STA School of Traditional Astrology Reviews 

Since I finished reading Deborah Houlding's The Houses: Temples of the Sky, I have been wondering why she hasn't published any book after one of must-haves of today's astrologers. Well, she pours much of her energy into STA to teach Horary Astrology, and I am very fortunate to be an STA graduate.

There are many online courses and schools in any field of interest. I have taken many many courses, both in and out of astrology study, and STA Horary Practitioner online course is the best among all courses I have ever taken so far for a few reasons.

First of all, the course is very well structured with surprisingly versatile materials for individual study need. I won't explain its structure here because STA provides thorough information before and after course registration. My questions at the time of registration (and during the course) received prompt, clear answers.

Course experience was welcoming, enjoyable and inspiring. This course is an advanced astrology study and, yes, it is challenging. However, study material is organized in a very clear manner and presented in manageable way. Although this course is a cohort, I received useful feedback with personal attention at each essential point in study, which helped me to stay on track.

Finally, the result from successful completion of this course provides both intimate knowledge in the subject and confidence in practicing. I have not really thought about practicing astrology professionally before STA. Astrology is very interesting and amazing, but I wasn't convinced enough with its usefulness and trustworthiness. While many of my peers from previous astrology classes became excited and enthusiastic about astrology, I couldn't see merit beyond personal satisfaction in understanding life's wonderment. STA, however, changed my view of what it means to practice astrology. Natal reading is wonderful, but I believe we need more than that in this post-Earth era. Traditional horary astrology is a language we all need in coming age because it allows us to communicate beyond time and space, in and out.

Again, this excellent course is for advanced students of astrology. If you are lucky enough to be prepared, jump in. STA offers this amazing opportunity with very modest investment in my opinion. The quality of instructors are excellent—none of them teaches you their idea; they teach you (traditional) astrology and how to practice it. A pure magic.

I was recently lucky enough to take part in and complete the Practitioners Level Horary course prepared and taught by Deborah Houlding and her team at the School of Traditional Astrology. I'm not understating things by saying that this course has changed my life. In 20 weeks you cover a lot of material which includes online lectures, practise interpretation sessions. Each week is supported by lots of supporting reading material which explains everything in-depth. I love the fact that Deborah and her team provide references to traditional astrological texts which explain why they teach what they do.

After taking the course I feel much more confident in my chart interpretations and I now have a better understanding of why traditional astrologers approach things in a different way from modern contemporary astrologers. And now that I understand who the sources are - I'm researching these on my own.

If you are considering learning traditional astrology or want to understand Horary Astrology, this is a course that you must take. 10/10 from me. Comprehensive. Clear. Illuminating. If you have any doubts, your questions are answered by the tutors - comprehensively; this is all done through an on-line forum - which means you get the benefit of reading questions from other students as well.

I loved this course so much, I signed up for the Medical Astrology course. Best value for money. A++ from me.

I was very reluctant in taking this course.
The term traditional scared me a bit.
But when I saw the well structured curriculum, I felt home. I loved the organization of this school. Tutors are there available for you answering all your questions.
Course is intense and they provide a lot of materials. Loved that. Deb was correct: When you finish this course, you will know a lot. A small portion of astrologers do !!! And she was absolutely right.
For me, this course was beyond rich. I already signed up for Medical Astrology and waiting for more good news coming soon.

If you are looking for instruction in traditional astrological techniques and theory, look no further. Deborah Houlding and the team of incredible tutors have put together an amazing course on Horary astrology (I can't speak to the other courses available) that, in 20 weeks, will put you in a position to be able to practice horary with confidence. I can't imagine that this isn't the absolute best value for money available anywhere, from a very distinguished and accomplished set of instructors. You will not be disappointed!

A professional astrologer I know described the STA Horary Course as life-changing. I agree, because it changed my life on a number of levels. It is more than just a 'course', it opens up your mind and your heart.

After practicing 20th century astrology for many years, I came to traditional astrology about five years ago and found the transition from modern to traditional confusing. I kept trying to approach natal readings in psychological terms, despite my best efforts not to.

The approach to interpretation is different in traditional astrology, and I was having trouble getting my head around it

In hindsight, I could have saved myself a lot of trouble if I had studied traditional horary before attempting natal. It wasn’t until I had studied horary that I finally understood how important essential dignities are and how to use them, as well as how a chart is approached traditionally, be it horary, natal or electional.

I can’t imagine a better place to start the study of traditional astrology than by taking the STA horary course. The instructors are highly qualified and experienced, as well as being articulate and excellent communicators, presenting complex ideas and making them comprehensible.

The course is presented in the form of weekly live lectures with plenty of time for interaction and questions and answers from the students. The lectures are supported by a colorful and beautifully laid-out textbook containing all the technical information, supplemented by a workbook where the students do practical work and exercises. This is a course of quality.

