Solar-Estimate.org exists to provide an easy-to-use ballpark solar estimator so that homeowners can get a rough idea of the solar potential of their home before deciding if they want to talk to a solar company.Our calculator automatically places panels on your roof and adjusts the production estimate to the tilt angle, azimuth and shading of the best location for each array of panels on your roof. At the time of writing (December 2019) no other consumer website can do this. The only other place such accurate functionality is available is in professional solar design software used by solar companies. Our solar calculator also uses EIA and Genability electric use profiling for each region of the United States to estimate what your electricity use pattern looks like over the course of a day and over the seasons of the year. It then maps that hour by hour over the generation pattern from the proposed solar array. As such it is the only free online solar panel calculator that properly accounts for the effects of time of use billing on solar savings. Most online solar panel calculators just estimate annual usage and production, ignore this complexity and give inaccurate results. This last point is particularly important in California where all residential customers are now on time of use electric billing, making the times of the day you use power and the times of day you generate power critical to your solar savings analysis.

Exceptional way to evaluate solar energy potential on your home!
We built my current residence 20 years ago and I always regretted not installing any type of solar, either for electricity or hot water. We are building a new home and I chanced on a Facebook ad for doing a solar power estimate. After reviewing it for potential security issues I completed the questionnaire and received what I believe to be an accurate estimate of what power could be generated as well as costs and payback period. I feel this adds great value to anyone in the early stages of considering solar in that it's painless and does not entail wasting a sales agent's time, nor does it expose you to a potential high-pressure sales effort. It does refer your information to local solar energy contractors but the 2 contacts I have received thus far have been both informative and polite. I think this app is an ideal way to way to review your solar energy potential before going ahead with an actual effort in soliciting bids.

Helpful calculator
The calculator was helpful in it it gives me an estimate as to what the cost is for insulation of solar. Of course it is not as clear as what does specific company has that many more detail when you work with a company, such as Sunrun.

Information on the cost to install solar on our home.
Wanted some preliminary information on a cost for installation of a solar system for our home. In a short time after providing address, electrical supplier, and monthly electricity usage we received an estimated range of system costs, estimated monthly electricity costs, and return on investment projections for 25 years. Very useful for an initial look into installing a solar system.
