I got scammed and got barely any help
I can understand that bit I found the chat service not even the slightest bit helpfull

I have used Sparkasse KoelnBonn when I was a student, and they offered me a really good student package; much better than what was offered to a few others of my friends who were using other banks (as students too).
Their app is really nice (for something that isn't an online bank in its essence like say Revolut), and it is very reliable.

One annoying thing about Sparkasse in general is that there are some things that you can only do in the branch (in the Bundesland / state) where you have opened your account (like cash deposits and account closure), but I was informed about these things when I first opened my account since Sparkasse is sort of a different entity in each state.

I can't vouch for their normal non-student packages though.

One of the worst experiences I have been exposed to in terms of banking. They do not inform clients properly and sometimes make mistakes from their side, what could result in unexpected decrease of your account amount...
Generally speaking, there seems to be a shortage of skilled personnel in the bank (some staff are absolutely ignorant).
