SENTIA Spirits founder Professor David Nutt has been a pioneering force in psychopharmacology for over thirty years. He has published more then 500 original research papers and 34 books on a wealth of topics in psychiatry, from his early work in sleep studies to his more famous interventions in drug policy and the study of addiction.
As an expert on the ways alcohol interacts with the body and brain, Professor Nutt realised that he could isolate the mechanism we associate with the desirable effects of alcohol—relaxation, increased sociability & improved mood—from the negative effects, by developing an alternative that exclusively targeted the brain’s GABA system. Professor Nutt founded SENTIA Spirits in 2020 to bring functional alcohol alternatives to adult social drinkers.

I really like the red and gold drinks. Both give you a buzzy feeling.

Tried GABA Gold, it was like having a glass or two of wine. A pleasant buzz, strange botanical taste but not bad. Then drank some Black the next day. More peppery, didn’t notice a buzzy effect, but I walked my dog up a mountain, came home and spent 7 hours doing household chores that I’ve procrastinated on since Christmas. So it definitely did something. Gonna try the Red one next.
Delivery was rapid and smartly packaged. My only criticism is the priciness but as an experimental alternative to booze I highly recommend it. Ordered more this morning!

Tried Sentia Black, but couldn't gulp down more than app. 1 cl so there surely has been no effect. It tastes so damn awful, OMG ... The smell alone! It remembers you of the used black water you've had in the cup you used to wash your brushes in art class in school - mixed with some herbs you'd never try plus a big portion of graveyard smell plus loads of incense.
Don't spend 40 bucks on that witche's soup! At least I hope it clears my kitchen drain.

First things first: I'm a former drug addict who is using SSRI and mood stabilizer prescription pills
So as a former drug addict i was curious about effects of this drink that claims to enhance GABA neurotransmitter (which i thought is closely similar to benzodiazepines effects). They claim it gives you high feeling and it has 20 servings in 500ml bottle. Hahahaha. I chugged that bottle in three sittings.
(didn't measure, just took the bottle and drank from it) - 100ml is maximum daily serving which shouldn't be exceeded
First drinking: Drank about 70ml and i felt "something" after 15 minutes. It was a weird feeling that couldn't be described. Nothing horrifying just unfamiliar feeling. After a hour it made me drowsy and sleepy - yeah it helped me fall asleep
Second drinking: Drank about 100ml and the effects were exactly same maybe even milder
Third drinking: Went all in, chugged the bottle and after 15 minutes i've got slight vertigo (problems walking straight) and also made me sleepy (even more after this dosage)
Each time after drinking the next day, i was very aggressive. Like even when I see blue color I was so frreaking mad that i wanted to beat someone for it. It made me so insanely aggressive.
Maybe, just maybe it was my brain unknowingly telling me that it needs that chemical again (i know about addiction mechanisms) but i can't 100% confirm it.
The most probable thing that happened is that the medication i take for such a long time had bad interaction in a sense that it diminished effect of GABA. Even they say that SSRIs could lower the effect of their drink.
And so for the price i bought it (40€) it didn't even came close to justifying effects and three serving drink. Insanely overpriced. Therefore my experience was 1 star.
If you don't take any medications that modulate your brain chemistry i think your experience would be three stars.
The page is legit, the product is legit, it's just overpriced for the effects it claims to have. It most definitely do "something" that doesn't even come close to any other drug i have taken.
I mean yeah, you could buy it to just brag that you have "alcohol free alcohol" to show your friends but that's it.
Have now read response: nothing like suggesting your customers are alcoholics or drug addicts (of which I am neither) to win customers over, is there.
The “Our Story” section of Sentia’s website makes the involvement of Prof. David Nutt high on the list. I’m very surprised that, with his reputation, he would put his name to this product. But perhaps I was wrong about him. Other than having an efficient courier service, I can say little for this company, or their product, other than the fact that it’s a complete rip-off in an attractive, well-packaged bottle. Reading the list of ingredients (I purchased the “Gold”) it’s fundamentally a combination of herbal products that can easily be bought for a much lower price in a health shop. I was duped by the fact that no actual strengths are included and I hoped that the recipe formed some sort of “winning combination” alcohol substitute with an “effect”, as customers are led to believe. It isn’t. The taste is bitter and Sentia advise you to use 25ml per serving. I mixed this with two zero alcohol mixers and the taste was still bitter “meh”. As for the effect for your £32 - there is none. The only reason I went ahead and purchased Sentia’s product were the credentials of the professionals associated with it, because I believed they had integrity. What a waste of money. Next time I feel like splashing out for an occasion, I’ll go to a reputable supermarket and spend my hard-earned cash on a few bottles of a reliable drink and consume it responsibly. No more snake oil for me, thank you.

Didn’t do anything for me. Interesting gingery flavor but nothing even remotely relaxing or booze-like. Save your dough.

