I have been a loyal customer with this…

I have been a loyal customer with this bank for 26 years, maintaining an impeccable credit history for over two decades. Despite my long-standing relationship and currently holding a 5-figure positive balance in my account, I was recently told I could only have a credit card (debit)as I needed a new credit card… Because I was unemployed for a brief 6-month period.
It is insulting that 26 years of reliability and significant liquidity mean nothing to their automated systems. To put this into perspective, it took me exactly 10 minutes to get approved by TF Bank.
This bank clearly no longer values long-term clients or looks at the "big picture" of a customer's financial health. As soon as the timing is right, I will be moving my funds and closing my accounts for good. Worst bank in a time where so much disruption is happening !!

Fake sign up bonus promises

The bank went on a shopping spree for personal data I guess when they promised sign up bonuses that they eventually never delivered. Beware of that practice. In Germany they utilize a system called payback. Also, it is not even one of the most convenient banks in the country.

This is a FRAUD

This is a FRAUD. My company has sent wrongly an amount at a user at this bank. If I could put 0 or -100 I would. We've been charged for the investigation, that's ok. The money has been out of the account owner. But this bank never return the money to my bank. It's been 4 months...... They changed the amount for fun (it was 275, now it's 265 euros) Don't change the amount you owe us !! I've been charged once like in novembre 50 euros for the investigation and now they décider to charge another 50 euros just for fun I guess...... So I have 215 returned minus the 50 earlier which is 165 euros....
Please don't do transfer with this bank

The bank assistant Ersen was a great help

I was served by Ersen and he was such a great support with opening my bank account, he was helpful with his expertise and what stood out to me was his kindness, patience and calm manner, he understood immediately what I needed and what was suitable for my current life style, I would highly recommend him to anyone needing help with banking. I wish they were more people like him working in a bank or elsewhere.

Formal Complaint Regarding…

Formal Complaint Regarding Unprofessional Service at Berliner Sparkasse Branch

I would like to express my dissatisfaction with the service I received at the branch on Reineckendorfer Strasse in Berlin.
As a newly arrived student in Berlin, I visited this branch to open a bank account. However, I encountered a highly unprofessional and rude staff member who made the process unnecessarily difficult. Despite presenting my valid student visa and knowing that it is sufficient for opening a bank account, the staff member insisted without checking further that I could not open an account because I lacked permanent residency. This incorrect information was both frustrating and disheartening. And when I visited another branch of the same bank they were able to open for me an account without any issues.
I want to emphasize that It was disappointing that the staff member did not take the time to verify the information, nor did they offer any assistance in resolving the matter. Later I came back to the branch as I needed an assistance with already an opened account and again the same lady met me there and surely she denied assisting me again. So every time when I need an assistance with the bank I have to go now to the furthest branch instead of the one which is right next to my apartment. This is frustrating and disappointing. I believe the lady working there is simply occupying her position without performing her duties in a professional manner.

I have NEVER in my entire life…

I have NEVER in my entire life experienced that I can NOT withdraw funds from my own account .
I have already verified my personal data through a video link , and secondly tried to transfer an amount to the holdoing companys account.
Apparently to no avail.
I will have to press charges against Berliner Sparkasse, and I have today discussed the opportunities with our lawyer in Berlin .
Apart from that it is a scam to hold customers in the waiting line for hours before answering the telephone- and when you eventually get an answer it seems to be an amateur who can´t help.
What a bank !

Sparkasse Berlin definitely needs to…

Sparkasse Berlin definitely needs to work on their customer service skills. I asked to be put through to an English speaker, I was transferred to a lady who refused to speak English in a very angry voice, and I was just told to everything online and that she couldn't help me. German customer service is horrible.

Terrible customer service

It is extremely difficult to get customer support. The The hotline number rarely answers. The Chat option is very generic. I decided to cancel my credit card after one month. I regret I have not done a deeper research about Berliner Sparkasse to avoid the frustration.

Worst Service ! even for loyal costumers ! Stay away!

I have been with Sparkasse for a decade. My bank card was going to expire at the end of 2023. Until 27 Dec I haven't received a new card, I went to a branch and requested a card, It has been over a month and I have not received any information about the status of a new card. I have been living without a bank card for a month and a half. I have been calling the hotline since it is not possible to reach the branch directly. Every time I call, I get a different information. Today I reached a woman who told me that I was not at the branch and I did not order a new card and yelled at me.
I mean how this can be? They had 10 years to get me a new card, and now that I have to spend so much time running for it, I get no assistance and get yelled at and accused of lying!
I am definitely changing my bank and will cancel all my insurances that are also with Sparkasse.

Good experience with Berliner Sparkasse Bank

I have been new to Berlin and as a masters student needed to open an account. In my very first interaction with Sandy Rothe (banker from Sparkasse bank, Spandau branch), I felt super comfortable to knowing the complete banking process and she was kind enough to converse in English and open the account for me and also explained each and every process patiently. I am glad I took thr decision to open an account here and hoping to have a positive banking experience with Sparkasse bank.

A disaster

All I have to say is: What the hell?

Context: I was notified on the 25th of March 2022 by my company that my employment was coming to an end at the end of April. Being uncertain about my future in Germany, I have decided to pack things up and leave a bit in a hurry. Before leaving, I have decided to leave my account open because I might get the money back at some point and spoke several times with employees from the bank about this matter. They told me that it was possible to close the account from abroad using the mobile app and that all I have to do is empty the account and close it with the correct command, which I did back during the month of May 2022.

HOWEVER I still receive letters even as we speak, telling me that my account not only still exists despite having used the correct commands, but that it is in the negative and still racking up monthly maintenance fees.

I reach out SEVERAL TIMES to the customer service (who can't speak a single word of English) and I get varying degrees of replies, from "The account will be close due to you not agreeing to the new data policy" to "you have to send a letter".
BUT. The worst part actually happened a month ago. I used a German colleague of mine to try to help with the situation. He reached out to the customer service in my presence and had a chat with the employee.

It turns out that, DESPITE the employees telling customers that you can close an account using the app, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE to do so and YOU HAVE TO GO TO THE BANK where you opened the account, bring the balance back to 0 and then close the account FROM THERE.

This is "lie", "deceit" AND "extortion" in one full package.
After reaching out to the customer service AGAIN later, the woman told me that I could write a letter to the bank with my current bank information, asking to even out the account balance with a transfer and then close the account. WHICH ALSO runs counter to what I've been told so far.

I have no idea what to trust anymore at this point and I will not do this. This bank is a total disaster AND a scam. Please avoid unless you want to get a headache. Also, this bank is extremely expat unfriendly as they will not utter a single word of English to help you. Not that I think they have the brain activity required to do so anyway.

This is the worst thing that can happen…

This is the worst thing that can happen in a banking sector, after 4years of closing my account I got a letter on data policy and I start to wonder why? Upon getting in touch with the so called customer support I was told my account is still active and with minus on it. the same account I already closed 4yrs back? This is a pure scam

Awful customer service, and discriminating

Do NOT open a bank account in this bank. First of all, they will charge you for both the account and the credit card, while you can get them for free in other banks in Germany.
Second, their staff are not helpful at all. They sometimes say something which is against what's written on their website!!
And third: they discriminate without any reason to back up. This has already happened to me. They chose to give a service to my friend, but not to me, while we both have a similar condition (working in Germany, with permanent residence, and a stable salary)
I am moving away from them.
