Product details

Brand: Spitfire Audio

Spitfire’s first dry scoring stage ensemble, inspired by the eclectic genius of Bernard Herrmann. Renowned for his groundbreaking scores including Citizen Kane, Psycho, Vertigo and Taxi Driver, his legacy continues to inspire the work of composers today. We’ve worked exclusively with Bernard Herrmann’s estate to curate and assemble a unique set of studio orchestra ensembles, informed directly by the composer’s legendary orchestration aesthetic. Recorded at Studio One, AIR Studios by renowned engineer Simon Rhodes ( Avatar, Spectre, Harry Potter, There Will Be Blood), we’ve captured players performing as Herrmann would have chosen – boisterous, lively and upfront, with patches featuring selected groups, unusual instrumental combinations, chords, effects and much more. Fire up this versatile toolkit for lively and distinctive scoring.

I am in Love, I loved his soundtracks, I love this!

A brilliant product, created with a selection of beautiful sounds, fascinating tones that inspire you to make music. Sounds rich in poetic suggestions, crafted with warm, authentic, and truly beautiful musical colors. Well done!

The work that has been done here by the Spitfire team is astonishing and formidable. We end up with an extraordinary musical palette, in line with Herrmann's instrumental and orchestral genius, but with a modern sound that can take us as far today as we ourselves can go, especially when combined with other banks, where its contribution becomes less obvious but subtle and luminous. Just one point: we need to get away from the unpleasant Kontak interface and switch to the Spitfire interface.

Awesome, love it. This has plenty of inspiring patches. Exactly what I was hoping for to add to a current work composition.

A good inspiration library to write in the style of Bernard Herrmann

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Bernard Herrmann's state of mind is totally part of this library. You can find the emblematic sounds of his compositions in this library. The sound of the studio and the mixes of the instruments participate in this so particular atmosphere which one can find in the films that Bernard Herrmann has scored with his beautiful compositions. Bravo Spitfire Audio for this very original and unique library

The Bernard Herrmann Toolkit is so good but unfortunately functioning at 50% for me. Although I’ve installed all samples. I’ve had Albion One installed for years and it’s worked flawless. They suspect the BH Toolkit does not like the way my drive is formatted. I don’t consider myself to be a tech guru by any means so I’m sure this is something I should know. Just a little frustrating after weeks of trouble, a delayed project and now the suggestion to go buy an external drive to test this theory out.

I've wanted this product for years and now I have it its even better than I thought it would be. It's moody, dark and inspiring. Beautifully played and recorded library. It will be a go-to for a long time.

I'm just now getting into the library, but it's so cool. This is one of those libraries that I always wanted, but couldn't quite justify buying since I had so many others. It's sort of specific, but at the same time, very versatile. I was able to snag it for half off, but it's definitely worth the full price. So many unique possibilities. It's quite an inspiring package. And if you're a Herrmann fan (you should be), then this is a must. Thanks again, Spitfire!

Very inspiring library ! Only small disappointment… flutes ..as group , no solo flute , … I wish there would be more solo sounds … like trumpet with different sordinos , trombone as well … and separate violin , viola , cello , bass sections , not only high or low strings ( low in octaves ). Still , very inspiring library . It sounds like real deal ( recordings of B. Hermann ) , very specific timbre and microphones position . Most of B.H. Combinations of sounds. Brilliant idea! As “ stand alone” library … well not quite… because of missing separate sections ( solo) but let’s remember it’s a tool kit …and it certainly does what promised. As an extension to main library like BBC SYMPHONY PRO , great tool!

This library encapsulates Bernard Herrmann's style beautifully, giving many possibilities to a score. I immediately found usage for it, and it truly is a different library in its instrument combinations, chord patches, and horror elements.

The Bernhard Herrmann Composer Toolkit is a very intuitive, sensitive, in-depth software, actually an instrument that will accompany me into new, still very unknown composition spheres ! A very innovative, great achievement that Spitfire Audio achieved here ! , Great !

The general sound is amazing, and the groups are carefully thought out. Excellent library for an in-your-face, vintage score.

Love the "in your face" nature of this library, it sounds brilliant. You might sound like Bernard Herrmann or not (I don't) but that's not the point, it's very usable for different styles. Flexible but also quick and easy to use if you need it to be - one note orchestra chords for example.

Cool and weighty. This is a substantial library with sounds that punctuate the mood.