I don't drink and have been looking for something to help me relax and feel like I can socialise easier (I'm very socially awkward and struggle to make small talk). I bought all 3 bottles and am very pleasantly surprised. The black one tastes a bit like Worcester sauce by itself but mixed with cola and lime juice it's yum. It also works well with coffee as an espresso martini. I was chatty and energetic after a couple of drinks and just generally felt good. The gold one is pretty nice, tastes a bit like ginger shots, good with tonic. It made me feel good and again more chatty and relaxed. Tonight I've tried the red one with tonic, not so sure on the flavour of this so I'll have to experiment with mixers, tastes a bit like mulled wine without any sugar. It has made me feel super relaxed though and helped to calm a racing mind.
All round they're a success. I'm looking forward to trying some new combinations over Xmas.

I was really surprised how good this is. If you want to cut down on your alcohol intake then it's a good substitute as a cocktail mixer. It has subtle spices and flavours that also have similar hints to what you find in wine. I add sparkling water and lime and it's very refreshing.

Sentia Gold has a very pleasant citrus taste also a slight hint of sherbet and goes well with citrus mixers.

My personal experience of Sentia is not so much that it produces an experience similar to alcohol but that it has done wonders for my sleep! As soon as I started drinking it in the evenings (about the time I'd have a gin and tonic) I noticed that my sleep was much less restless. I have a sleep program on my watch which tells me that my sleeping heart rate with Sentia is usually about 10bpm less than my sedentary rate (the rates were the same before) and I am getting good deep sleep. The drink itself is a bit like an alcohol free vermouth or Dubonnet so it makes a functional replacement for the G&T and one I look forward to. Cheers to Sentia!

Unfortunately, the delivery from the UK to the EU was not a pleasant experience - the tax laws are complicated and unclear. But that's not Sentia's fault. On the contrary, my issues highlighted how professional Sentia's customer service is, the lady I was in touch with was very patient and nice. So overall, I was happy with my experience. Can't wait to try the drinks. It took about 2 weeks to get them. Would recommend, especially once they set up a base in the Netherlands and this import tax thing is solved.

My order of two Sentia bottles from the UK to the Netherlands was jinxed. So many things went wrong, it was unbelievable. But there she was: Joan, the lady from Sentia Customers Service. This angel was friendly, understanding, patient, generous and swift in solving all the problems. So, this could have been a very bad, first-and-never-again experience with Sentia for me. But instead, I can recommend this business to everyone. Foremostly, thanks to Joan! Thank you again for everything and all the best, Sophie

I tried Sentia at a trade show in London for the first time a while ago now and it really interested me. Since that I've hade the pleasure of going through a bottle of sentia red and sentia black. I think they are really interesting liquids and the first time I've had something non alcoholic that didn't taste like water. It had a really good flavour and the whole gaba experience makes you feel like an adult rather than drinking mocktails that taste like juice. It's a complete game changer.

This drink is amazing from my point of view. It gives a small buzz and helpds me avoid reaching for alcohol to destress. It's also great for sharing with friends who don't drink alcohol or can't due to health reasons. I like the taste of sentia red with soda water and have this about once a week. I'm now addicted to this product but in a very positive way!

Ordered but decided to return before trying, couldn't have been more helpful and understanding. Excellent customer service... bravo

Recently received my bottles (black and red). I sat down and had a nice glass of both over ice. Below is an honest review:
First and foremost, your product does exactly what it claims to do. I had a really nice calming buzz, yet with none of the side effects that drinking alcohol gives. The feeling stayed with me for about 2-2.5 hours. That is about as long or even longer than regular alcohol lasts.
Truth be told, I really do not drink that often therefore, I believe your product would work best with folks who do not consume alcohol regularly. A regular or heavy drinker may not experience your product in the same way someone who occasionally drinks would.
The red tastes a bit better than the black however, they can be mixed to mitigate either flavor if someone found it too strong for their taste.
In short, your company has really done it's homework and due diligence creating a really terrific product.

Zero feeling of discription.
Its just a spicy herb drink.

This stuff is awesome... been using it as an alcohol replacement for two years now, tastes great with some lemonade in a tall glass with ice. Like someone else on here said, you won't be dancing the night away on it but that's not the point. Fantastic customer service as well

Back to give my real experience right now. In spite of the shipment difficulties (taxes due to Brexit, so annoying), the customer service has been impecable. Joan has been nice reactive and so helpful.
I've seen documentaries about Sentia creator David Nutt and his research seems so exciting to me.
Sentia is a great alternative to alcohol. It does give you a nice buzz and will to chat and be social without ever getting out of control like alcohol can.
I recommend it to anyone who wants to feel the buzz of a night out but not the pain of too many drinks the day after.
I really hope they can grow and distribute Sentia in more places!
