I have just been scammed from this…

I have just been scammed from this company or the person whoever contacted me. £118 taken from my bank when I was just selling my sofas to get some extra money in. Absolutely apppalled and devastated. Absolute FRAUD , stay away!!! I have reported this to my bank.

We do want to clarify that Sofalistic was not involved in this transaction.

From what you’ve described, this type of scam typically only occurs when communication is taken outside of our platform, often via WhatsApp or direct phone contact.

For the safety of our community, we have clear warnings across the site and require all users to agree to our terms before using the messaging feature.

These explicitly state that conversations must remain on the platform and that personal details (such as phone numbers, videos, or photos shared externally) should never be exchanged. This is exactly to prevent situations like this.

Unfortunately, once communication moves off-platform, we’re unable to protect or monitor the interaction, and it becomes much easier for scammers to operate.

We strongly recommend reporting this to Action Fraud using the details and number you have, alongside your bank (which you’ve already done — that’s the right step). We have also flagged this phishing attempt on our side and are happy to assist further if needed.

Ordered the sofa

Ordered the sofa, received a delivery date, received a delivery time slot, driver called when near by.
Sofa was very well protected during transit and carefully delivered and unwrapped and assembled.
Everything was clockwork and very well done.

Such a great service

Such a great service! I have been looking for a second hand sofa for a while but couldn't find one I liked. Then I found sofalistic. Managed to find a beautiful sofa - perfect for the decor of the room but without having to spend a fortune. Delivery was exactly as stated - within the dates I'd requested and with a call to let me know the delivery window. The sofa came wrapped up and well-cared-for and the delivery guys brought it to the room, set it up and took all the packaging away. I am very pleased with the service and with the sofa itself - it looks as if new!

Brilliant service

Really easy process from start to finish. Sofa is absolutely fantastic, looks like new at a fraction of the cost. Exactly as described. Organising the delivery was easy and the delivery team kept us updated as to arrival time, put it where we wanted it and were really friendly. Would definitely use again rather than buying new both for the money saving and the landfill prevention

Great sofa, great service, great price!

Had a great experience using sofalistic. The sofa itself was in brilliant condition and exactly as described.
After purchasing the sofa, we chose a delivery window. We received an email confirming the sofa had been collected from the seller, and a few days later had a phone call organising a delivery day. The sofa was delivered right on time. The delivery drivers put the sofas where we wanted them and unpacked them for us.
Overall brilliant service. Really happy with our new sofa, and for a great price too.

The sofa I received was in great shape…

The sofa I received was in great shape and the delivery very convenient, although quite expensive.
It's a great service overall but I am a bit baffled by a couple things.
Supposedly, they should have arranged the parking themselves, but apparently they didn't, so the delivery and assembly of my sofa was a bit rushed because the drivers were afraid to get a ticket.
Also, I was notified that the delivery time would be between 2-5pm, but on the day they came at 11:30.

I found the process of choosing and buying my new-to-me sofa set so straightforward. The processwas clear and simple. The communication was excellent, the delivery the same...and my sofa is SO lovely and comfy. If I could give 6 stars, I would!! Thank you.

Good communication, clear easy to use website and purchasing process, my sofa is beautiful too! I absolutely love it 💗

Review

The process it's self was straight forward enough - timelines were a little over estimated but when I queried I always got a reply. Delivery was good in the end but they almost refused to deliver as had to deliver through the back.of my property however I pointed out I paid a large delivery fee for this item and this was hardly an issue. Once that was over come they were in and out within about 15 minutes. The gentleman themselves were not rude or unpleasant just a bit "that a bit of effort" and I don't want do that attitude. Overall I am satisfied

Sofalistic Terrible Support Experience

Summary of the below: Sofalistic don't communicate, they over-promise, and they under-deliver. Simply put, do not expect good service from them or their sister companies.

Placed an order with Sofalistic, paid over one hundred pounds for delivery.

The order arrived late, and missing the feet and power packs for the two items in my order. It was shipped via their sister company in the DFS group the Sofa Delivery Company.

The two nice delivery chaps noted the missing parts, made note of it on their receipt of delivery and called it in to get replacements sent out next day. I was promised that someone would call me to let me know when the delivery was an hour out, none came.

I chased it through an extremely convoluted and unhelpful support process, and was told someone would call me back by end of day yesterday or latest first thing this morning. Yet again, no calls came.

The ordering process was fine but not shipping all of the parts and then this atrocious customer support experience is frankly a disgrace.

Be careful – the sofa I received was completely different

I had a very bad experience with this company.

I originally saw a sofa advertised as a John Lewis sofa for £450. In the photos it looked beautiful – an off-white fluffy fabric with a very nice textile finish. It looked amazing in the pictures.

After some time, my order was cancelled. Then they contacted me on WhatsApp and said there had been a problem on the website and that I would receive a refund, but that they could still sell the sofa to me.

On the delivery day, the delivery time slot was between 11am and 5pm, but the driver arrived around 9:30–10pm. It was already dark outside. When they opened the van, it was full of different sofas and the driver just took one out.

