would not just only recommend Select Cars Countrywide but also Charles who is a great asset to the company and a great pleasure for his customers. If I could give him more than 5 stars I would.

Avoid!

I enquired about a 22-plate Renault Trafic advertised at £11,995 and was repeatedly assured by Charlie that the van was in “decent condition,” with only minor marks and no serious damage. As I live over four hours away, I paid £340 for an independent inspection for peace of mind.

The inspection returned a score of 0/100. The van had extensive roof damage, failed diagnostics (electrical), previous diagnostic faults that were “cleared”, visible remnants of previous sign writing, no service history (was told this and offered £500 off), battery cover wasn’t on properly (possible jump start which fried the electrics) The inspector deemed the vehicle effectively worthless in its current condition.

This vehicle was clearly misrepresented. The extensive roof damage and previous sign writing were not disclosed at any stage. Had I been given an honest and accurate description, I would not have proceeded with the inspection or incurred the £340 cost.

I believe the dealership should reimburse me for the inspection fee due to the misleading information provided. I strongly advise any prospective buyer to obtain an independent inspection before committing, as the description given to me was entirely inaccurate and misleading.

Edit: Was told after the inspection from Charlie “ I didn’t think to check the roof” Also on the report it stated oil around bottom area of engine and on tray underneath van- Charlie’s response “ When they put oil in the engine it spills”… Responses like this Is why I don’t trust dealers anymore.

Antonio,
That review is incredibly unfair.
I understand the vehicle didn't meet your expectations, upon our first conversation you explained you wanted a tidy almost immaculate van, to which I explained this van was not.
I sent you a walk around video of the vehicle prior to you arranging an inspection. I explained the van had signs of wear as it had been used by a business, as is the case with many vans. Rather than come and view the van yourself, you made a decision to pay for a third party inspection to be carried out. The inspection was a negative one and highlighted negatives on the van, many of which were explained to you prior to this inspection. You told me on the phone yesterday that our van was £2000 cheaper than any others for the same age and miles which is why you took it upon yourself to proceed with placing a deposit, even after the condition and lack of service history was explained to you.
I’d recommend you view a vehicle in person before placing any deposits in the future.
Having seen other reviews left by this person, he has a habit of bad mouthing businesses and has attempted blackmailing us into paying him in order to get the review removed.
Sellers beware.

I would not recommend this garage based…

I would not recommend this garage based on my experience. I purchased a vehicle from them and experienced serious issues within just two days. After adjusting the steering wheel, I noticed a dangerous problem that could have caused a crash on the A38. I contacted the garage immediately to report the issue. Initially, they did not take my concerns seriously until I insisted.
They provided a courtesy car, which was a Nissan Juke with nearly 200,000 miles on it. Shortly after, they called to say the vehicle was ready for collection. When I asked what the fault had been, they stated that a “steering wheel nut was loose” and that they had “lock tightened it back on.” They could not explain why it had become loose in the first place. While I was unhappy with this response, I collected the car.
About a week later, I noticed knocking, clunking, and vibrations when turning. I contacted the garage to ask if I could take the car to another garage for inspection. They insisted it had to be brought back to them. I complied, but shortly afterward they told me that the warranty company had rejected the claim. When I asked which part had failed, they replied that they did not know and would get back to me. I waited from 10am to 5pm with no response.
I then contacted the warranty company directly and was told they had no record of any claim being submitted or rejected. Frustrated, I took the car to an independent garage, which identified the cause of the problem and fixed it quickly.
Based on this experience, I found the garage to be unprofessional, with poor communication and a lack of accountability. My concerns were not taken seriously, and I had to arrange independent inspection and repair at my own initiative. I would caution others to be careful when dealing with this garage.

Thank You, Charlie

Charlie was brilliant.
Sales staff are 'trained' to "butter-up" their prospective client, but I was given the impression that Charlie was genuinely concerned that I purchased the correct vehicle. There was no 'pushy' sales tactics at all.
He asked pertinent questions, & left my wife, son & I alone to have discussions.

Their aftersales is also perfect. I part exchanged my old vehicle & they discussed the retention process for my personalised number plate.

I cannot fault him, & his bosses should be proud of making the RIGHT decision to hire him.
