Did not pay after review work. They are big cheats. I will post 1 star every day if you don't pay me.
I'm writing the review I wish I found when I was researching retainers.
I placed my order on August 6th 2024, and received my final product September 3rd 2024. It took me 3 tries with the putty to get approved impressions. I ordered some extra putty and trays with my first order, and was sent two new sets of putty for free to retry my impressions. The customer service rep Jessica was super helpful and kind throughout the entire process, both over the phone and email.
The impressions process was tedious. I found that it worked better to have a second person present to act as a timer when mixing the putty and putting it into the tray. I also recommend having a mirror nearby to look at when you place the tray in. I watched the videos available on the website, refrigerated the putty when I got it to keep it from setting so fast, and marked where my teeth would go after sizing the tray. Even with all that, it took me three attempts to get a usable impression. If this is not something you want to risk, go with a non-DIY retainer. Human error makes it difficult to do on yourself, especially if you can't see into your mouth like a dentist would.
I've been using my new retainers (top and bottom Essix plus retainers), and they were a good fit. A bit tight initially, but I think that's how they're supposed to be to hold them in place. There appears to be a bit of excess material on the front of the bottom tray, but it doesn't cause any issues so I left it alone. I have been wearing them for almost a month now and have had no issues.
Overall, they're a good company if you're looking for a reasonable cost/decent value for the price. I broke my old retainers about 4 years ago. I noticed my teeth had shifted somewhat noticeably over the past summer, but because I could not afford orthodontics at the moment, I opted to go with this company on my friend's recommendation to prevent my teeth shifting further. I wasn't as concerned about a faster turn around, since my teeth have already been without retainers for a while, so it worked for me. If you're needing retainers immediately I recommend going with a dentist or orthodontist where they can fabricate the retainers in house.
TLDR; it is more tedious and takes longer than going to an orthodontist/dentist, but it is much cheaper. If you're good with spending less money to wait longer and do the impressions yourself, its a good option. Just keep in mind that you will likely have to redo the impressions (unless you order a lot of extra putty).
I have been ordering my retainers from sportingsmiles for a while. I keep losing them and it's awesome that they keep my impression on file and I can just reorder at any time.
Customer service is the absolute worst. They messed up my retainer twice and are making ME pay for the replacement tray. Unreal
Update: These are some of the most dishonest people I’ve ever dealt with.
It took months to get warranty coverage applied and it was only applied after I left negative feedback regarding their treatment of my issue.
They sent the wrong size retainer (children’s) and blamed me for user error.
After months of back and forth they finally sent the new kit but when I returned them they told me it was outside the 90 day warranty.
Criminally misleading, avoid at all costs
This is not the answer. You have to have a good impression. Most people have no idea how to take a correct impression. Don't waste your time. And using these private review companies means they have alot worse results than they show.
We paid for retainers. The kit arrived and we made impressions, took pictures and received verification that everything was okay as far as they could tell in the pictures. This happened several times and several impression kits. We finally gave up. They offered to send us another impression kit or refund our money minus $15 for the impression kits. We opted for the refund and it was processed promptly.
Final products are good but getting there takes quite some time. The whole process of getting the retainers took about 2 months due to issues with the first pair not fitting. Shipping and production of retainers should be faster.
Customer service was very helpful and gave constant updates.
The bleach trays arrived without scalloping, which led to gum irritation when used. I contacted the warranty department, but the response didn’t address the concern, and the company would not offer a return or replacement. The whitening product also foamed in the trays instead of functioning like a gel.
Overall, the product and support did not meet my expectations.
Wonderful and the delivery was great! Customer service was really kind, responsive and helpful too :)
This company only guarantees their product for 30 days no exceptions! So they are saying that their product is only good for 30 days. I have had my product for a little over than a year it started to flake off like wax. I wrote the company to ask them for assistance and their response was they only warranty their product for 30 days. For the cost of this product, 30 days is not worth it and you are chancing that the lifespan of the product will last long enough but as I've seen it must be cheaply made or else it would last a lot longer. The ones I've had from the dentist have lasted me over a decade and were about three times the cost but if you look at the lifespan of them, they well surpasses 3xs the amount of time of Sporting Smiles.
They have horrible customer service and they don't seem to care about you other than the 30 days.
Extremely slow service! I ordered my impression kit and was charged for my retainer on June 28. I did not receive my retainer until Aug 10. Six weeks?!!! They tried to blame it on the mail, but shipping only took 4 days. They were slow to respond to my impression photos and questions, and once they had everything they needed to make the retainers, it still took another 2 weeks for them to make the retainer. This lengthy process should be listed on their web site. If I had known it was going to take that long, I would have gone elsewhere. Also, they should not be charging me for the retainer until they send it out. I paid 6 weeks in advance --I was beginning to think this product was a scam. Will not use them again.

I have been a loyal customer for about 3 years and it has been great! The clear retainers have yet to fail me ! Would definitely recommend this to everyone !!
SportingSmiles has been my go to place for replacement retainers since 3+ years ago. Their service is always prompt and their price can't really be beat when you consider they also produce a quality product. I've since had my imprint on file with them and will continue to purchase from them for all my retainer needs.
Been using Sporting Smiles for my night guard for 6 years! They fit and are comfortable during sleep. But the most important part is their customer service! They are always helpful and I once ordered a night guard with a different material and it wasn't comfortable, they replaced it at the right material!
I have loved sporting smiles! This is my second time ordering from them. It’s so simple and their communication is great. Prices are also very reasonable.
I’ve ordered retainers from sporting smiles several times. Keeping my impressions on file for life was a great idea. Although they wear out (I grind my teeth) in about a year, they are much cheaper than what I would get from the dentist or via insurance and they work exactly the same. It’s very convenient to order online for me and I never have to take impressions for the retainers again. (Also the original experience of taking the impressions was quite easy).
The night guard I received from Sporting Smiles fit better than the expensive one I got from my dentist. I can't even wear that one because the dentist can't make it fit properly after multiple trips there. The one from Sporting Smiles fit correctly from the start. I really like that I can easily order a second guard (just did so) and easily replace the guard if I should lose it when traveling. Not going back to the dentist again--I will rely on Sporting Smiles for my night guards from now on!
Great products, customer service and reasonable prices! Their prices are 1/3 of what my orthodontist want to charge me. Haven’t had issues with the product so far so I am ordering more for spares.
Sporting smiles has high quality material and will keep your teeth straight.
I have now ordered my second set of top and bottom retainers and I have been thoroughly pleased with the quality and speed of service.
