Product details

Brand: Spitfire Audio

Spitfire’s first dry scoring stage ensemble, inspired by the eclectic genius of Bernard Herrmann. Renowned for his groundbreaking scores including Citizen Kane, Psycho, Vertigo and Taxi Driver, his legacy continues to inspire the work of composers today. We’ve worked exclusively with Bernard Herrmann’s estate to curate and assemble a unique set of studio orchestra ensembles, informed directly by the composer’s legendary orchestration aesthetic. Recorded at Studio One, AIR Studios by renowned engineer Simon Rhodes ( Avatar, Spectre, Harry Potter, There Will Be Blood), we’ve captured players performing as Herrmann would have chosen – boisterous, lively and upfront, with patches featuring selected groups, unusual instrumental combinations, chords, effects and much more. Fire up this versatile toolkit for lively and distinctive scoring.

Really interesting sound. Inspiring and useful.

I must say that it has taken quite a while to work out how to use this VI Wonderland. Especially, since the unanticipated release of several subsequent 'studio' followups recorded in the same Air Lindhurst recording room, have I found the perfect, affordable flexibility that I am now appreciating as a stellar toolkit for a range of compositional excitement that I have yearned for over a long period. At first, I thought the enforced combinations of instruments somewhat limiting, but I have since discovered them to be liberating. Perhaps this collection could be considered as the 'acquired taste', but most definitely savoured.

Splendida idea innanzitutto, la scelta delle combinazioni strumentali e l'accuratezza dei campionamenti sonori, rendono affascinante questa libreria, preziosa, creativa e unica A great idea first, the choice of instrumental combinations and the accuracy of sound sampling, make this orchestral library very precious, creative and unique.

An inspired library developed from the orchestral palette of a film world genius.

Awesome - nothing like it, thank you Spitfire!

I had been deliberating for a long while about which orchestral library to purchase from Spitfire, and without a doubt the Bernard Herrmann library was worth every penny. The flexibility, diversity and customisability of this library is an ideal tool for a starting stroke of the orchestral world. Naturally it has it's limits by not necessarily having each instrument from an orchestra, but the combinations in this library are simply fantastic for scoring or even using as the body of a composition in conjunction with other Spitfire products.

The sound is great, and the instruments are really playful. Love the legato high string section, and of course the Horns. It's perfect for composing tribute to Bernard Hermann, but not only. Combined with others bank, the BHCT is useful in other styles of writing!

With an absolute stunning, beautiful, and captivating sound, I was moved from the first note. Easy to install, with an interface that is a delight to navigate , and a collection of superior sounds that will be enjoyed beyond a lifetime. Amazing. Thank You.

This is my first orchestral library. I choosed this one for these reasons: dry and vivid sound, great selection of instruments (ensembles) and articulations. To my ears the Spitfire Audio libraries have something special so I want to buy some more.

SO inspirational out of the box! Great sound quality and combination patches. The dry sound really helps to mix into any project. Wonderful!

It is an excellent composer tool kit as the name implies. It is different to the Albion range in sound, tone, and reverb being dryer and with more presence. Using this library with various other Spitfire libraries and 3rd party libraries requires some work with the balances and reverbs . I had expected that there were going to be more individual instruments rather than premixed sections - particularly with the wind sections - but it turns out that the combinations are very useable and took my composing/arranging in new directions.

What can I say, it is such a great tool. All my life, since my childhood, I've been raised with Bernard Hermann's music in movies and others. But what a surprise when I discovered Spitfire's tribute to him with this collection. So, as I bought it. And believe me, the samples are amazing. Just that, you really get the sounds that are typical to Bernard Hermann and the quality is great especially for certain instruments. I am thrilled by the sounds when I am composing. Not sure if I am as good as Bernard Herrmann, but the feeling is almost there ;)

Best Spitfire purchase of 2018! This toolkit is a gem. I'd love to say it's rubbish so less people have this... but I need to be honest and spread the love. Buy it!

Fantastic! All around great addition to the Spitfire arsenal. Significant enough difference in sound to help create its own aesthetic, while still able to 'play nice' with other Spitfire libraries (I used it with Sable). Particularly love the trombone/low strings and the trumpet sounds.
