Great company, very happy to recommend - say Matthew sent you!!

From start to finish Spark Home have been excellent. Initial contact with the office and then rep Mark was encouraging. Mark visited (twice!) and we were able to get a design we are happy with at a price and payment structure which suits us. The work was carried out promptly & efficiently by Matt, Oli & Macaulay who were never less than polite and informative - in fact, they were so good that they fitted all the proposed panels into a smaller space leaving room for more panels!! Callum too was excellent and came to fit the three extra before the scaffold came down. If there was a gripe it’s that the scaffold gang were a little brusque with us and more than a bit brusque with our neighbours but a word in Nicole’s ear and appropriate apologies have been made. Which brings me to the most important point - a firm like this stands or falls on how it handles problems. Getting the job done well is mostly the easy bit; it’s what happens when things go badly that’s difficult and Spark Home have the right attitude to anticipating and overcoming problems.

Quick Install, Great Service

I’d had a few phone conversations with Spark and they sent someone over to talk us through and run figures on the reality of what we could save with Solar. The salesman was a bit pushy but we did agree to move forward. From then on the support we got from Spark was absolutely brilliant. Mark the sales guy was available for support via WhatsApp and the customer service reps for spark have all been great. I was kept in the loop and less than 3 weeks after our initial consultation our solar is already in, generating power and saving us money!

The contracted installers were great, friendly, helpful and efficient. Scaffolders did cause us a few slight issues but resolved them really quickly so all in all, no complaints!

No customer service

No part after the sale was complete went smoothly from delayed scaffolding, contractors not arriving or arriving late with no warning, we may have been unlucky with sub contractors absences & weather conditions also delayed but we didn't receive a single courtesy call informing us of any issues & we had to chase them for updates at every step. Once the job was completed they did manage to call quite rapidly to request we confirm completion so they can get their money. Now complete we're happy enough with the install but a 1 day job took 6 days, Spark had no answers to any queries as they dont appear to communicate with their sub-contractors or the customers until something goes wrong. They did accept the install got off to a bad start & offered £250 apology & said this very rarely happens to them but we find that hard to believe as nothing improved afterwards, they clearly send the job request to their sub contractors & then cross their fingers & hope all goes well.

You’ve stated there was "no customer service”, yet you also mention that Spark:

Acknowledged the issues early on
Accepted responsibility for the delays
Handled your complaint directly
Offered £250 in goodwill compensation

That is, by definition, customer service — and more than many companies would do when part of the delay comes from factors outside their control, including subcontractor availability and severe weather conditions.

To be clear:

Spark did not ignore the problems
Spark did not deny the delays
Spark did not refuse support
Spark did not walk away once payment was requested

In fact, you received compensation before the job was signed off, which demonstrates that we were actively working with you to acknowledge and resolve the situation — not avoiding communication.

Subcontractors & Weather

Scaffolding delays and weather-related issues are unfortunately possible in construction work. While we fully accept there were communication gaps (and apologised for them), these delays do not reflect a lack of care — they reflect unpredictable operational challenges, which we addressed directly with you.

The Outcome

You also stated that:

“Now complete we’re happy enough with the install.”

So the installation quality met expectations. The issue was the schedule, which we rectified, apologised for, and compensated.

In Summary

It’s absolutely fair to say your experience didn’t run perfectly — and we acknowledged that. But suggesting Spark provided “no customer service” does not accurately reflect the steps we took:

We admitted the job did not start well
We investigated the delays
We maintained communication once the issue was raised
We compensated you
We ensured the installation was completed to standard

We stand by the apology and goodwill gesture offered, and we remain committed to improving the subcontractor communication process so situations like this are minimised.

Sparks solar have just completed my…

Sparks solar have just completed my solar installation.
The 3 lads John, Arun and the other lad turned up about 08.00 on Monday morning. After me quickly asking them a question about how things stand with any failure to the roof.
They rang Sparks and I spoke to a gentleman, who answered the question and put my mind at rest.
Once sorted they cracked on with the installation.
The jib was completed by about 13.30. Everything fitted clean and tidy. The lads cleaned as they went
Aron set up the app and the wifi connection did the test. They had fitted 12 panels, batteries and charger in 6 hours and cleaned up.
I would definitely recommend Sparks solar.
Previous to having solar fitted. We spoke to Kiefer over a zoom call who explained everything from how the whole system worked and hopefully what we will save.
Once again thanks to all involved.

