This site is a total joke. The "renters" don't respond and neither does their "customer service" ......total waste of time.

Information provided by various external sources

How it works for people listing: 1) Members easily sign up through our web platform, iOS app, or Android app. 2) They list their bicycles, skis, snowboards, SUPs, or surfboards with real photos, to rent to likeminded people worldwide. They set their own price, which they can also adjust per rental. 3) Users searching for equipment in their area request to rent for specified days and times. Listers can easily turn down an offer if the agreement doesn’t work for them. 4) Money is transferred securely prior to pick up, eliminating any uncomfortable conversations or non-payment. 5) Every bike listed is insured up to $5,000, skis/snowboards $1,000, and SUPs/surfboards $2,000 against theft or damage, making the experience completely safe for every person listing their gear. Both renters and listers can review each other and become verified through Facebook, Twitter, and cell phone. How it works for the renter: 1) Users search for bikes, skis, snowboards, SUPs, or surfboards in the area they wish to rent. 2) They view the equipment available in that area and make a request to rent the ride. 3) There is an in-app chat feature allowing both parties to communicate about price, components, verifications, reviews, etc. Once the lister decides they will rent the equipment to the person requesting, they “confirm” the request. 4) Renter pays for the rental and picks up their equipment at the negotiated time and place.

What do you have to lose?

I have only listed my bikes for rent on spinlister. I haven't yet need to rent a bike. Everyone I have dealt with, from renters to spinlister customer service, has been great. I tell all my friends about it and encourage everyone I know with an extra bike in the garage to list it.

Great concept, not a lot of worthwhile users

This is a great idea, in theory. But I didn't get a lot of people wanting to rent my bike. The ones that were interested wanted it for only brief periods of time, making it not worth my while to do the legwork of arranging pickup and dropoff. Do I want to exchange multiple emails, multiple text messages, and rendezvous twice so I can pocket fifteen dollars? No. If more people wanted it for a week at a time, it would make more sense.

Rented biked in NYC

On our trip from Ottawa, Canada to NYC, NY we rented some biked near central park. Everything was seamless with the emails from Spinlister and connecting to the bicycle owner/ renter. The original rental date it ended up raining and I asked to move it to the next day - no problem. Things were moved around without any issues. I would definitely use Spinlister again and would recommend it to any of my friends!!

Best of the share economy

For some reason, not many bike rental businesses are on this site, as there are analogously on AirBnB or Uber. That's what share economy sites such Spinlister are supposed to be like

Bike rental is top priority wherever I travel. Spinlister's prices are great and it's a great opportunity to try a bike with personality.

Cool service.

I've used this when traveling to other cities. Everything has gone pretty smoothly, and the one hiccup I had once with a bicycle owner was professionally handled by Spinlister. The long and the short of it is that I was asked to lock up the guy's bike in a certain place to leave it for him to come pick up (because my rental was over), and it was stolen because he waited 6 days to pick it up. I explained everything by email to Spinlister and that was that. I'd recommend sending a text picture of the bike locked up if the owner is asking you to lock it up somewhere at the end of the rental.

Great service

Used a couple times when visiting NYC. Only negative is that pricing can vary widely with crummy bikes listed much higher than better rides, so caveat emptor.

Spinlister: a better way to rent a bike!

Spinlister advances consumer satisfaction by providing the personal touch free of the pressures found in the Brick and Mortar settings. Spinlister allows a pier to pier experience that gives biking a great name.

Fantastic system, works and feels great

Loaning out personal property - especially something valuable like a bicycle - takes a leap, and Spinlister verifies the customer for you, and provides insurance should anything happen.

Spinlister is the universal and international way to find a bike to rent.

From my mobile phone I can find a bike to rent in cities around the world. I like being able to find the right bike for me from any private party willing to share their wheels for a few days. Also, when I have visitors from out of town it is a good way to let them find the right bike to do some touring with me.

Great website and great service

I've only used Spinlister once, when I went to New York (Brooklyn) for a week last summer.
I found a bike that was totally affordable for the week, though it was in pretty poor condition. (You get what you pay for, right?)
I would definitely use this again for another trip and will likely put my spare bike on the site to rent, once I've tuned it up a bit.

Thrilled such a site/service exists.

I have only used others' bikes, not rented out my own. I had one snafu with gaining access to a bike in Portland, OR. The owner wasn't overly easy to reach, but it was resolved within an hour.

Easy, inexpensive!

I used Spinlister to rent a bike for a fun ride with some friends. My renter was really nice and flexible and I paid less than my friends who rented from bike shops.
