Not Spark's fault but setting up SEG is…

Not Spark's fault but setting up SEG is very difficult. The terms are unfamiliar, the energy company is no real help, the smart meter displays are quite different from what the energy company say. Take into account if considering a panel/battery system. A lot of background knowledge and computer skills needed.

Thank you for sharing your experience — and we completely understand your frustration. The SEG setup process can be confusing, especially when different suppliers use different terminology, systems, and smart meter displays.

However, it may be worth reconsidering the 2-star rating, as the issues you’re describing are entirely on the energy supplier’s side rather than anything related to Spark’s installation, equipment, or service. Once your system is installed and commissioned, the SEG application is handled between you and your chosen electricity provider, and unfortunately each provider has their own process, requirements, and quirks.

That said, we’re always happy to help however we can. Many customers reach out to us during their SEG application, and we guide them through the steps, terminology, and the documents their energy company needs. If you'd like us to walk you through it or help untangle what your supplier is asking for, just let us know — we’re here to make it easier.

We’re glad you raised the point for future customers, but we’d love the chance to support you and hopefully turn your experience into a 5-star one.

Poor customer service, no means no.

Incredibly persistent, rude, ask invasive questions, will not leave you alone when you say you are no longer interested.

I’m absolutely delighted with the whole…

I’m absolutely delighted with the whole experience. The installers were polite, professional, and worked efficiently from start to finish. They explained everything clearly and left the place spotless. The panels are up and running perfectly, and I couldn’t be happier with the result. Highly recommend this team!

Highly recommend spark solar, professional and friendly from start to finish, booked in for my assessment with (Scott) I believe his name was, very professional, I was 50/50 going into solar, that soon changed after the call, Had my system installed a week, couldn’t be more happier with the service

Positive from the start and right through

Right from the start the process and interaction with Spark was very positive from initial contact after I’d clicked on a link to the sales visit with Mark then a very swift turnaround a little over two weeks and we were down to be installed on November 14th!
The poor installation guys who turned up on probably the coldest wettest (Fri)day in the last six-eight months and just cracked on Billy, AJ, Sully and Louie! All in pretty good humour as well
Unfortunately due to the subcontracted scaffolders being delayed they weren’t able to finish the install on the day but arranged to come back after the weekend, sadly unable to get back on the Monday, due to the next instal taking longer than expected but did get out to me on a rapidly darkening Tuesday afternoon and managed to finish it off. Sully then patiently took me through the app when I’m sure he’d much rather have been sat in a warm van on his way home!
So overall despite the niggle of the delays the job itself was done very well and sometimes things happen it’s how you deal with them that matters and this team did you proud

Very approachable and honest sales team

I contacted the Spark sales team today and spoke with Adam Charles with an initial enquiry about a solar package for my house. I wanted to bottom out a few things with him before we got too far into making any arrangemements for a visit and he was very open and helpful in doing this. Due to his obvious knowledge and diligent questions back to me he quickly established that at this point in time, solar panels would not help me make any savings particularly as a long term project given how relatively low my current energy costs are. To be honest I was impressed with his honesty and it made such a change to speak to someone with integrity these days! My source of energy is reliant on a form of solid fuel that although will never run out it may well find itself outlawed in the next few years and I will have to consider other sources. At that point and due to the service I received today Spark will almost certainly be first on my list to call again. So a valued phone call that today might not have won Spark my custom may well do so in the future and I hope Adam is still around to talk to then. The company gets a thumbs up from me so far!

The sales pitch was excellent and we…

The sales pitch was excellent and we paid the £3000+ deposit, but on reflection we found the price too high for our budget.
We aksked for the deposit to be returned, but are still waiting, it sits in our account waiting to be released by Spark. Not a real issue except I cancelled the agreement on 3 November and we are still waiting for our funds to be repayed. Come on Spark accounts, return our deposit, please.

It is 12 Nov and the deposit still has not been returned to my account, and sits there pending!!!
Sadly, Spark accept payment on the same day, but take over 10 days to return deposits, a common method to invest clients funds for a week or more.
Will i get interest on my payment???

Thanks for getting in touch, and we're sorry for the frustration here.

To confirm: your deposit refund was processed on our side via Stripe on 3 Nov 2025, 14:40.

Refunds issued to the original payment method typically take 7–10 business days to appear on your statement (card issuers can sometimes take a little longer to post them). Since you cancelled on 3 November, you should see the funds shortly, within that normal window.

A couple of helpful next steps:

If the refund hasn’t shown after 10 business days, we can provide the Acquirer Reference Number (ARN) so your bank can trace it quickly.

You can also check with your card issuer for pending credits, as they sometimes show before they’re fully posted.

We don’t hold the funds after initiating the refund; at this stage it’s with Stripe and your card issuer’s processing timelines.
