My daughter was attending Sound Steps face-to-face classes and Trinity classes. Due to her exams, she was unable to continue attending the classes, and I informed them about this in advance. However, the director emailed me stating that I still had to pay because the course was not “pay as you go.” I had informed them a week before the course started, but he claimed that the notice period was not sufficient.
He then sent several emails demanding payment. A few days later, he added a £5 weekly late payment charge. Recently, I received another email stating that my case had been forwarded to debt collectors and that I now have to pay £278, including penalties, even though the original amount was £178.
The payment email was sent on 27/03/2026, and the cancellation deadline was only two days later. I was unable to check and respond to the email within those two days, and when I contacted them afterward, I was told it was too late to cancel.
They also changed the teacher and the agreed class time, which was very inconvenient for us. In addition, if you want to take Trinity classes, they require you to join their face-to-face classes as well, which felt unnecessary, especially for students already studying at Trinity level.
If you are considering Trinity classes, I would recommend looking at other providers first. The service we received was very poor, and there are many other companies offering much better classes.

It's a friendly environment at my child's centre in Plumstead Common. The teacher is helpful. I love that they take exams and I love that they send emails to check my child is okay whenever he misses a class. I would recommend.

Punctuality was a hallmark of the teacher, who consistently arrived ready to conduct her lessons. She treated the children with unfailing politeness as well.

Brilliant and very dedicated team of professionals! My child enjoys every lesson. Fantastic supply of online materials in addition to the F2F lessons so we can get a blended experience. Good choice for parents who are not piano literate and still want to spend time together with their child learning the instrument!

My son has been Soundsteps Music School since Step 1 for keyboard classes and i have liked their approach of starting with the basics and gradually building on it very term. He is now passed Step 9 and we are very pleased with the effort & dedication of his teacher, Wilma who makes a concerted effort to help my son on his keyboard journey. Wilma is a thorough professional and ensures children enjoy their classes with he enthusiasm , while also learning something new everytime.
The communication from Aaron & his team regards Soundsteps is good & prompt and we have had no issues. I would recommend Soundsteps Music to anyone who wants their child to make a start with keyboard/piano before progressing to advanced Trinity classes.
Thanks,
Ajay H

My daughter has been learning from Matthew at Soundsteps for about 4 years now and has enjoyed her lessons and finished Grade 5 certification with a distinction. She refuses to learn from anyone else as Matthew has managed to inspire her immensely

I have watched my daughter grown from someone who was never able to play piano and from step one to five she is now able to play with both hands.

We had a wonderful experience with SoundStep, a fantastic keyboard school that truly stands out. The teachers were patient, skilled, and encouraging, making each lesson enjoyable and productive. Communication from the office was always clear and timely, making scheduling and updates stress-free. We’re really grateful for the support and quality teaching at SoundStep!

Please review the terms and conditions thoroughly, as you are required to pay for the entire 4-month term even if your child does not attend all the lessons. When my son lost interest, the teacher recommended we take a break. Despite this advice coming from the teacher, we were still expected to pay for the whole term, which I found disappointing. In my experience, the cancellation policy is inflexible—something to consider, especially for young children whose motivation can change quickly.

My son has loved piano as it is taught by Soundsteps and his awesome teacher Alexis! Their method to turn piano learning into an enjoyable game for young kids is working wonders and the 1 hour teaching time per week flies as a breeze for them!
