Calling Sky CS is like an out of body experience

After 12 years I needed to move house. The Sky CS bounced me back and forward between moving team to offers team to cancellation team and back and again and again for 3 days. At the end of it I felt life had been sucked off me and I don't want to dial this number anymore. I called to move and after 3 days I found myself cancelling altogether. You should spend less on advertising and more on training and reorganising your CS team, it is shocking.

An absolutely shocking company

An absolutely shocking company! They don't give a damn about their customers and it's IMPOSSIBLE to speak to any actual human. When you go on their horrible website it's full of nonsense saying stuff like "how can we help with this?" or "how can we help with that?" etc etc etc.

We lost our connection from our Sky box to the broadband and I am sure it's a fault with the box or they have deliberately disabled it. And no it's NOT simple to fix! And now we are getting hacked advertising from Thane TV. The box is actually recording stuff we don't want and never recorded! I deleted it and double deleted it and removed any series link but still it records the muck.

Dreadfully poor communication between Sky and Openreach - Sky staff don't know their ass from their elbow

I ordered my FTTP broadband with Sky mid Nov approx. and was estimated 23rd Nov. The actual activation date was set for 15th Dec, which is a fairly unreasonable gap in itself.
What turned this from an inconvenience into a frustrating nightmare was the appalling lack of communication between Openreach and Sky, with Sky clearly having no control over or understanding of the actual activation process.
From the moment I got the actual activation date I was told by Sky that since I had an ONT (with FTTP), I didn't need an engineer to visit - they could activate it remotely and I didn't need to be in on the day. Weeks later I got text messages from Openreach asking to schedule the engineer visit for activation. The only options they had were to stick with the 5hr morning slot currently scheduled (for which I could only be in for the first 4hrs due to prior commitments) or sometime after 12th Jan. So, not knowing who to believe, I trusted Sky and went with the original date.
Two days before activation, I got the same mixed messages. Sky: "You don't need to be in on the day". Openreach: "Make sure to be in and that the engineer can access the ONT".

The activation day made it apparent that Sky was misleading me. An engineer turned up during the last hour I wasnt in for, so the appointment was missed. No remote activation as promised by Sky. A call to the Openreach engineer who tried to come revealed that he needed to get the serial number (and possibly other things depending on the state of the ONT), something Sky failed to mention.

Two days later, I called Sky and they said they could change the activation date to the 20th Dec. They sounded very certain that this would happen and suggested that the engineer would also be round if needed. I received an email shortly after the call saying the amended activation date was rejected. No one turned up and nothing happened on the 20th. On another call (19th Dec), they then said the activation date was now set for 23rd Jan (why I don't know).

I gave up at this point and managed to find a better deal through BT. Even as I tried to cancel with Sky, the person I was messaging kept insisting they could do the activation for the 23rd Dec, which obviously wasn't going to happen. (If they could do it remotely, they'd have done it by now. Openreach are clearly too busy to do anything before end of Jan.)

I've finally cancelled my Sky order and switched to BT. BT couldn't have been more helpful. They already know the serial number (even the location of the ONT modem), so they can do the switch remotely with an activation date of 22nd Dec. The router got to me on the activation date and my BT broadband was activated and up and running by evening.

A massive difference between BT and Sky. 5+weeks, miscommunication and lies, vs a single phone call and 3-4 days from order to activation.

In short, if you aren't interested in a TV deal, don't bother with Sky. They don't add anything of value - just a side order of frustation, confusion and delays.

I have been a sky customer for ever (my email address contains no numbers) and probably as long as sky has existed in the uk. I only purchase the basic tv and broadband services and every time my contract is up for renewal I negotiate and this company treats me brilliantly - really good deals which I think rewards my loyalty. On the rare occasion I do have problems (and they are really rare) an engineer is with me so quickly with new routers, extension boxes etc. We rarely say well done and thank you to the big players and I just wanted to say thank you to the widest audience. For me being loyal to sky has been rewarded by exemplary, second to none, service. Oh and the VIP rewards are also a lovely touch. 😀

WARNING

WARNING - If you are thinking of switching your broadband to Sky DON’T! They are hopeless, unprofessional, useless and untrustworthy and that’s just their customer service staff. I have had no internet connection since it was supposedly installed a week ago. They blame Openreach for everything. Go with any other supplier as long as it isn’t SKY!

Disgusting customer service!

