Brand: Spitfire Audio

The critically acclaimed British Drama Toolkit provides an instinctive yet intense connection to the heart of your composition. Created in collaboration with composer Samuel Sim, it features an ensemble dedicated to the emotionally potent sound he is lauded for — but also presents a unique way of interacting with the players, which sets this instrument apart from anything we have created to date. For anyone looking to embrace an alternative approach to scoring, this NKS library toolkit gives you full creative freedom without the barrier of technology — allowing you to simply respond to the scene in front of you. We can’t write your music for you, but we can help you find your voice.

Another brilliant, practical, and organic sounding instrument for Spitfire Audio. I own a few products from Spitfire Audio and each has raised the bar in a different way. The design point makes writing cues as naturally musical a process as it can be, and sound quality is second to none. British Drama Toolkit takes a complicated process and puts it in the context of a musician playing a part-from thought to sound. The organic quality of this library truly sets it apart from many other “instant cue” type libraries. It finds its own voice instantly and compliments yours.

I picked this up because it seemed interesting as a concept and quite different from other libraries that Spitfire I have. I loaded up several patches into a multi and immediately fell in love with the possibilities it gave me for sketching, allowing me to control a subtle play of timbres that also allows for melodic writing.I find the velocity control on this fits my playing quite well, allowing me to bring out different notes with surprising control. The sound of the various instruments is also lovely. I only wish it had oboe, bassoon, and horn to fill out the palette...

This is great. The premise is that it's easy to sketch ideas that sound good, and that you're not always 100% sure what the library will give you in return. In other words, little evo-style flourishes and textures. It's also very inspirational - every time I open up this library, I end up with a larger piece with other elements.

Outstanding Sound Quality as always, offers a lot of very lively, highly emotional sounds. Great stand-alone library, but really excels in combination with other Spitfire Products like Chamber Strings etc.

Great tool for orchestral pads, realistic breath of orchestra, easy to fit and use in a final mix (not only for mockups)

A tool that I have needed. Speeds up workflow significantly. The samples themselves are a nice addition to add movement and texture to a variety of styles as well as the quality of the "solo" voices. Nice addition to any of the "grid" products. And, importantly, two handed playing!

Adds a sense of reality and musicianship to my compositions. It offers something different to my other sample libraries, which is why I bought it, and it's delivered. The sound quality is excellent.

The British Drama Toolkit is great library. I'm able to put together very expressive, 'live' and emotional sounding pieces really quickly. Another great product from Spitfire!

Another awesome and inspiring library from Spitfire. You can sit at your keyboard, chose one patch (or layer many sounds) and you well get instant inspiration. Especially I like the combinations of strings with bass clarinet. All patches are very playable, with a very expressive and beautiful quality. Excellent stuff

Very innovative programming, makes it relatively simple to sketch out cues. Also can be the source of instant inspiration. We all need some of that from time to time.

Extremely happy with my purchase of this library. It was exactly what I was a looking for in terms of creating a varying small orchestral ambience. Thanks Spitfire (as always!)

The BDT is very good for layering and background, but the promotion video mentions it can be used as a solo instrument as well, which it most definitely can't. The transition between the notes in the solo sounds artificial.

content in this library is fantastic. Everything is beautifully recorded and sounds spectacular! It’s quite honestly my go to library at the moment! Well done Spitfire, you’ve done it again! If I were to mention improvements, it would be great to have a patch or toggle switch, where it makes every sample play at the same volume regardless of velocity. Sometimes the higher velocity samples can be a bit too loud at times, especially when you are playing chords and layering things together. Thanks again Spitfire!

While I love the combinations - main and ensembles - it would nice to be able to balance the instruments with some form of velocity range control. I know that technically this could be achieved via plugins or within the DAW but that can be a bit of a fiddle. I also think that rather than develope a new toolkit future releases / upgrades could include some brass instruments.
