Unresolved issues

I recently rented a vehicle from SelfDrive Mobility.

Prior to the renewal time, I attempted to return the vehicle but experienced difficulty completing the return process. I contacted the company multiple times via email and WhatsApp to resolve the matter and arrange collection.

The vehicle was subsequently collected and the contract is now closed. However, an automatic renewal charge of AED 1,677 was applied.

I have raised the matter with the relevant authorities and am awaiting further review, as I have not yet received a response to my recent communications from SelfDrive.

I hope the company will assist in resolving this matter promptly.

Great prices and service .. long time to get the deposit

I have been using selfdrive for 2-3 years now .. the application is super easy to use and the service is instant and great especially by Mr. Sayed.
I never had any issues with them and the prices are always better than the market. Only disadvantage that it takes a long time to get the deposit back despite getting it within the promised time.

With referenace to agreement No.RAC1012600301
They are the worst in term of getting the refund, the executive never tell about the security return timeline.
Initially, they told 30 days. I took the car for 1 day, my deposit of 100bhd is stuck for 45 days? I returned the car on 31st January, my maturity date is reflecting as 14/03/2025. Now day they are telling as working 30 days, so if they had 15 holidays in between the tenure gets extended. WORST in terms of refund process.

My recent experience with Selfdrive was extremely disappointing. The service quality was far below expectations. There was zero communication throughout the process, and the customer service team was unresponsive and unhelpful.

Despite multiple attempts, no one responded to my emails, calls, or messages, and the commitments made during booking were not honored, which reflects very poor customer handling. There also seems to be no coordination between their sales, return, and accounts teams, making the entire experience frustrating and unprofessional.

Based on this experience, I would not recommend Selfdrive to anyone, nor would I consider using their service again.

I world like to share my feedback regarding the car I rented from your company. Unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing. This was my first time trying a Chinese car, and I was surprised that the vehicle was not clean and had a strong cigarette smell inside.

In addition, I found the overall process difficult due to a lack of flexibility, which made the experience uncomfortable for me. For this reason, I do not wish to renew the rental or deal with your company again. regarding the car I rented from your company. Unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing. Worst company ever

If I could give 0 stars, I would.

Worst company ever. There is no direct number to reach anyone — every time you call, you end up speaking to 10 different people, and no one ever follows up.

They are never on time for delivery or to pick up the car. It’s honestly the worst rental company I’ve dealt with.

They only call you when they want to ask if you’d like to extend your rental, but when you need extra information, they keep saying they will call you back — and nothing ever happens.

Very dissapointing customer agents

Very dissapointing customer service agents! Called 3 times and all of it is not helpful at all!
First call the agent just told me that someone will call to deliver the vehicle and no one called as I have a work at 11am they are supposed to deliver it by 10am and yet not one called me back.

2nd attempt same explanation expecting the car to be delivered as it is already past 10am the agent just dropped my call.

3rd attempt asking what time will they be able to deliver the car, I was told to wait and they will get back to me. 30 minutes already passed they just left me hanging on the phone as I decided to drop the call

Unprofessional service and broken promises

I am writing to express my extreme disappointment with my current rental. The vehicle delivered does not match the features explicitly stated in your advertising, and to make matters worse, the interior is filled with the smell of cigarette smoke.
I requested a replacement on Day 1. It has now been 10 days of constant follow-ups via phone and WhatsApp, yet I have received no resolution. As this is my third car with Selfdrive, I expected a certain level of professional service; however, due to this unacceptable lack of accountability, this will definitely be my last.
I expect an immediate resolution regarding the replacement and a credit for the days lost.

WARNING

WARNING – Extremely Unprofessional & Misleading Experience with Self-Drive Car Rental

I strongly advise everyone reading this review to think twice before dealing with Self-Drive Car Rental.

My experience with them has been one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever faced in Dubai.

At first, their prices look attractive and affordable on the app — but this is nothing more than a trap. They lure customers in with low initial prices and then apply significantly higher rates upon renewal.

What makes the situation worse is their shocking lack of coordination and accountability.

Although they operate using Hertz vehicles and call center support, whenever you contact customer service, the Hertz agents say:
“We have nothing to do with Self-Drive. We will inform their team to contact you.”

No one ever contacts you.

The same happens via WhatsApp — messages go unanswered for days.

Here is what I personally experienced:

Complete lack of system awareness: Two days after collecting the car from Dubai Marina branch, I received a call asking whether I had received the car or not — meaning they didn’t even know if the vehicle was handed over.

Unauthorized card deductions: I requested multiple times (via WhatsApp and phone) to remove my wife’s credit card from the account and replace it with mine. No response. No confirmation. Nothing.
Later, another traffic fine was deducted again from my wife’s card.

No response to maintenance issue: When a dashboard indicator appeared (possibly maintenance related), I sent screenshots asking for guidance. No reply. I had to call repeatedly and practically beg to speak to someone responsible. The call center agents were cold, robotic, and repeatedly said they could not help because “Self-Drive is different.”

Drop-off nightmare: I chose Dubai Marina branch for convenience, as it is close to where I live. When I decided not to renew, I scheduled the drop-off through the app and received confirmation.
The next morning, I received a call asking why I was canceling my contract — clearly showing internal miscommunication again.

Then I was informed that Marina branch was closed and I must drop the car at the head office near DXB Airport (around 40 km away).

When I asked for a basic courtesy solution — such as arranging pickup as compensation for the inconvenience — I was told I must pay AED 75 for pickup.

No ownership.
No coordination.
No courtesy.
No accountability.

This company operates in a completely unprofessional manner. Communication is non-existent, internal processes are chaotic, and customer care is practically zero.

If you value your time, your money, and your peace of mind — avoid Self-Drive Car Rental.

I had a situation, and Jonna and the staff handled it very well. They were kind and provided me with different solutions so I could choose the one that worked best for me. Jonna also followed up closely on this concern until everything was resolved

I would strongly advise anyone to avoid…

I would strongly advise anyone to avoid using SelfDrive.

I rented a car from them in Dubai over a month ago, and to this day I have still not received my deposit back. Their communication is extremely poor, they are very unresponsive on WhatsApp and give little to no clarity when you try to follow up.

I was told the refund would be processed this week, but now they are claiming there is a “technical issue” and that I must wait another two weeks. This constant delay and lack of accountability is completely unacceptable.

I lived in Dubai for three months and can confidently say there are far better rental companies available at similar prices. Many of them either don’t require a deposit at all, or if they do, they return it promptly without making customers chase their own money.

This has been a very frustrating experience, and I would never use this company again.
