Didn't realise that the policy did not…

Didn't realise that the policy did not pay out on death if the pet was over 8 years old.
Apart from being very upsetting to understand my nearly 16 year old dogs life was worth nothing, this fact was not clearly highlighted.

Calm and efficient

We've been with Spoton for a number of years with our cat, who, because she was getting on a bit, had to have injections for arthritis every month.

At all times when we've submitted a claim, it's been dealt with quickly and efficiently by Spoton.

Sadly, just recently, our cat took ill with a terminal problem, which involved a number of visits to the vet, and she was eventually put to sleep, so we had to submit several more claims. Once again, these were handled without fuss, and everything was fully explained.

We now no longer need a policy, but it was always reassuring to know we had cover. We would highly recommend Spoton to anyone looking for pet insurance.

Besides having a very good insurance…

Besides having a very good insurance price, when our dog Alfie died, Spot On were very good with communications and help with regard to the fees and their re-embursement. Don’t be put off by all communications being done by email, they were quick in their responses.

If only I could give Zero Stars

What a shower of crooks.
I have 2 out of my 3 dogs insured with Spot On, but not for much longer. I made my first ever claim the other week for £698 for an operation that had to be performed on one of my Labradors, the claim was rejected by Spot on as He has received ear drops in the past 4 years therefore using this as a pre existing condition. There is no solid proof that administration of ear drops for waxy ears caused the Aural Haematoma which developed in his right ear.
The Haematoma could have been caused by a bump, a sting or anything like that. I will be getting in touch and cancelling ALL my policies today.

AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS, nothing more than legalised robbery

Comprehensive Cover and Prompt Claims Payments

I have had an excellent experience with SpotOn pet insurance company and would highly recommend them to any pet owner.

The cover is comprehensive and provides great peace of mind, while the premiums are very reasonable for the level of protection offered. Most importantly, their claims process is straightforward, fast and efficient. Every claim I have submitted has been handled promptly, and the reimbursement has always been paid in a timely manner.

Thanks to their reliable support, I was able to afford the treatment my beloved cat needed without the added stress of worrying about the financial burden. During a difficult time, knowing that I could count on my insurer made a huge difference.

Very disappointing.

Reading these reviews I feel like I've dealt with an entirely different company.
We took our boy to the vet with the piece of mind that he was insured. We have never claimed before. How wrong we were.

In almost £1000 worth of fees we received just shy of £90 back from SpotOn. Due to their out dated allowances for blood tests which there were multiples of. We knew take home medication wasn't covered as I didn't add this to the policy. These equalled around £100. But we thought the tests would be covered.
Due to the results we made the difficult decision to put our boy to sleep. Which I told them. They continued to message even when we were in the vet appointment to put him to sleep.

Poorly worded messages and emails are horrific considering what we were going through. Dealing with this added to the levels of stress immensely. It really didn't need to.

I will never recommend. I have cancelled all other policies with the company. They are not the support they should have been and really didn't care about our situation.

Please don't use them.

Kind, compassionate and swift.

Our beautiful dog needed medical attention and our claim was settled quickly. Sadly he passed away several weeks later. Cancelling the policy was easy and swift. Compassionate service and understanding.

Wouldn't pay when cat seriously ill

Be careful when choosing this pet insurer. I came back from being away to find my cat barely moving and not eating/drinking. It was Saturday evening so my only choice was the emergency vet. Apparently Saturday evening is 'core' hours and so I shouldn't have required this expensive vet. On top of this, I hadn't added a medication 'add on' (I wasn't aware this was required) so the medications were excluded also. In the end they wiggled out of my entire claim.

For the out-of-hours claim, while our policies do include cover for life-threatening emergencies, they don’t extend to out-of-hours charges if your pet could have safely been seen during normal vet hours. That said, we do still cover the standard consultation equivalent cost and any eligible veterinary treatment in those situations.

Our Boosters were designed to give our customers a more bespoke policy, tailored to their pet's individual needs and are clearly outlined in the quote journey and your policy documents.

All of our Boosters can be added or removed at any time throughout your policy period as your situation changes, you don’t have to wait until renewal to make any changes.
