Not very many people there - after the original date was rearranged due to lack of participants. There could have been the first drink included in the ticket price

It was good but there were a few things I might change.
This was only my second speed date night.
The first one I went on (different organiser), it was in a separate room and the organiser was able to use a microphone to tell everyone the rules at the same time. So it felt more structured.
Being with other customers was a different feel, but fine.
I would maybe ring the bell at the very start too, not just at the change time, we weren’t sure if we had started yet.
A few women didn’t show up, that’s not the organisers fault, but it did affect the night.
I would go back.

I felt like when I was on my speed dating when I was moving tables it felt like it was very quick and you didn’t have enough time to say what you wanted to say if we had more time I think it would be so much better say like 10 minutes Because it felt like it was very quick and then move onto the next table and then you’re talking and then like the same thing very quickly and it just felt like not enough time so what I would like for people who do go there wherever to have more time and yeah I just think more time for it would be would’ve been better but overall it’s pretty good

Event was cancelled twice and had to chase to get my money back. There are better speed dating companies out there. Dont waste your time booking with this one!

Event was cancelled by host who was, by far, the only positive part in this as she was lovely. She said contact them via email and make it clear that as it was cancelled by the host, a full refund was due (I believe if you leave prior to this then you're not entitled to one). I've sent emails and spoken to an extremely unhelpful representative and still nothing. I bought two tickets as it was me and a friend and they're refusing that despite me providing a screenshot from my bank which shows the money and also, the host was able to see I'd purchased two tickets so it's clearly there, they're just refusing to give me my money back. Awful company, poorly planned and poorly executed, clearly only interested in taking your money and nothing else. Absolutely avoid at all costs!

Much smaller than advertised, felt like a large number were connected to the host. Didn’t really enjoy it.

Whole experience was terrible. Dingy venue. No check on ages of men. No welcome drink. I didn't receive a confirmation email via eventbrite. Having to do the matches/non matches should be admin the company does, otherwise people won't bother. Don't waste your time.

I thought the host was lovely and very welcoming. The environment was nice and it made a great venue for meeting new people. I would attend again.

The host, Rose, is really friendly and great at making everyone feel at ease. The event was well organised. The music was a bit loud at times and hard to hear the other person.

Review of Single and Mingle Speed Dating Events

I have been attending speed dating events from Single and Mingle and similar companies for over two and a half years, and I feel compelled to share my experience as a demisexual, neurodivergent man with dyslexia. Unfortunately, my experience has been overwhelmingly negative.

Despite sincere participation, I have never had a single match or meaningful follow-up from any event. The advertising often uses pressure tactics like “limited spots for men” or “women’s list full,” creating false expectations of balanced attendance and romantic success. In reality, many events are unbalanced or poorly attended.

What’s more troubling is the emotional impact. After repeated failures, the follow-up messages seem designed to guilt participants into trying again, without any real support or acknowledgment of individual needs. There is no consideration for those of us who require emotional connection over quick surface-level interactions, nor any adjustments for neurodivergent or dyslexic participants. The booking systems and forms are difficult to navigate, and there are no options to disclose orientation or accessibility requirements.

Overall, the system feels less like a genuine dating service and more like a mechanism to keep men paying without delivering results. I would urge the company to reconsider its advertising language, improve accessibility and inclusivity, and offer real support for people who don’t fit the typical fast-paced dating mold.

Until changes are made, I cannot recommend these events for demisexual or neurodivergent men seeking meaningful connection.

Booked for an event which they cancelled and never informed me and a friend so arrived to be let down.
Rescheduled and they then cancel that event too. Won’t ever be using this company again.

Here is a breakdown of my experiences using Speed Dater in Newcastle:
- I booked an event in Autumn of 2024. It was cancelled due to low attendance and I got a voucher.
- I used my voucher on an event in early 2025. It was cancelled due to low attendance and I got a voucher.
- I used my voucher on an event in April which went ahead. Well attended event, good venue although the music was too loud to hear the person running the event.
- I booked another event. Low attendance, about 12 men to 3/4 ladies. The girl running it was nice, tough gig, she gave us all vouchers at the end.
- I booked an event with the voucher. It never went ahead.
- At this point, I stopped receiving correspondence about events via SMS and email. I never found out why this was the case.
- I used the voucher to book another event. Turned up. Nobody there. I emailed to find out what was going on, it had been cancelled. (I hadn't been notified).
- The website wasn't allowing me to use my voucher so I accidentally booked another event with money. I flagged this up with support.
- I received this response: "Unfortunately our site is suffering a glitch, meaning vouchers are not working."
- I pleaded for a refund but was rejected and given another voucher instead. (You know? The ones that weren't working?)
- I checked my account last week, and now have no vouchers.
- I queried this and have been booked into another event, (seemingly automatically) in place of a voucher, on an event I am unable to attend.
- The other voucher seems to have expired, or evaporated, or flagged as being used. (Could well have been on a cancelled event).
- I was not notified about the fact I have been booked into another event. (That I can't attend) I had to bully that information out of them.

Stick a fork in me, I'm done. I won't be booking anymore. Best of luck everyone.

Well organised, lovely host and great location. First time going speed dating and I really enjoyed meeting so many different types of people. Would recommend 👌

Event got cancelled with no prior notification.
After complaining to the customer service they booked me 2 more events as compensation.
Those 2 events got cancelled as well.
