Wonderful experience thanks to srprs.me!

I had a great holiday experience thanks to Srprs.me! I have to confess that I was a little bit upset when I discovered my holiday destination at the airport. It was quite a departure (no pun intended) from my usual destinations, however I ended up appreciating the break even more because it was so different. There was a bit of a mix up regarding my accommodation, but the person manning the emergency line couldn't be more helpful, and even called up after the issue was resolved to make sure everything was okay. Honestly communication was great through the entire experience, and I always felt like I was well informed. I loved the brand (one of the main reasons I booked!) although I have to say I think the new srprs.me branding removes from the uniqueness it once had. Feels a little too corporate now. Maybe it will grow on me in time, and it's not something I feel deserves a reduction in overall rating.

Great work guys. I'll be sure to book again soon!

Bad holiday - not srprs.me's fault but they could have dealt with it a lot better

My holiday didn't work out well at all, unfortunately. I don't think this was srprs.me's fault, but I wish they'd dealt with it better afterwards.

My flight was terrible. They booked me with RyanAir and there were verbally abusive passengers on my flight, and unprofessional staff enabling them by giving them more and more alcohol. The hotel was well-rated (8/10 on Booking.com) and the area was okay (but only okay), but unfortunately the real problems started there...

I asked the hotel if the taxis outside were safe (it's a city known for dodgy taxis). The hotel said the "official hotel taxi" was free, so I took that. It did not run a meter, or give me a receipt (both of which are apparently legal requirements in that city), and charged me ~3 x the cost the journey should have been. After this experience I felt unsafe dealing with the hotel. The rooms were of an extremely poor standard, the beds were very narrow, and - the worst bit - the rooms were INSANELY hot (around 30 degrees). it was impossible to sleep because of the heat, so I lay awake until 5-6 am. At that point, my 1 full day in the city was effectively ruined because I was exhausted - so I decided to fly home.

Srprs.me were sympathetic on the surface, and said they spoke to the hotel, but did not refund me any money for the holiday. They also did not speak to the airline about the issues there.

I am out the cost of the holiday (£260) and the flight home (£150). I'm disappointed that srprs.me did not refund me any money at all, whether it be from the hotel, the flight, or their own profits from my bad experience.

They were also somewhat accusatory in some of the things they said (saying the hotel advertises the taxi rates - these were never mentioned to them).

They sent me a chocolate bar in the mail saying they were sorry I had a bad holiday, which was a thoughtful PR gesture I guess.

I don't think the issues with the holiday were their fault but I really think they could have dealt with it better. They mentioned to me they'd booked with that hotel >100 times - surely with that kind of relationship they could at least get a partial refund given the hotel's scammy behaviour.

We are extremely sorry from the bottom of our hearts that you did not have a good time or experience during your srprs.trip. This is never our intention but we do feel in this case we have done all we can.

Regarding your flight, we agree that it's not nice having to sit next to unruly, disruptive passengers. Holidays can bring out some excitement in people and clearly some take this excitement too far to the dismay of others aboard. We firmly recommend you to reach out to Ryanair to relay your feedback about the way their staff addressed and handled the issues. As we were not passengers on the flight we are unfortunately not in a position to do this for you; the feedback would be far more useful and accurate coming directly from yourself. If you would like some help to get in touch with Ryanair please let us know - we would be happy to offer assistance where we can.

It's true that we've sent over 150 of our travellers to the hotel that you stayed at. Our traveller's have rated the hotel as an average of 8.9/10 - we will continue to monitor incoming review scores and will remove accommodations from our list if they fall below the standard we'd expect.

We reached out to the hotel regarding the issues you faced as soon as we were aware of them, the hotel were extremely sympathetic. We asked whether a one-night (or more) refund would be possible due to the problems you faced but this request was denied. The reason behind the hotel's decision was that the issues were not brought to their attention until after you had checked-out. They informed us that when they were told about said issues as you were leaving they offered a fan to be placed in the room for you & to have someone take a lot at the air conditioning unit to try and fix it but as you'd already purchased your flight home you decided to just check-out instead. They weren't aware you'd had a bad experience in the taxi but did inform us that the rates are fixed and displayed inside the hotel and a receipt can also be provided by the taxi driver (it is however standard practice that receipts are only provided upon request). They would have been happy to check to see whether you were overcharged for the taxi journey, and if so take steps to correct this, should it have been brought to them during your stay. We apologise if we came across as accusatory as this was never our intention.

As for ourselves, we want and will do everything we can for our travellers to ensure happy, smiling faces all around! In this case we unfortunately weren't informed of any issues until you were already on your way home and therefore we were not given an opportunity to address the issues on site which is part of our terms and conditions. We understand that you felt uncomfortable discussing your complaint with the hotel but you could have reached out to us instead. We have an 'emergency' line which is reachable 24/7 and if we had been made aware of the problems we could have taken multiple steps to improve the experience you were having such as: speaking with the hotel on your behalf, changing your room at the hotel or even booking a brand new accommodation for you.

You going home early and missing your holiday is the very last thing that we wanted but unfortunately we were given no opportunity to help you. I hope you can understand and appreciate that had we been made aware of your feelings during your trip we would have went above and beyond to turn the whole experience around.

We are really glad you received our special chocolate bar through the post by our Customer Service Team and we hope this put a little smile on your face (and that you enjoyed it of course!). We are however sorry for the negative feelings you're holding at the moment. We wish we could do more for you at this stage but again as we were not informed at the time, the steps that we could take to resolve this became severely limited. Although we tried our best to obtain some form of refund for you for the reasons highlighted above this was not possible.

We are however available to contact should you want to discuss this further or need some help providing feedback to the airline. We will help and support you in anyway we can with this.

Excellent experience

Excellent experience, everything was perfectly organised and thorough. I was a little sceptical purely due to the premise of the product, but everything went smoothly. I misplaced something needed (but found it shortly after) and called the 'emergency' number. They called me back immediately and were very helpful.
I would definitely recommend this company.

Fantastic experience!

Great trip, my destination wasn't somewhere I'd have thought to go myself, but it was perfect for me, it's like the srprs.team knew me really well!
Accommodation wasn't the best, it was too hot and no fan in the room, but that's not something the srprs.team can control, it was in a great central location, and it was easy to navigate to from the airport.
I'll definitely be doing more srprs.trips in the future!

Amazing must do experience

Blown away from start to finish. Our destination was incredible and somewhere I'd never have thought to travel to.

Amazing experience!

Amazing experience, customer service was great, hotel was great and despite nerves the surprise element is really good fun. Especially if you stick to it and really wait until the airport. I bought it as a birthday present for my boyfriend and would highly recommend!

Absolutely fantastic way to have a holiday. There is always an excitement before the holiday, but teamed with not knowing the destination makes it even more exciting. You get to know airport details and the temperature about a week before you leave, so you know what to pack. The hotel we stayed at was lovely, very clean and the best breakfast selection we’ve ever experienced. Also the destination was brilliant. Have recommended srprs.me to all my friends and family 5 stars

A run for your money

Quite a decent destination and hotel stay for the money I paid! The destination was really unexpected but a good kind of surprise though. Suited for those adventurous and spontaneous backpackers/tourists.
