Covers to much range and made our internet useless.

It basically blocks all non-popular websites, even if they are included in the Cloudflare radar and have labels such as "education" and "technology". It also scans the URL to check if it contains any suspicious content, which is very extensive. It blocks many useful academic journals, DuckDuckGo and Qoura, as well as a large number of web service platforms such as OVHCloud control panel and some wiki sites. This policy basically prevents me from using the school network or my account for any academic research, and I cannot work on my personal projects, which are crucial to our future development.

Please can my school stop using it...

It's just terrible. The purpose of smoothwall is to keep us safe from harmful things not from schoolwork. I was making a powerpoint once and the link for the presentation got blocked. If i search up something related to chemistry i get blocked for things completely irrelevant- Reddit! Such rubbish. 0 stars if i could

The Ballad of Smoothwall Cloud Filter

The Ballad of Smoothwall Cloud Filter
—A Most Unholy Contraption—

In the reign of King Wi-Fi the Laggy, in a humble realm of scholars and overworked teachers, there came a great cry:
"We must needs protect our younglings from the dark enchantments of the World Wide Web!"

And lo! From the ether was summoned a creature most foul and falsely named—Smoothwall Cloud Filter, a digital demon cloaked in promises and poorly coded virtue.

"Fear not!" it boomed, with all the arrogance of a goose in armor. "I shall smite the wickedness of the internet and let only purity pass!"

But alas! From the very moment it was installed upon the kingdom's sacred networks, chaos did reign. For Smoothwall, like a blind knight with a rusty sword, knew not friend from foe.

Wanteth thou to search for "photosynthesis"?
BLOCKED for “suspicious greenery.”

Attempteth thou to readeth “Romeo and Juliet”?
FORBIDDEN, for it containeth “adult themes” and the word “dagger.”

Tryeth to accesseth Google, the most basic of tools?
NAY, for it beareth the name of an ancient pagan deity (or so it thinketh).

Meanwhile, all manner of mischief did slip through its grasp! The foulest clickbait, online games of deep and unholy addiction, and YouTube rabbit holes of talking cats were granted free passage, whilst noble learning was cast into the abyss.

Students were left bewildered.
Teachers did tear at their hair and curse the name "IT Support."
The headmaster drank three goblets of coffee before breakfast and was last seen shouting at the printer.

And what of the network speed, thou asketh? Picture, if thou canst, a turtle swimming through treacle... wearing leaden boots... during a thunderstorm... whilst being insulted by squirrels.

Aye, that slow.

So let it be known, from tower to tavern, from scroll to server:

Smoothwall Cloud Filter is no guardian—it is a gremlin in disguise, a jester in the court of educational technology, and a plague upon thine bandwidth.

Take heed, fair reader, and install it not, lest ye desire madness, mayhem, and students screaming “WHY HATH YOUTUBE BEEN BLOCKED, YET FORTNITE REMAINS?!”

Thus ends the tale.
Go now, and speak of it to others, that they may be spared this digital doom.
And if thou seest the IT man, offer him a biscuit and a kind word—for he hath seen things no mortal should.

A thorn on my side.

It's just a burden for me. I was searching up "Hydrapple" and for some GOD DAMN REASON, I was BLOCKED BY THAT TRASH.
I swear to ARKOOS (the pokemon god Arceus, I'm a Pokefan) that I will SUE THAT NUISANCE AND TERMINATE THAT WEBSITE FOREVER UNTIL THE END OF TIME!
According to other reviews, important education websites get BLOCKED by the ANNOYING MONSTORSTY OF SMOOTHWALL.
Smoothwall? more like TRASHWALL.
and I'm not the only person who experience that bozo website.
it's also not the first time I experienced the harsh blocking.
If I could, I would rate it 0 stars.
I hope the website gets deleted this year or the near future.
Thank you for reading.
