We have used SImple Servers for many years, they are always extremely helpful when issues occur from time to time. We would recommend using them as a hosting platform.

Use if you want to lend money to the company, without expectations of any interest.

We have been using Simple Servers for hosting our websites. The service is good but their billing is what will drive you crazy. I will share it here with the community so they are aware of what they are getting into. Had we known this is how things will turn out to be, we wouldn't have ventured out with this company in the 1st place.

So how typically post-paid, long term services, across the globe, work is as follows-

You use services for the month of January, you are handed an invoice in the 1st week of February and you have to clear your dues by say, the mid of February. But with Simple Servers, here is how it works-

Today is the 1st of January, you will get an invoice for services you will use from 1st of February to 28th of February (as if Simple Servers is run by a group of Astrologers and Astrophsyicsts who can absolutely predict what will your usage of their service be, 30 days from now). This invoice shall be due to be paid by the 1st of February, but if you do not clear this invoice today, on the 1st of January, your services shall be terminated, today, for which you had already paid on the 1st of December, the previous year. So effectively meaning, if you do not wish to continue using the services of Simple Servers, 1 month from you, you would have anyway paid for that month. In any case, you would lose out on the Server fees for 1 month, if you want to terminate your services with Simple Servers. To a company trying to pull off a stunt like this in 2019, all I can say is, Good Luck guys, you have just triggered the 1st switch to your eventual fall.

All long term services give a month's credit to users, but Simple Servers, by this clever practice, is in effect having its users invest 2 months of their billing amount into the company, without any interest or returns. An apparently smart but effectively stupid move considering the market scenario in 2019.

I sincerely wish them a great deal of luck as they really need it pulling of such malafide practices in these competitive and customer focussed business scenarios today.

Edit 1- Response to Mr. Parry's Comment

Dear Mr. Parry
The world would really have been a better place if people, and companies, walked the talk, but unfortunately, like with most people, SS does not walk the talk.

In your reply, you mentioned-
"You state that payment for an invoice raised on 1st of January for the month of February is due right away, but this is quite incorrect."

Sir, if your policy is actually as you are claiming it to be, I would like you to explain the following email we got from your support team when we raised a ticket for suspension of services-

"Hi,
Thank you for contacting us.
On checking, I can see that the account is suspended due to Overdue on Payment. The invoice 119101 for the server is still unpaid. Please make sure that you haven't missed the invoice. If so, please complete this asap. Once this has been completed, we will activate the account back.
Could you please have a check.
If you have any further queries, please feel free to contact us. We are really happy to help you.
Regards
Ava Juliet
Simple Servers Support"

Now if you could check your systems and see the invoice number mentioned by Ms Ava, the due date on the invoice is 1st of November 2019 while our services were suspended on the 2nd of October 2019. due to non-payment of the invoice.

Coming to another point you made in your comment-
"On or around 3 days prior to the due date we will collect the payment due. This makes sure that any potential payment problems are picked up, and our customers have time to rectify any problems.
If payment is collected successfully, the service renews.
If payments fail, we issue a payment failure notice. If payment is still not collected past the due date we issue warning for 3 days, and then if payment is not collected we suspend services."

I do not recall, in the last couple of months if we ever received any such warning emails. Even in this instance, the services were just suspended, no warnings, no emails, no notifications, straight termination.

I would urge you to check your email logs and support logs and check on my claims.

The next time you plan to respond to comments, it would serve you to delve deep, investigate at your end and then reach out to the keyboard Sir. Responses without due homework, reflect bad on your company and yourself.

I look forward to further comments from you, Mr. Parry.

Regards
JK

Hi Jaskaran,

Our billing policy is really very simple and quite transparent as we believe in making sure our customers are well advised of all services that are due to be billed well in advance. We find that this is the fairest process. We don't hide anything,

We issue invoices 30 days in advance of the due date. That means that our customers know 30 days ahead of time what they will be due.

Example: On 1st January we issue an invoice for services due for the month of February, with a latest due date of 1st February.

On or around 3 days prior to the due date we will collect the payment due. This makes sure that any potential payment problems are picked up, and our customers have time to rectify any problems.

If payment is collected successfully, the service renews.

If payments fail, we issue a payment failure notice. If payment is still not collected past the due date we issue warning for 3 days, and then if payment is not collected we suspend services.

You state that payment for an invoice raised on 1st of January for the month of February is due right away, but this is quite incorrect.

