Recent forced change of payment method from direct debit to continuous card payment poorly executed in terms of customer comms and takes no account of increasing the admin for customers to manage ongoing cards compared to direct debit management. Even if you change bank you can switch the direct debit using the cass service. Increase is customer administration time, decrease in convenience, poor communication for change, and no reduction in fees to compensate customers for a decision clearly based to only benefit the company. When I raised it with my storage facility it was laughed off and they clearly had no comprehension of what the change meant for the customer. Indicative of a company with no customer centricity.

only getting 2 stars as the facilities themselves are half decent, but I'll be moving out of principal before I have to change my card details at card expiry

This is a review for Shurguard in Wokingham(Berkshire)...to all Shurguard's customers...be warned...after 6 months of having your belongings in storage at Shurguard...they have increased my monthly fee from £169 to £209 per month...I have just read the Agreement I signed with Shurguard...and it does indeed state that Shurguard can increase fees as they see fit after 6 months...absolutely outrageous...!! ...talk about being held hostage...the costs of moving my belongings into another storage unit within a month's notice (which is the timeframe given...as per their agreement..if you are unhappy with any price increase...means that Shurguard's customers have no choice but to pay their increased charges)...A message to Shurguard(Wokingham)....I will pay the outstanding amount by the beginning of next week...so please don't make anymore threats saying that the Baliffs will take my belongings and sell them at auction...!!

6/12/24:Dear Shurgurd... thank-you for your response... which I will choose to ignore..!! A small monthly rent increase of a few pounds is one thing but a rent increase of nearly 25% resulting in a £40.00 increase in my monthly payment...is outrageous...!! I have just transferred the outstanding balance on my account to Shurgurd's bank account...and I will be looking to vacate Shurgurd's storage unit in Wokingham at my earliest convenience...l would sooner not have to deal with Shurgurd in person and I decline your offer of coming to my storage centre (in WOKINGHAM)...I trust that my belongings will be kept safe...dry...and free from theft...now that I have paid my bill in full...!!

7/12/24: I have just received the following text from mobile phone number-07739518986 - CAN SHURGUARD WOKINGHAM STOP SENDING ME THREATENING TEXTS...I RECEIVED A THREATENING LETTER YESTERDAY FROM "the Shurguard Team"...I paid my bill in FULL yesterday and have paid for storing my belongings... until my next billing date of 7th January 2025...I paid the bill to the Bank account number: 84128018 Sort code:406384 my Customer Number is-8840007...if Ciran or his boss at Shurguard Wokingham break into the storage units that I have rented at the the WOKINGHAM site and steal and then dispose of my belongings...I will have to get the police involved...!! This is a copy of the text I have just received...
"Good Afternoon

Your account remains severely overdue for payment.

Termination proceedings have now commenced which will result in the removal of your goods by the Bailiffs.

If you do not want to lose your goods immediate payment is required.

So nice to deal with a Company that understands Customer Service. The Staff are knowledgable and efficient which is just so refreshing in this day and age. The Storage Units are clean and well lit.
I have rented my Unit for several Years and have always found the Company to be informative and responsive. Well done SHURGARD, Wokingham and thank you.

Facility was clean and well lit.Easy to navigate my storage and keys were given after instructions from the best guide and employee Kieran.

Good security, setup for unit was well explained and staff on-hand were very helpful.

Be very wary of using this company. I booked storage and cancelled it on the same day because my current storage improved their offer.
I had paid the first months fee.
I have an email dated 31/8 stating they had actioned the refund and it would be with me in 15 days. I’m still waiting despite numerous phone calls. So now proceeding to Small Claims Court.
They keep claiming this is an international transaction causing the delay. I paid a UK website and dealing with a UK store. Shurgard are refusing to do anything to correct their error and staff seem apathetic to their mistakes.

I signed up 4 months ago for a unit and quite like the idea of £1 for the first month although most of the storage companies in the area do the same deal.
Just received an email 4 months later to say that my rent for a 100 ft2 was going up from £188.00 a month to £222.00 (an 18% increase) with no explanation apart from, I quote "To maintain our high standards and to ensure the best possible customer service". What does that mean!!!!

The man on reception was friendly and helpful, and explained everything clearly. When I had a small issue he was very receptive and resolved everything quickly and without fuss. Very good service.

Excellent friendly and professional and knowledgeable service from Kieran at Shurguard at Wokingham. Took me through all the rental options and then showed me various units that were available, very clearly also fully explaining the means of accessing the storage facility, 24/7. I was very impressed and signed up immediately.

Extremely friendly and helpful staff showing me the ropes for my first use of self storage.