Disgusting customer service!
Faulty Sky Q Box. Sound keeps cutting out. Have to wait 9 days for an engineer. One day later, no picture at all. Confirmed over the phone it’s the dish. I explained I had an engineer coming out in 8 days time and could they make it sooner. They told me we have an engineer in the area tomorrow but as it’s a weekend there will be a £15 surcharge!
Daylight robbery!!!
Thankfully their main competition has finally been installed in my area, so goodbye and good riddance!

Poor customer support

Fault with one of my Sky Q mini boxes which keeps resetting after power cuts. the other restores ok when power back on. agent wanted me to take photos of my sky q box and mini box as he said he needed them to diagnose the fault!!!!!!! Apart from what a ridiculous thing to request I have very little mobile coverage to even send a photo. There is obviously a hardware/software problem with the mini box that can't hold config info in event of power loss. Then he wanted to charge £15 for an engineer to visit. just have to put up with re installing it each time it fails. Dreadful service.

Clunky Skyglass set up...wrong

Clunky Skyglass set up...wrong, you can't even get that far. Even delivery is a deeply unsatisfying experience. They subcontract to delivery drivers who know how to connect to a plug and key in wifi code and nothing else. Set up? You're on your own, quote.
Everything about sky customer service is rubbish, from having to wait on the phone for hours for someone who can't help you. How is this company in business?

Not worth the money

After many years of being a Sky customer I finally cancelled my Sky Q subscription. I played with the idea many times but never really made the effort to do so.

But I've had enough.

First of all, too many ads considering I'm paying for this service.

Secondly, the viewing experience is terrible. They claim to personalise ads. They are most certainly not personalised for me.

Trying to watch VOD? Good luck downloading. Most of the time downloading is very slow and I have to wait a long time to actually watch a downloaded episode. But even more often I get a "remote network problem". I work from home, I am on numerous video conference calls every day, I can stream Netflix, Prime, Apple and FAST channels with no issues. But my Sky Q box has network problems? Well, why is that then?

On official sites you won't find any evidence but once you look into sky community this seems to be a known issue Sky is doing absolutely nothing about.

The final reason that really pushed me over the edge to cancel my subscription was a post from a user I found explaining that this error message is because of AdSmart, the "genius" ad serving platform from Sky. AdSmart can't handle the ad calls, and make a decision which ads they will serve me in the breaks of the downloaded episode. And that is why the downloads stop and I can't access to content. Any ad server must be able to make this decisions and deal with numerious ad calls in miliseconds. Not minutes. Ludicrous.

This is absolutely ridiculous. I cannot download content to watch because they can't figure out which ads to serve me. They are not personalised for me anyway, what are you trying to figure out? How about, if there's no ad call response, just serve NO ADS?

Funnily enough I just listened to a Webinar where the Products & Advertising guy from Sky has been going on about their viewer / customer experience, ad loads etc. Stop blowing your own trumpet. Because you have NOT done this right and lost a customer because of your poor customer experience.

In a time where people are cancelling subscriptions because they can't afford to pay energy bills you have lost a customer who CAN afford to pay but is just no longer willing to pay for such a mediocre service.

switched from virgin to Sky hoping for a better offering and more consistent internet but sadly disappointed when it just didn’t work on day 1 and we now have to wait several days without service. They sent a message saying it will work / be fine and clearly it wasn’t - not good enough and not up to global standards . I work from home once a week and my wife does full time so this has impacted us materially.

Bb stopped working on Sunday

Bb stopped working on Sunday , engineer came out on Tuesday telling me needed new hub he said it's meant to be delivered foa automatically but to phone sky to chase them up because of how bad they are with this (he was openreach). Phoned them that night after long story they phoned me back to assure me they would send router out right away and expected delivery next day. This went on for 3 days me phoning, them promising, delivery failing. Eventually got put through to their complaints was kept on the phone for 1.5 hours without having final resolution as I had to go on other call. Is now Friday night still no router. Entire working week been on hold as wfh. Unbelievable mess. Think it's time to find a new provider .

Four weeks ago my viewing card not valid,so i had no channels on the tv,i rang sky explained the problem and was told they would send a new viewing card.
Two weeks later no card, rang again and was promised a card would be sent by 24hr delivery (lie’s)
Rang again 2 days later and was told the same (more lies) no card arrived
Rang again and was told the card had been posted three days ago and would take five working days to arrive, but just in case they booked for an engineer to call one week later
You guessed it NO CARD
I’m sure all customer service staff are sent on a course in how to keep lying to customers
Has to be the worst company ever!