I think you may have mistaken our issuing an invoice ahead of time as being due immediately, and I can confirm that you are mistaken if this is what you thought.

Best wishes

Phil C Parry
Head of Operations.

-- Edit in response to comments made --

While this isn't the forum to discuss things like this, as you have, so will I:

I can see that you had an invoice refunded a few months ago. This caused an issue with your next due dates. Now this has been highlighted it has been corrected.

As always, and regardless of fault, if these things are brought to our attention by way of a ticket to the correct department - in this case Billing would be the correct department - by phone, or via ticket, we can take action to correct them.

As it is now we know, the issue is corrected. Your next bill will now not be due until January.

Excellent support, fast server

I've raised tickets a few times in the last couple of years for routine things to do with installing certificates, adding files, or "how to" queries. The response has been quick and to the point each time, so I am very happy with the service, and with reliability and speed of the server, too.

One thing could be better, and that is navigation, e.g. to the cPanel, and I could not see a way to download files and folders from the file browser but neither of these is worth removing a star for because it is a much simpler user experience than I have had with other providers.

The site just was taken down

There are no words to describe when a company puts profits before there customers as these people have.

Simple servers have been bought but a company called iomart Group a completely self-absorbed, self-interested organization.

They have taken down my site as well as hundreds of other e-commerce sites and has nothing to do with improving service and only to save costs for themselves.

They could and should have migrated our sites on a temporary server but they could not care less about service or our companies and have done it the cheapest way to benefit only themselves, no reputable server company would do this.

There are no timeframes, no support, nothing. If they really must take down customers' sites, they should be doing this during the night at perhaps 2-3am, not at 6.pm and informing customers via email on how we can keep our sites up with an alternative server or something whilst they do the work.

This is poor, really poor and will be moving to UK fast on Monday please, please do not choose these guys to host your site. Please consider other companies who take a hit on profits and make you a priority.

We did notify you and it is officially night.

Hello Daniel,

This is simply not accurate.

Notifications as provided in advance of the works. AS the notification clearly stated, these works are being carried out in order to move servers from a third party data centre where the previous owners rented space, to our own wholly owned and state of the art data centres, staffed by our own engineers, connected to our own national fibre network. From here we can offer improved service, more services and greater flexibility as well as advanced protection for our customers.

Your assertion that we have done this purely for profit is completely false, as are your claims that there is no support, as our staff are on duty and working 24/7.

The works commenced at 6pm as that is the end of the UK business day and is so that we have sufficient time to complete the migration in order to return services by morning. Had we started later, we would have finished later.

I'm sorry you feel aggrieved however I can tell you that we have done everything possible to make the move as fast as humanly possible.

Highly questionably integrity of the company

We are a web design company and have been working with simpleservers for several years by referring over a dozen customers. However, a recent experience with them has made us doubt the integrity of the company and we hence we have started pulling out all of our customers who are hosted with simpleservers.

We had an affiliate account with them which we had not logged in for a while. There was a breach of security and one of their in-house staff tried to change our login email ids and post a request to withdraw the funds himself. This has to be an inhouse job since we did not receive any notification on the email id being changed. Im guessing their systems are updated enough to send out an email id if the login id is changed.

When we contacted them to look into this issue for us, what was supposed to be addressed was the breach of security, instead, they closed the affiliate account without offering any explanation.
And none of the calls or emails to support were responded except template replies.

I shall consider this issue resolved only if simpleserver not just pays us the affiliate amount due to us, but gives us an explanation on who within their company tried to do this hideous task.

Since the integrity of the company is a big question mark, we have started moving all our clients away from them, to nexcess.

Hello Abbas,

Your accusation that one of our own staff has made a request to withdraw your affiliate balance is as false as it is ridiculous and libellous.

Thats a big accusation to make, based on zero evidence and we refute that completely.

In last 30 days has resulted in over £1400 of marketing resulting in a 404.
Had to restart server twice this morning alone as it became unresponsive to visitors.

Simple Servers make it easy to sleep at night A++

Having been an online developer for over 13 years I have used a lot of different hosting providers in my time but none have ever come close to Simple Servers. Their support is fantastic and the servers they provide extremely powerful. I would recommend to anyone who wants security in their online business. Simple Servers make it easy to sleep at night A++

Cant fault the product or support

As a firm believer in getting what you pay for, I can't fault Simple Servers, sure they are not the cheapest but the service and support offered are excellent. I am happy with Simple Servers. Rick, Bangor, Northern Ireland.
