Excellent house in a great village location. Very spacious and well equipped, with all that you need in a kitchen. The furnishings and fittings are all top notch and it’s always spotlessly clean. It’s a short walk away from a pub/restaurant, with a dog friendly room for a nice night out. A slightly longer walk away from the best beach in Northumberland. Booking process is simple.

Beautiful cottage impeccably clean with luxury interior, sun trap garden, 2 pubs in walking distance and 2 beaches also.
There is nothing to dislike !
We visit as often as we can !

The cottage is spacious, yet cosy, well maintained and immaculate.
The communication is excellent and Maureen does everything possible to make sure that the stay goes well.
We have recommended your property to several friends…and a friend has just booked for July.
We are already looking forward to our third stay this November.

Beautiful cottage in a lovely village. Suited my adult children and myself well. Clean inside comfortable beds. X2 pubs close by serving food. 20 minute stroll to the beach. Small local shop close. Lots of walks, places to visit in the area. We had a great holiday

Lynecroft March 2026. This cottage was nicely laid out with a spacious , well equipped kitchen and dining area. The lounge was cosy with a lovely flame effect gas fire and large TV. Bedrooms are decorated to a high spec with plenty of storage and there is one bedroom with an en-suite . There is a family sized bathroom too.
Large bi fold doors lead into a lovely secure lawned garden. To the front of the property there is a gated entry with ample off road parking for 3+ vehicles . This cottage is superbly located within very good walking distance to 2 x pubs and a well stocked local shop and post office . The shop sells takeaway baked goods and coffee. There is a nearby garage that sells petrol. 10 mins walk from the cottage is Embleton Bay beach . Turn right to Dunstonburgh Castle and Craster. Turn left walk along the beach to Lower Newton to the Ship Inn. Alnwick is short drive away for shopping , the Castle and Gardens plus Barter books. In summary we had a great holiday in this wonderful cottage. Everywhere is dog friendly .

Recently returned from a short break at The Arches with family. The cottage was very clean, spacious for 3 couples and very well equipped. Ample parking for 3 cars. We were lucky with 4 sunny days so were able to make the most of the beautiful beaches and surrounding countryside. Both local pubs were excellant - worth booking if a bigger party. I have already recommended this company to friends and will definitely use again.

This was our second stay at The Arches. It is an excellent place to stay. It has everything we need and the quality of all the fixtures and fittings is top notch. It’s also in a great location, half a mile from the coast and right next door to the local pub!
We can’t recommend it highly enough and we will certainly be back again.

Great spot, accommodation exceptional. Issue with oven on 1st night resolved immediately. Will rebook, it was perfect for us. Lovely dog friendly area.

Lynecroft is a truly outstanding cottage in a fabulous location and definitely one of the best holiday cottages I have ever stayed in. Spotlessly clean, super comfortable beds, quality bed linen, furniture and kitchenware - really top class. The large enclosed garden is an extra asset and perfect for dogs. We can’t wait to stay again!

Great location, with a short walk to the sands. Lovely dog friendly pub nearby and a 2 minute walk to Dunstanburgh hotel serving a wide selection of food, also dog friendly. Well recommended.. Cottage very clean and well equipped. Beautiful garden albeit it was too cold to sit out.
The cottage was very warm and perfect for our new year stay.
A full length mirror would be useful!

Lovely cottage in a good location. It sleeps 6 comfortably and is very well kitted out. Additional touches such as a welcome pack of tea, coffee, milk and biscuits as well as a Christmas gift and a Christmas tree, lights and decorations made it special. The information folder is very useful and up to date. The parking area fitted 3 cars and the pub next door does good food.

The arches always impeccably clean.
It has very comfortable beds, beautifully furnished and loads of crockery etc.
We like to return every year.
This year had a lovely surprise with beautiful tasteful Christmas decorations.
3 lovely beaches easily walkable, 2 pubs and a longer walk along the beach to Beadnell .

Lovely bungalow, very well equipped and spotlessly clean. Situated down a quiet lane but 2 minute walk to an hotel with a lovely bar/restaurant and a 10 minute walk to the beach. Will definitely recommend

The Arches is a well equipped, comfortable and cosy cottage, in a perfect location for great walks and exploring Northumberland, There are dog friendly pubs nearby which was perfect for us.

We stayed at the Arches for our Nieces wedding and I couldn’t recommend it enough. The cottage was immaculate, even had tea, coffee, biscuits and milk for us. Such a beautiful location. If you like walking or have dogs the beaches are beautiful and very quiet. Right next door to a lovely pub if you wanted to go for a meal. We will definitely be booking again for a break. 10/10

We’ve stayed at several Smallburn cottages over the years and always book with them to go to Northumberland. This was our first stay at Ingram in Christon Bank. The property was finished to the same high standard as the places we have stayed at previously. Although Christon Bank is a little further from the coast the cottage was easy to find with good parking and a great little garden. Inside it’s so well equipped. We had a roast dinner one day and had everything we needed ready to go. We will definitely Hope to stay again in future.

The Arches is a fabulous comfortable cottage with everything you need for a prefect stay in a beautiful Northumberland.

The cottage is located in the lovely small village of Newton next to sea, just 5 minutes walk from the beach, and benefits with two great pubs to visit after a long walk.

We are a returning customer to the cottage and highly recommend Smallburn Cottage’s who have a great selection of cottages to choose from.
