We was all due to go on holiday in 2 cars on the 22nd on the evening of the 21st one driver wasn’t well enough to drive I really didn’t expect to be about to find a solution to our problems but I said how about hire a minibus
So night of the 21st we contacted ssh fill out forms and lucky us they had a 9 seater available it was in Telford and we wanted to collect from Stafford so they had it moved to us
They was absolutely amazing best service we have had won’t use anyone else now
The mini bus was amazing comfortable easy to drive easy to move seats and plenty of boot space.
SSH get a 10/10 from us thank you so much

I had a very frustrating experience with SSH Drive and would strongly advise others to think twice before using their service.

I had arranged for the vehicle to be collected in the morning, so I made sure everything was ready. However, the driver didn’t show up until around 2pm — hours later than agreed. At that point, I had briefly stepped out, but the car was still on my property in the garage.

What’s even more disappointing is that the driver only waited for four minutes before leaving a note claiming I wasn’t home, without making any real effort to contact me or check properly. There was no phone call, no reasonable waiting time, and no flexibility despite their own delay.

To make matters worse, I was then charged £100 for an extra day, even though the failed collection was clearly due to their late arrival and lack of proper communication. They also blaimed hertz falsely saying they cant do anything and I should speak to hertz

This feels extremely unfair and unprofessional. A company that arrives hours late should at least make a genuine effort to complete the collection before penalising the customer. Very disappointing experience.

24 hours before a big family road trip, my own (non-rental) car started leaking oil and I thought the holiday would have to be cancelled. The low prices at SSH Stafford and their organised efficiency made it doable though. The online booking was easy, the customer care was prompt, clear and helpful re what to bring and the Peugeot 3008 we borrowed was a lovely car, next to brand new.
The staff were friendly and the costs were clear. I bought a third party excess waiver ahead of rental and this worked well for us. Returning the car was just as quick and straightforward and I highly recommend SSH Stafford. Will definitely use again - though hopefully not in a last-minute panic with a boot-full of suitcases next time :)

Had an awful experience where a rock was hit the van windscreen either as flying debris or from a footbridge, we are unsure as it happened in a split second! However, what we sure about it that was no fault of our own. Returned the van and was charged £555. However, they wouldn't let me swap the day of the rental or refund me for the van hire. Was offered a £10 discount for another day, but given the circumstances I felt like this was a poor response.

Fab experience! Needed a van with a couple of days notice to move some furniture and from the first phone call with Matt they were brilliant. Gave me the dimensions so I could work out if the cheaper option would fit and it did…reserved same day with the guys in the office. Really nice and friendly staff and super helpful with also the best price I could find for the hire! Would 100% recommend to anyone plus will definitely be back when I next need to hire 👍🏻 thanks guys

BEWARE DO NOT USE......I wish I could give a minus star rating for really bad service, rip of repair costs, van was rented after we had it but we were charged for damages, promised calls that dont happen, unhelpful staff. Definitely will not use again.

This company have a reputation for rinsing customers over damage costs whether they are yours or not....AVOID AVOID AVOID

They are ok until anything goes wrong. Then they are awful and just rinse you for as much money as they can.
Its just not right - be careful as anyone can have a no-fault accident or get damage to a car that's not your fault. Then it WILL cost you. Beware

I was considering a review anyway.
I have spent a lot of money with you for two years without a single problem until this one. Then I was forced to pay a ridiculous amount on top of the hire cost.
Yes, the refusal to hire was the last straw after being a loyal and model customer for 2 years until these problems. Unfair and unnecessary. So every right to state my case and be unhappy. There would never have been this review otherwise. It's as a result of your own actions and outrageous charges.

Overall this is quite a good company the van we hired was ok for our purposes, however when we spoke to the company about the military discount code the owner of the company was quite abrupt, so maybe he needs to work on his customer servicer skills. Other members of staff we dealt with were more than helpful.
