Scammers

Called as needed emergency help with boiler not working, told id need to pay the excess of £60 (fine) but also had to pay the full remaining balance of the policy of £170 before they would help me. Paid monthly because i couldnt afford to pay the whole thing up front. Now held to ransom with my heating. For £230 i could call out an engineer and have it fixed so cancelling my policy and will take one out with someone reputable

Scam Boiler Cover

Bought an annual boiler cover plan. Called on three occasions to arrange a boiler service - no response. Set up a WhatsAap chat (as recommended by the website) only to be given several promises that we would be contacted to arrange a service...that was two months ago and after several attempts to chase, still nothing. This company is clearly operating a scam. Do not use them.

Awful - don't waste your money

Awful made a request on the 6th January for a call out, had to fill in more paperwork than if I was selling my home. Took 1 month to call me. they never leave voicemails, an engineer came on the 12th Feb who was in my home for less than 1 minute and said he wanted to go and fix his car, I have heard nothing since then. Absolutely awful service avoid at all costs.

SCAM ALERT – Smart Cover rebranded as Home Tree Services Ltd & Smart Cover DI Limited!

⚠️ DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY!
I am a genuine customer (Ref: SMCOV785872) and was fraudulently charged £189 by Smart Cover DI Limited on 17th January 2025 — despite cancelling my boiler service policy last year via email and phone.

This company now trades under multiple aliases:
• Smart Cover DI Limited
• Smart Cover Insurance Services
• Home Tree Services Ltd London
• Hometree Marketplace Ltd

Lloyds Bank identified this as fraud and refunded me, only for the company to take the money again without consent!
They ignore all emails and calls — classic scam tactics!

Raise the issue with your bank’s fraud team, Action Fraud, and Martin Lewis!

Avoid at all costs!

Scammers

If your considering this company avoid,unfortunately they don't answer phone and their policy is misleading customers, after 16 phone calls and getting cut of saying we're busy with other customers and several emails, I had to get refund from bank however I am reporting them to ombudsman this company is not putting customers first my advice stay clear don't buy any policies.

Complete Fraudsters

Took my annual premium twice. Unable to contact them by phone, email or letter. Have been unable to cancel my policy and have now contacted my bank to try and recover my money for me.
Avoid them like the plague

I agree with all the other customers

I agree with all the other customers - not even worth one star. They claim to provide an insurance service and to include gas boiler servicing, but when you try to communicate with them by phone or email, you cannot make contact, and they do not reply. So, they take your money and do not give you anything. A smart way to make money for them.

Fart Cover

If you have all the time in the world to try and get through to these cowboys and make a claim/chase one up then this company is for you. For everyone else....avoid like the plague. Disgraceful customer service. Never call you back or answer emails. Customers are clearly treated with absolute disdain. I've now cancelled my policy and will be biting the bullet and buying a new dishwasher. UPDATE- they eventually called me back after a week and a half and I informed them I had cancelled all my policies and just bought a new dishwasher. Unbelievably I got a call back 10 minutes later asking why I was cancelling my policy. It seems they can pick up a phone immediately and speak to you when you're leaving them yet it takes over a week for them to contact when you've made a claim. A lamentable excuse for a company. AVOID AVOID AVOID!

I phoned to cancel my policy a week…

I phoned to cancel my policy a week ago. The person I spoke to tried to pass me to the relevant Department and was unable to get through to them. He took my details and I was told someone would phone me back that afternoon at 4pm That was 5 days ago. Today I hung on for 2 hrs and 5 mins. I gave up and sent an email but 4 hrs later still no reply. Obviously their customers don't really matter.

No response to phone calls

I have made 9 phone calls today, one of which was over 4 hours and I never spoke to anyone, I was cut off each time. Any good Trustpilot reviews are only for the sales team not for customer service! Do not use them.

They dont even deserve 1 star been waiting 7weeks for a boiler service been told someone will call me back and not heard from them also trying to get through to customer services and been cut off 9 times without being able to speak to anyone .. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE !

What a joke

Paid up-front annual premium for Home Emergency Cover and they readily took my money.
Telephoned them regarding boiler issue, only to be asked for evidence of last boiler service and refused to attend.
Telephoned them regarding electrical problem with no power to any sockets throughout the house including fridge/freezer full of food. Struggled to find 24/7 help-line number, then Smart Cover refused service because we didn't have an entire electrical blackout.
An absolute joke and an extortion. AVOID AT ALL COST.

Poor service

Poor service, when you phone and it's busy they offer a call back option so I accepted, thinking it'll be later that day or at worse next day. 6 days later I get the call back. But in the meantime I had managed to get in touch with them explaining my issues and urgency. I have received one email saying someone will be in touch but few days later nothing.
I've been paying this outfit for years without making a single claim or anything, the moment I need help, 8 days later still without my appliance. Well smart cover I've cancelled future payment and gone out and brought me a new one. I could of brought two with the money I've paid to this lot.

POOR SERVICE!!

Plus good luck understanding who you're speaking to on the phone

Do not take this out

Do not take this out. This is not emergency cover. Although more expensive go with British Gas as it’s easier to navigate and your house is actually covered. Had an issue with a radiator rejected even though I have a young baby so considered to have a vulnerable person in the house. We also have a leak from the bathroom and that’s been rejected so I’m unsure what is actually covered. Waste of money and not worth it in a cost of living crisis. They do say they can put you in touch with their support but that gives them more money so steer clear!!!! Completely missold

Confusing Insurance

I have taken my insurance to cover me against boiler breakdown when my boiler broke down my claim was rejected on the basis of policy does not cover the loss of hot water, but in the other hand the policy does cover the boiler breakdowns (Section D). my claim was rejected and felt i been let down by Smartcover big time, i only made one claim and was rejected . I was wondering why did i take this insurance in a first place, in my case i made a mistake.

I would have given 0 if I could…

I would have given 0 if I could absolute con artists new for old is a laugh they have a 500.00 limit if you go over to get like for like you have to pay . Pay for engineer call out 75.00 no other company charges big big rip off company. Now changing to a far better firm.
