My experience with Spartan was nothing short of horrific.
Spartan used aggressive threats and collection tactics while simultaneously refusing to provide the information necessary to verify the amounts they claimed were owed. Rather than answering straightforward questions or supplying documentation to support the balance, they were unresponsive and difficult to deal with.
What was particularly troubling was the addition of fees and charges that appeared to increase the claimed balance over time. When I requested an explanation of those amounts, meaningful responses were not provided. Instead, threats and demands for payment continued while basic questions about the debt remained unanswered.
Even more concerning, Spartan's actions resulted in restrictions affecting personal financial accounts that had no relationship to the business matter at issue, causing significant disruption, stress, and inconvenience. They did not even place these restrictions until AFTER the account was paid.
The most frustrating part is that our problems began when we believed the account should have been paid in full—or very close to being paid off. Rather than providing a clear accounting, answering questions, or helping reconcile the balance, Spartan refused to provide the requested information. Instead, additional fees continued to be added, and legitimate questions about what was actually owed went unanswered. It felt as though every attempt to obtain clarity was met with silence, while the amount claimed continued to grow.
A company handling sensitive financial matters should be transparent, accurate, and willing to communicate with the people it is pursuing. Unfortunately, my experience was the exact opposite. The combination of aggressive threats, lack of responsiveness, refusal to provide information, escalating fees, and interference with unrelated personal accounts created an extremely frustrating and damaging experience.
I would strongly caution anyone dealing with Spartan to keep detailed records of every communication, request written verification of all amounts claimed, and carefully review any fees or charges being added to the balance.
If you don't have an account with them, I would encourage you to rethink taking any MCA loan with them.
