Great Platform, But Small Glitches Can Be Frustrating

Simply Wall St is an excellent tool for analyzing and tracking investments I really like the visuals, insights, and overall user experience. It makes understanding my portfolio and market trends a lot easier.

However, I’ve been having issues reconnecting my portfolio from my broker through Plaid, and it’s been frustrating. These small technical glitches take away from an otherwise smooth experience. Once these connectivity bugs are fixed, it’ll be near perfect.

Hi,

Sorry to hear about the portfolio syncing issues you're experiencing.

Occasionally, the linkage between your brokerage account and our platform may experience disruptions and require re-authentication. If this is the case, you should see a notice prompting you to re-authenticate your account.

Please note that the portfolio information we provide relies on data obtained from your broker. Changes on their end may sometimes disrupt the service temporarily. Rest assured that we are continuously working to ensure seamless data synchronisation and provide the most accurate and timely information possible.

If the issue persists, please send us a message with the details at support@simplywallst.com, and we'll further check your linked portfolio.

'Supported by ads' is very annoying.

Here in the UK I'm on the free package of 5 company reports per month etc. Recently Simply Wall Street introduced an enhanced free package if I accept adverts. I tried it, thinking the ads would be at the sides of the webpage. Wrong - the ads are in the centre blocking the page with 'skip ad in 5...4...3' seconds just like on Youtube. Deeply annoying, so I'm back on the free offer. I like SWS but the adverts are obstructive. Not a good idea at all.

Hi John,

Thank you for sharing your honest feedback — we really appreciate it.

We completely understand how disruptive those mid-page ads can feel. Our goal with the ad-supported free plan is to keep Simply Wall St accessible to everyone while maintaining fairness between free and paid users. The ads help us continue improving the platform and offering free access to investment insights, but it’s never our intention to make the experience frustrating or intrusive.

Your feedback is valuable, and we’re actively reviewing how to make ads less disruptive while still keeping the free plan sustainable. It’s great to hear that you’re continuing to use Simply Wall St, and we’ll make sure your comments are shared with the product team.

Thanks again for taking the time to let us know — it really helps us find the right balance between fairness and user experience.

I find system unwieldy as if I make…

I find system unwieldy as if I make additional purchase of a share, I have to delete my original purchase and re entere the amount of share again. Also it will be so much useful if the sight would include a cash function were trades would be accounted for resulting of an increase or decrease in the cash balance. lastly the addition to a cash function would allow for the sight to provide an on going accumulated loss/Profit figure for the portfolio.
Thanks

Andrew

Hi Andrew,

Thank you for your feedback.

To clarify, we offer two types of manual portfolios: Current Holdings and Transactions. If you choose the Transactions type, you can add each of your actual buy and sell transactions individually. This means that whenever you purchase additional shares, you can simply add a new buy transaction. There’s no need to delete your existing entry and re-enter it.

To create a Transactions portfolio, go to the Portfolios Hub, click the + New Portfolio button at the upper right corner, and then click Add Transactions.

As for the cash position, this feature isn’t available since we analyze the absolute performance of a portfolio directly attributable to the individual holdings. That said, it's something we may consider in the future as we continue to enhance the portfolio tool.

If you have any additional questions or need further assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us directly at support@simplywallst.com

Thank you,

Hi Benjamin,

We’re sorry to hear about your experience and appreciate you sharing this feedback.

There are a few possible reasons for what you’re experiencing. For the portfolio tracking, the way your portfolio is set up on our platform directly affects how your portfolios are tracked and calculated. The tracking for Linked and Manual Holdings portfolios is currently based only on the average price of your holdings. We use this method because we don't have access to the full history of every single buy and sell transaction.

For the bulk upload, if it isn't working, it may be due to issues with the file. For example, if the file is missing details or is not formatted correctly, the upload could fail. To help you troubleshoot, we have created a guide in our Help Center that outlines common problems and how to resolve them quickly. Here's the link: https://support.simplywall.st/hc/en-us/articles/10974593931151-How-to-Bulk-Add-Transactions-to-Create-Your-Stock-Portfolio#h_01JRZ4SXW29VFDEAMN9BD0C5GN

To assist you directly, a member of our support team has already reached out to you. We want to ensure that you fully benefit from Simply Wall St. Please keep an eye on your inbox, and we will continue working with you to resolve this issue.

Thank you for your understanding.

Nice trial period, easy to use

Had an opportunity to try the service without entering payment info. The easy to read graphs allow me to get a feel the potential of a company at a glance. But there is plenty of info if you want to drill down.

The best information I could find

Initially, I used various platforms to find out what I could invest in. I also found SimplyWallstreet, where I could browse for free. That helped me decide to subscribe. Unlike many other sites, the platform also provides very useful information about European companies and stocks. I don't expect to leave anytime soon. The only thing I would like is to change the site's black background to a white one. But hey, you can't have everything...

Hi Liekem,

Thank you for your positive feedback. We appreciate it! We’re glad to hear that you’ve found the platform helpful!

As for your suggestion regarding the background color, having the option to switch themes is something we may potentially consider for future updates. While we can’t guarantee implementation just yet, please rest assured that it’s being carefully reviewed.

Once again, thank you for sharing your feedback and for your continued support.

Painful Experience

Your App failed to Sync my portfolio, THE MOST BASIC FUNCTION expected from it. AI suggested so many things and I tried a lot full day. First, it included only 29 stocks, later increased to 33 but never reached my full list of 36. The App isn't user friendly at all. The basic functionalities like edit portfolio/watchlist etc are not easy to find. I feel sorry to spend money on purchasing your highest plan. I had very high hopes from your App

Hi Sunil,

We’re sorry to hear about the issues you’ve experienced.

In some cases, missing stocks after linking are due to ticker mismatches. If your broker uses a different ticker symbol than ours, the system may not recognize it automatically and may need to be manually rematched. Our team is working on improving the matching to ensure smoother creation regardless of ticker symbol formatting variation from different brokers.

For the navigation concerns you mentioned, please note that we have a Help Center with guides on editing portfolios, managing watchlists, and other features. You may visit it through this link https://support.simplywall.st/hc/en-us/categories/360000148896.

We know how important it is for these core functions to work smoothly, and we take your concerns seriously. To further look into this, our support team has already contacted you directly to assist with your portfolios. We will continue to work with you until everything is resolved.

Thanks for your understanding.
