Solar-Estimate.org exists to provide an easy-to-use ballpark solar estimator so that homeowners can get a rough idea of the solar potential of their home before deciding if they want to talk to a solar company.Our calculator automatically places panels on your roof and adjusts the production estimate to the tilt angle, azimuth and shading of the best location for each array of panels on your roof. At the time of writing (December 2019) no other consumer website can do this. The only other place such accurate functionality is available is in professional solar design software used by solar companies. Our solar calculator also uses EIA and Genability electric use profiling for each region of the United States to estimate what your electricity use pattern looks like over the course of a day and over the seasons of the year. It then maps that hour by hour over the generation pattern from the proposed solar array. As such it is the only free online solar panel calculator that properly accounts for the effects of time of use billing on solar savings. Most online solar panel calculators just estimate annual usage and production, ignore this complexity and give inaccurate results. This last point is particularly important in California where all residential customers are now on time of use electric billing, making the times of the day you use power and the times of day you generate power critical to your solar savings analysis.

Contacted Solar Estimate to get estimates
I contacted Solar Estimate to try to get some estimates for solar for my parent's house. Solar Estimate got some companies to contact me that I wasn't even seeing.
All the companies were nice. My parents signed papers from a guy I found on a Facebook ad. However we found out some things about him and his company we didn't like. So they cancelled that contract.
My parents are retiring next year so they want to see what their finances are before signing up for something they are making payments on since they're debt free now.

I had two companies reach out to me
I had two companies reach out to me. I was busy Tuesday morning when they called. I returned the calls in the order I received them. The first did not answer my return calls. I noticed they were out of state. The second answered my return call. We have an appointment next week to meet and work on details. This company was located a couple hours from my location. None of the companies located in Columbia were included.

A good estimate for a new solar project.
I recently purchased property in the Finger Lakes Region of New York and even though I haven’t built a home yet, I was curious about the potential cost of adding Solar panels to a new home. The solar calculator gave me a range of costs that was very close to what I did spend on solar panels on my existing home in the State of Wyoming. So, I think the estimate is very realistic. Everyone should consider adding solar power to their homes!

It was easy to use. I had no problem getting the information that I needed to find out how much Slar Panels would cost for my home. It gave the cost both for purchasing or financing the panels as well a the projected saving aned time frame to recover my investment.