Taking the STA horary course has deepened my knowledge of horary and made me more secure as a practitioner. After taking this course, you will be able to cast and interpret your own horary charts, as well as those of your friends, and if you decide to do this professionally, for your clients!

This felt like a college level course. And I’ve taken a lot of college courses.

You get so much more than basics yet the basics are really solid. And you can apply them to any astrology course.

I’ve been around astrology for a while but this was my first real course and I’m glad it was classical astrology.

Most people want to learn the newest methods but I find knowing an old original method well is better and sets you up for learning off shoots later if you choose.

But don’t skip the classics.

2 hours a week of lecture and they say 2 hours of homework but in reality I think you need 6 hours a week. At least I did.

I think you have to listen to the lecture again at least once and the reading can take a while.

The best part is the homework. There are plenty of charts to solve. And honestly, I needed to to them more than once.

The course is written very well in a logical order that builds from one week to the next.

And they are really there to answer your questions. You can’t get that in a one weekend Intensive course.

This is something that needs to be digested slowly.

Now that the course is over I’m starting to review at the beginning.

For me, I think reviewing this course several times and knowing it well will get me farther than taking a bunch of different lectures and getting each a little bit.

The basics are so solid that when I do feel ready to learn something else I think it will be much easier.

I came in knowing basics.

If you are starting at a higher level than I did maybe you would need less time.

If you take the course, make sure to keep up every week, you will really get more out of it.

listen to the live classes, being able to ask questions is really needed.

The STA Horary Course was the best experience in astrology that I've had! Its a complete and very deep course that changes the way you see astrology! Highly recommended for anyone who takes astrology seriously!

It's actually hard to imagine how this course could possibly be improved, but I know Deb and the tutors at STA are always hard at work doing just that. I could go on and on, but for anyone researching courses to take, here are the essential bullet points about the STA Horary Practitioner's course:

* Depth of material -- the tutors are the top experts in the field, having collective decades of practical experience, and true research bonafides. This applies to not only the rigor and efficacy of the techniques taught, but the deeper understanding, practical guidance, and philosophy communicated alongside them.

* Care of presentation -- it's one thing to have a lot to share, but it's another thing to take the time and care to figure out how to actually share it effectively. The materials have clearly been conceived, revised, and reassembled with loving, painstaking, and expert care over the course of years, if not decades.

* Openness and availability of the tutors -- the tutors --not to mention the students!-- were incredibly accessible and engaged throughout the course. They seem to want nothing so much as for each student to learn as much as they possibly can. Everyone is incredibly generous.

The highly accredited tutors are excited to share their knowledge and are really involved with us as we work out our own horaries on the forum. It's really nice to engage with other students from all over the world and to develop our understanding together. If you're the type of person who learns through hands on experience, this is a fantastic course for you!

Without a doubt, the best value in astrological instruction. I have never experienced such a fully developed, engaging astrology course with such involved instructors. I would recommend anyone with any inclination towards taking a course to enroll in an STA offering.

The STA Horary Practitioner course was a wonderful learning experience. The combination of detailed notes, workbooks, live lectures and forum, with the wealth of experience of the tutors made this course the best I have ever taken in any subject. The impression I have from this Horary Practitioners course and from the school in general is excellent. A rigorous and extremely worthwhile course

This course is the very best I have ever joined, it is very well organised and the teaching is high level, everything has just been working perfect. I am planing to join the next level of horary, The Master course, but first I need to use all the tools I have got from this course:) I can realy recommend this School, all the tutors take you through by their hands:)

Right from the beginning, this well planned and presented course was a winner for me. It has been the best online learning course that I have ever engaged in. Complex theory was delivered in a professional and friendly way, with the tutors always ready to answer questions and expand on topics when a greater understanding was required. A combination of live lectures, detailed notes, curated resources and a lively forum ensured that the students had a fantastic opportunity to make the most of the extensive knowledge offered by the four outstanding tutors and also to share their wealth of astrological experience with each other.

When I signed for this course I thought I was just going in for another set of studies and to say the whole truth a bit reluctantly too (This course is an obligatory prerequisite for the Medical Astrology program offered by the same school and that is why I signed in). And yet it was so much more.
I not only found very high standard lectures with exquisite diagrams, fully detailed notes and on-site teaching platform with all bells and whistles but genuinely dedicated and extremely competent tutors.
But not only that... I started the course just before all the mayhem of Covid-19 exploded with annexed very strict quarantine in Italy...and the teachers and fellow students were what kept me sane in what has been an otherwise an insane period of my life.
I thought I signed in for a horary course...but I found a supporting family to whom I will be forever grateful.
If you are looking to learn traditional horary truly and competently, well then do not look any further, just sign in. But please do it as soon as you decide because the course runs out of places quicker than hot cakes.
