Possibly the worst browser possible. It’s as if the app is designed to frustrate and anger its users as much as humanly possible.

Let’s start with the elephant in the room. The restrictions, which are the main selling point of this godawful excuse for a browser. Aside from how utterly asinine the idea of creating a browser that’s entirely built around restrictions is; the restrictions don’t even work properly. At best the restrictions are an utterly purposeless feature, and at worst they are an actual hindrance to the education of its users. To say the filtering is abysmal is an understatement, any remotely mature themes/language is blocked. This is obviously a problem for a lot of students, especially those in secondary school.

Now for the second (and largely undiscussed issue). Smoothwall’s actual ability to function as browser, or its lack thereof. Smoothwall performs far worse than any other browser, at some points taking minutes to do a simple search.

Overall, Smoothwall is a faulty browser that has no benefits. If you feel the need to place unnecessary restrictions on your students, find a more efficient means to do so.

Literally blocks random stuff for no reason except because it's on instragram or redit. newsflash: people talk about EVERYTHING on instagram and reddit.

thats all i dont think smoothwall deserves any more of my time or effort but they broke in to my house and robbed me after i searched up 'game' on a school computer, then kidnapped me IN MY SLEEP and cut my hair and took a picture and captioned it 'ts so tuff'??? wtf? ts not tuff?? ur NOT tuff smoothwall PLEASE LEAVE ME ALONE I AM A MINOR

Terrible, just terrible. I know this is my second review but oh my god.. I searched up "is there a bird called auggie" and got smoothwalled!!!!!!! another time i searched up kkkkkkk and got smoothwalled for "adult content".... what,

absolutely disgraceful! im a student in a comprehensive school in south wales and they have put smoothwall on my chromebook and i cant even type stuff up anymore because it puts blocked i haven't been able to search stuff up for school work on my chromebook for ages and im getting into trouble all the time because im not doing the work ive been asked to do because of smoothwall.

smoothwall is so bad that I would rather count every blade of grass on earth and kill every insect on earth with a piece of paper than use this stupid thing. I have to type this on a alt account otherwise smoothwall blocks this.
smoothwall also invades my privacy so I have to remove smoothwalls permission to access websites

I have had the displeasure of using this service for a good while, for a word yes I am heavily biased and annoyed. The thing is crap, If I want to search something about South Africa, nope. Anything, nope. Why schools use this service I understand, but surely there are better alternatives

the filtering on smoothwall is so bad i genuinely don't think i have anything positive to say about this blocking software, it literally blocked/flagged a misspelling of "deez bananas" as something extremely bad, like as in it could get the police involved since I'm a minor and it's literally illegal what smooth all flagged what I typed as, I just feel like this isn't a good software to install on your chromebook/laptop/computer.
