I tried to hire a truck for just one day and the process was completely impractical and far from customer-friendly.

Instead of a simple hire process, I was faced with an excessive amount of paperwork and requirements that would apparently take up to two weeks to complete — all just to hire a vehicle for a single day. This defeats the entire purpose of short-term hire.

What also made little sense was being asked to provide public liability insurance, while at the same time being told the vehicle comes insured and that I would still be charged £50 per day for insurance. The whole process felt unnecessarily complicated and poorly thought out.

Hiring a vehicle should be straightforward and efficient. Unfortunately, this experience felt like the opposite.

I decided to take my business elsewhere.

A highly professional service in all aspects there machines are always of the highest standards and immaculately clean. The Team at the Southampton branch are always very helpful and the manager Brian ensures the whole experience is first rate setting the bar. If you’re needing vehicle mounted access platforms these are the guys to use.

Use Smart platforms for reactive and planned works and always been given excellent customer service with all there kit top quality. Brain Snowden couldn’t do more for you, even when you call him giving him 10 minutes notice of needing a machine. Would Highly recommend.

I have used Smart platform many times.
Usually from the Southampton depot, but have used most of them.
Professional service, often going the extra mile to satisfy our demands.
Good variety of machines and always reliable.
Great availability. Highly recommended.

Have used Smart Platforms for a couple of years on new build developments, always been very quick to respond and service levels are excellent.

Tend to request 'last-minute', but always accommodates for client needs.

Unreliable let down time and time again be careful!
Went back to them after 2yrs as we couldnt find a cherry picker on short notice and they just haven't changed shocking service.
No driver turns up so you have to call them to see what's happening,
They said his running behind to then say he'll be there at 13.00 when he has been booked for 8.00.
We paid for a full day hire not a few hours in the afternoon!
All the manager could say is we can give you your money back but I have 3 staff to pay and if it was a one off then maybe but it's not the case!
Please be warned that despite there rating on here using them will end in disappointment!
I will be updating this regularly until you sort this out...

Excellent service. We had a crane down and they supplied the platform to allow us to access the crane to get it repaired in less than 2 hours. Brian and the Eastleigh team were tremendous. Saved the day. Thank you.

Hassle free service that was incredibly well organised and great value for money. Will definitely be using their services again.

We had some high level work to do on our church roof, hiring an operated cherry picker was the most cost effective way of doing this. From first contact with Smart Platform, meeting James to agree what was required and Simon the operator (who was fantastic, nothing was too much trouble), the day went very smoothly, all work achieved. Very impressed by the professional and friendly service. Certainly would use again for any high level work.
