Missed my cataracts, sold me useless glasses, won’t refund.
I’ve been a customer at Specsavers Asker for a while, bought two pairs of computer glasses there. Last year I started having serious glare sensitivity, tired eyes, redness. My GP referred me to get tested for cataracts.
When I called Specsavers in December to book the test, they called me back saying I probably didn’t need one because they didn’t see cataracts in my August 2025 exam. Instead they recommended far-distance glasses. I trusted their advice and paid for glasses based on my old test. They were completely unusable. Worst headache of my life, couldn’t see past 2 meters.
When I asked for a refund, they said no. Only option was to remake them.
Months later, symptoms much worse, I went back for a new test. Result? Cataracts. Progressing fast. So they missed it in August, talked me out of following my doctor’s referral in December, sold me glasses I never needed, and now refuse to refund. On top of that I need new computer glasses too because the cataracts changed my prescription.
To top it off, when I went for my latest eye test they kept the unusable distance glasses, saying they’d wait until after my cataracts are treated to make new ones. So now they have both my money and the glasses, and I have nothing.

Although I have now been confirmed through dialogue with the workplace manager that I was entitled to use the glasses scheme, I was misinformed by their staff, who were unaware of the rules. This led to me being charged a full 4000 kroner for both the eye test and the glasses. The staff said that I could not use the scheme because I already wore glasses, but this is not true according to the university manager. Due to this mistake, I was led to choose glasses that I can now not get reimbursed by the emplyer. I am very dissatisfied and would not recommend this shop to anyone, as even the staff lack knowledge of the rules. I am left with a loss of 4000 kroner that I cannot get compensated for, and this is a mistake that cannot be corrected.

During my eye test, the optician seemed rushed, and I didn’t feel she took the time to do a thorough examination. When I picked up my glasses on Saturday, they felt very strange — the floor seemed tilted, and it didn’t feel like the prescription was correct. I immediately mentioned this to the person who handed me the glasses, but she dismissed it, saying that it was “just something I needed to get used to.” These aren’t my first pair of glasses, and while I understand needing to adjust to a new prescription, I shouldn’t feel dizzy or as if the floor is slanted. I was really frustrated that the woman dismissed what I said with such a bad attitude. While I’m sure they’re knowledgeable about glasses, I know my own eyes and what I’m experiencing. She should have taken my feedback seriously and done something to verify whether the prescription was correct or if there was another issue.

I bought 3 pairs of glasses, including a pair of sunglasses.
14 days later I went to pick them up as agreed upon.
At pickup it turned out 1 of the glasses (the sunglasses) had dots on the glass that could not be removed, so they needed to get me new ones.
While far from ideal, I accept mistakes can happen.
But here I am 18 days later and I still haven't got sunglasses.
So I decided to enquire where my sunglasses are, and called them.
The answer was: The package in the mail now, it has taken longer because of holiday.
As I am writing this I still haven't got them and this being friday, it will take Specsavers 35 days minimum from me ordering the sunglasses to delivery of a useable pair.
That is assuming they don't have sircular dots on the glass this time.
The really annoying part is that it takes longer to have a pair of brand new glasses replaced than the time they have taken to produce 3 pairs.
I'm also annoyed that there is absolutely no information about this taking unreasonably long as I only found out when I contacted them myself.
That is not prioritizing the customer at all and certainly not a recipe for generating repeat customers.
I will not be using this company in the future.

I've just returned from my appointment with specsavers (Lanark)
I made an appointment using their online booking system over a week ago for Friday 28/10/22 13.30pm this was followed up by a text message and email before attending the appointment. There was no mention during any of these communications of a 5 minute grace period after which I would not be given my appointment. You can Imagine my surprise to be told I would not receive my eye test due to the 5 minute grace period. . I explained to the receptionist that I had arrived in plenty of time but had, had trouble parking due to a funeral taking place and also school buses dropping off school children and there being no available parking. I ended up having to park at Morrisons. I even tried to ring them several times on route to explain that I was there and the problem I was having to get no answer from them.
I would have thought given the strains on the high street and the circumstances I would have had my eye test and maybe returned for glasses that wouldn't have been much of an problem. But to be turned away after explaining the circumstances maybe it gave the optician time for a coffee before the next appointment came in. I will go elsewhere not impressed with staff or Branch.

I recently visited SpecSavers in Stavanger with my son for an eye test appointment and contact lens test. I then subscribed to a contact lens subscription offer for my son, believing we were receiving a great subscription offer. I was initially disappointed that the offer was not quite as advertised and felt that I had been misled by the offer on the internet.
The SpecSavers staff in the Stavanger store were very apologetic and extremely professional. I was advised to follow up my complaint with their Scandinavian management team. I did just that and was very surprised at how well my complaint was received and how honest and open they were to deal with. I was then put in touch, directly with the Norway management team, and they followed up my concerns with their legal team and immediately changed the advertising on their website, to ensure that it could not be construed as misleading. Throughout the entire process, all of the staff were extremely apologetic and very honest and straight forward to deal with. The communications were excellent and I was also rewarded with a kind good will gift gesture for informing them and taking the time to follow up.
I was actually so impressed with the honesty and integrity of everyone I dealt with at SpecSavers, that I actually went a step further and attended an eye test appointment myself, and purchased two pairs of glasses and signed up for a contact lens trial.
Since then my younger daughter has also attended an eye test appointment, and my wife is planning to attend an appointment too. Making this a true family affair.
We really were that impressed at the way we were treated and the excellent level of service we have received.
Previously we had been with other similar high street brands, but without a doubt SpecSavers exceeded the others by far. In my opinion they are very worthy of the accolade of 5 Star service and excellent customer satisfaction. Well done SpecSavers Norge.
