I'll be honest, I am a bit of a Spitfire fanboy. I have quite a few of their products including 3 Albions. I wanted to step into a full orchestral library with all the sections broken out. The Albions are great-sounding orchestras and are great for may things but I wanted more control and the ability to build parts at the player or section level. So, when I had the opportunity to purchase a new library I had to make a decision on which Spitfire library I would go for. Abbey Road and BBC are great options, but the sheer volume of articulations and the sound of the beautifully recorded samples in Lyndhurst Hall were a big motivator for getting SSO. But, the new performance patches were the final deal-maker for me. These patches make it easy to build parts without having to key-switch or program articulation changes. In my workflow, it is a great time-saving and fun way to create. And... if I need something a bit more specific than the performance patches can do, the abundance of additional articulations usually covers it. SSO is a win for sure.

Absolutely amazing!! Beautiful sound! Love it!
This badboy includes most of what I need orchestral-wise. I love the interface and the sound.
A great product. sounds wonderful. excellent!
The tone, the articulations, the number of different instruments, all add up to an amazing vst that i will use for years. Just wish the Sul C celli legato didn't have such long silent transitions. W the inclusion of the ensembles, harp, piano, and percussion the new 2024 version is hard to beat!
Beautiful sounds, intelligent layout, this VTS is wonderful. It has so much depth that I will be discovering for months to come. If you are looking for a complete orchestra, this is the real thing.
Really great, no complaints about quality at all. Takes a lot of processing power to run multiple tracks, but bouncing and freezing finished tracks mitigates this.
I bought the last released Spitfire symphony orchestra. The sounds are really successful. I chose this library, especially because I like to use it with Kontakt 7. The GUI looks so great. Violin 2 performance patch was wrong. I sent a video of the problem to the Spitfire and they immediately fixed it and sent it to me. Thank you very much. Also, Performance patches are very successful. I'm not in favor of buying a lot of libraries. As a guitarist, I'm happy to have made a point shot choice. I want to publish my work soon. I would definitely highly recommend it. You won't regret it :)
I am very, very new to DAWs but I am not a beginner to music. I do have other libraries but decided to get a pro version as I always feel I need more. I have seen lots of videos on this product so I am very excited to learn as much as I can and produce my own music. I am an ex-professional musician but now very much a hobby to me.
Great sounding patches, easy-to-use UI, and RAM and CPU friendly
Second best product they made last years. Spitfire ONE was great but SSO is a beast. I think anyone who compose or do some strings / orchestral arrangements shoul have that librarry combined with BBC package. Great product, multi techniques and brilliant sound.
This product is superb - a lot of work has gone into these articulations, especially the all-new legatos created by Andrew Blaney. Stunning performances and the reverberation at the AIR Lyndhurst Hall just makes the orchestra sings, it's magical - who needs more reverb? You don't need it. Well done to the team at Spitfire Audio!
No brainer and go to library for my classical orchestral scores.
If you use CC32 for your articulations beware! You have to add them all in manually!
Spitfire is like Unicorns sprinkled with Faerie Dust. Okay, maybe not THAT good. Even so, the Samples sound great. I have a lot of Sample Libraries. When I compose with Samples, I write the part & try my different libraries until one fits that particular situation. I don't believe "New is Better". I'll use an old Sample if it fits. Recently, I've been buying more Spitfire. Some other Samples have to be "Resuscitated" to make them sound acceptable. Spitfire is pretty good right out-of-the-box. Getting ready to buy the SF Solo Violin & Solo Cello. I'll mix them with Real Instruments to make it more believable. They'll sound great BUT... It'll be a long time before anybody beats the Sonic Quality my Real Guitar Tracks. :)
Very helpful ( and affordable ) version of a complete Orchestra. The performance patches are very well done and total fun to play. The sound is very good, which is my main aspect. Like the most here, I have tons of other plug ins, but this is the first I made a complete template with. The sound of Air Studios responds in a very musical way ; it triggers your imagination and with the performance patches you have a musical output very fast. Well done Andy and spitfire !
The software is staggeringly good. I would at this point say for £91 it is value for money, but it isn’t. The value of this pack should be the usual £500 and not a penny less. The software just oozes class and quality For £91 I expected so so much less than is included. If you’re on the fence and not sure if you should buy this software, please DO - you won’t regret it in any way. Even at £499 I would have been delighted to pay that for what you get.
The sign of a splendid orchestral tool for me, is woodwind vibrato (get this right, and all other things are bound to be well thought out and of high quality). This Orchestral offering does not disappoint and I’ve started squeezing more expression out of the instruments than I thought possible. If ever I was in a position to hire a full orchestra for my compositions, I would have every confidence that my score plus a demo using Spitfire Symphony Orchestra would convey all the nuances of my humble work.
As with all of Spitfires sample libraries this library is superb. The shear volume of samples and different articulations and overall sound quality - for this price - is astonishing. I cannot recommend Spitfire's products more highly. If you want a complete solution for orchestral composition and arranging, this library will not disappoint.
It sounds amazing and the price is just very well ranged ! Just hope NotePerformer will soon have a playback engine for it... and a dream will come true :)
