We pride ourselves on working with some of the most vulnerable people in society including those people with very complex needs. Our range of services includes Day Opportunities, Residential Care, Supported Living, Extra care, Shared Lives, Complex Reablement and Supported Employment. We have highly trained and skilled staff who provide consistent and high quality care to people in our community. Our customer satisfaction ratings are excellent reflecting our passion and commitment to making a positive difference to peoples’ lives. We offer services to people mainly funded by Southend City Council however we also support people who wish to pay for care privately and other organisations including Clinical Commissioning Groups.

Avoid Southend Care like the plague.

I live in a small supported housing recently taken over by Southend Care.

Ever since this company has taken over we receive little to no support here in this building.

Initially it took two months before any of us even met a staff member, it’s been nearly a year now and I have still only met in person three staff members.

I am often left talking via email to people I have never actually met, and any issue I need help with is just blamed on the landlord and then the landlord does the same blaming on the old support company thus leaving us in constant limbo.

It recently took two months to try and sort out a fridge which was provided with my supported housing, it took two months to be denied one.

I still don’t have a safe way to store food as I type this.

I am a vunerable and disabled adult.

It is an unsafe environment in the communal areas and car park where Southend Care failed to continue the CCTV that the previous company had, again blaming the landlords, leaving two women being harassed by another resident and extremely unsafe and unsupported to report it to the police alone without basic evidence required.

Joan Constable dealt with these issues via email, someone I have never met, and it culminated in me having to report the harrassment to the police without their support or any evidence and then having to continue living next door to said resident, something I declined to do for my own safety.

There is only one support worker that attends here now, the fire safety isn’t even carried out every week and many weeks were missed when they first took over.

This company is mismanaged, impossible to get any meaningful solutions or support from, and the only thing they want to support me in seems to be me moving on.

I have lived here little over a year now and it’s been months since they took over, it was much better staffed and managed before and that company lost the contract due to social services taking it.

Also this company is in fact owned by Southend Council so good luck complaining to them about it, it ls funded by the Council and also owned by the Council which seems a conflict of interests to me.