WOW! FANTASTIC!

WOW! Just where do we begin?
With Steve Marriott who is simply FIRST CLASS at explaining, to two old wrinklies who had no real prior knowledge of what exactly we needed of an appropriate system to suit our home and circumstances, with clarity, patience and expertise. At no time did my husband and I feel rushed or pressurised into making any decisions which in this day and age is a rare occurence and very much appreciated. Steve's attention to detail we consider second to none.
Once our decision was made to go ahead, the Office Team of Alex, Jordan and Nicola kept us informed throughout and explanations to our many reflective questions handled in a timely, reassuring and professional manner. Nothing was ever too much trouble and we felt extremely valued. Again very much appreciated.
Now on to the install. All the scaffolders were extremely friendly, respectful and courteous, arriving on time and then working in horrendous conditions to complete their install in such a tidy fashion. Next up we had A.J., Joe and the team arrive to place the solar panels on to our slate roof with internal exposed beams. Again, care, attention to detail and professionalism were the names of the day and we were absoltely thrilled with the quality of install of the nineteen solar panels over two roofs of our home. The panels themselves fit seamlessly and are so discreet with no silver edges breaking up the roof line. Absolutely fabulous - far better than we ever imagined aesthetically.
And finally on to the wonderful electricians. Only two companies had been able to quote for the three phase meter at our now residential property, so the electrics were not straightforward. The delightful Sully, Louie and Billy who worked tirelessly again in horrendous conditions to link us up and install our nine batteries. Well into the evening all of the concerns my husband and I as 70 year olds, shared regarding the technical implications and monitoring disappeared when Sully and Louie patiently installed our apps for us, offered advice and clearly explained each and every detail with genuine customer care and empathy. Thank you so very much.
When a slight glitch occurred in operations Sully even came out to us on a Sunday morning to diagnose the issue. What more could you ever ask for? Finally, Callum visited all the way from Cornwall to Leicestershire to run a software update and all batteries were equalised and up and running.
We cannot praise Spark Solar enough and would highly recommend this company to anyone considering solar panels. The communication, attention to detail, craftsmanship, the care and pride in the work they offer a customer is ABSOLUTELY TOPS.

Terrible SCAM company won’t take no for…

Terrible SCAM company won’t take no for an answer. Constantly ringing asking for someone who does not exist in our lives. Very rude staff and AI system. Just another company out to make money through hard sales and if they don’t get their own way they get abusive and swear at you.
They also seem to think it’s funny when you try speaking to a manager to report abusive harassment and hang up on you.
A very sad pathetic group of Scammers who can’t do a real job so they prey on the vulnerable.

Highly recommend

Overall my experience has been excellent!
From enquiring about getting a quote to now the system being installed has taken about 3 weeks.

Laurence who came to do the initial assessment and quote was very knowledgable and friendly. We weren't 100% committed to getting solar panels, but the information pack provided along with Laurence's answers to our questions convinced us it was the right decision to go ahead.

The guys fitting the system were efficient and got the system up and running super quickly which I was impressed by, as I was warned they may need to come back a second day to do their checks (because of it being winter and limited daylight hours).

I am leaving a 5 star review however, I was disappointed by the team doing the scaffolding as they were meant to arrive on Friday, and my partner had taken the day to be in for them. Unfortunately, after waiting most of the day and not receiving any notification from them that they were running late or unable to attend, I eventually rang up Spark customer care as the sun was starting to set, and only after them chasing up with the contractor did I get told they were delayed and unlikely to attend and would be here first thing Monday (installation day) before the installers. Monday arrived and the installers got here at 8am, but were sat doing not very much because the scaffolding guys didn't arrive until 10am.

Thid adds to why I am incredibly impressed by the installers considering they had the delay and also having to work in fairly miserable weather, and yet they still managed to get everything fitted and working before sundown.

I couldn't recommend Spark enough as everyone has been very friendly and shown great skill and expertise.