Because it was dark, I had to use the flash on my phone. Even then I could see that the colour was completely different. Instead of the white textile sofa shown in the photos, it was a very basic beige velvet sofa.

They then called a manager to offer a lower price. The first manager refused to reduce the price. Then another manager called and reduced the price to £300.

When they brought the sofa into the flat and I removed the packaging, I was extremely disappointed. It is a very basic L-shaped sofa made from two different pieces. One side is different from the other, so it is impossible to buy a proper cover. The cushions are not soft, the sofa is uneven and poorly made, and the size is smaller than it should be.

After this, a manager called me and said everything would be resolved and that someone would contact me. However, the next day nobody replied and nothing was done.

I am very disappointed that this happened. Please be careful when dealing with this company and make sure you check the sofa carefully before accepting delivery.

After reading the company’s reply, I want to clarify an important point.
My order was first officially cancelled, and shortly afterwards I was contacted by people claiming to represent Sofalistic. They already had details about the sofa and the order, which made the communication appear legitimate.

What concerns me is that I can still see the same phone number listed under several sofa advertisements on the platform, including listings for John Lewis sofas. Because of this, it was very difficult for me to understand that the communication might not have been official.

For this reason, I would encourage Sofalistic to investigate these listings so other customers do not experience the same situation.

First of all, I’m genuinely sorry that you’ve experienced this. What you’ve described sounds incredibly upsetting and stressful.

However, from the details in your review, this appears to be a scam carried out by someone impersonating Sofalistic — it is not a transaction that took place on our platform.

The key indicator is WhatsApp. We do not operate via WhatsApp, we do not move conversations off-platform, and we never contact customers privately after an order is cancelled to continue a sale. That is simply not how Sofalistic works.

On our platform, users must confirm before entering our messaging system that:

• All communication must remain on the platform
• Personal details must not be shared externally
• Transactions should never be completed outside Sofalistic

These warnings exist specifically to prevent impersonation scams like this. In your own account, you mention communicating and sharing details outside the platform, which unfortunately indicates that this was not handled through our secure system.

For clarity, genuine Sofalistic orders:

• Stay entirely within our platform messaging
• Do not involve WhatsApp communication
• Do not involve price renegotiation at the door
• Have structured delivery communication and tracking
• Are protected by our dispute process

If someone used our name while operating on WhatsApp, that is fraud and brand impersonation. I would strongly recommend reporting this to Action Fraud and to your bank as soon as possible.

I completely understand how disappointing this must feel, and I’m truly sorry you’ve gone through it — but it’s important to be clear that this did not occur through Sofalistic’s platform or systems.

Thank you for adding further clarification. I’m genuinely sorry you’ve had to deal with this and I can completely understand why it would have felt legitimate if someone appeared to know details about the sofa - which they would have listed themselves.

However, there is one very important point that must be made absolutely clear for everyone reading this:

Sofalistic never shares personal contact details between buyers and sellers - at any stage.

We do not disclose:
• Phone numbers
• Email addresses
• Home addresses
• Any direct contact information

This applies before purchase, during purchase, and after purchase. Personal details are never released to the other party. Communication takes place strictly within our secure on-platform messaging system. That protection does not change once an order is placed.

For someone to have contacted you directly via WhatsApp or by phone, your contact details would have had to be shared outside of our platform environment. We do not provide phone numbers to sellers, and sellers cannot see buyer phone numbers within our system.

If any listing contains a visible phone number, that is a direct breach of our rules. Sellers are strictly prohibited from publishing contact details or encouraging off-platform communication. We actively monitor and remove such content when identified, and we will investigate the numbers you’ve provided immediately.

From what you’ve described, this strongly suggests:

• Communication was moved off-platform
• Contact details were shared privately
• Scammers then impersonated Sofalistic

We take impersonation extremely seriously and will review any listings linked to those numbers. However, it is important to be transparent that Sofalistic does not release buyer details to sellers, does not operate on WhatsApp, and does not negotiate sales privately outside the platform.

Customer service is not great/Expect long wait times and to be kept out the loop!!

I ordered a sofa on 11 February and it was collected on 19 February. I was told delivery would be arranged within 72 hours, then told five days in conflicting email alerts, but neither happened. After a week with no update, customer service initially responded unhelpfully before acknowledging the delay and contacting the delivery company.
The delivery company explained they’re dealing with a backlog and that the information in the emails is outdated. They said I’d hear back by the weekend, but 11 days later I still have no delivery date.
The whole process has been slow, inconsistent, and poorly communicated and not worth the £129 delivery cost in my opinion. I chose pre‑loved to avoid long wait times, yet I’m now facing exactly that. Not impressed.

Updated 9 March : delivery men did an exceptional job. Both friendly and attentive an cannot fault them at all. The soda however doesn’t match the description on the website and I feel that old pictures may have been used in the advertisement when the sofa was newer. It has arrived smelly dirty and with extensive bobbling. I have raised a dispute with sofalistic and await response.
