My mum passsed away in April 24 & unknowingly to my step brother & I appointed Star Legal in Bradley Stoke Bristol as executors after approaching them to rewrite her will? What a costly mistake this was? A simple will wrote by a third party, that eventually cost in excess of £20,000 including £2,000 for a comprehensive invoice that was intially promised. NEVER use this solicitor for will writing or as an executor. When they want anything it or if you require information it costs???? Poor communication, unsympathetic. My poor mum would turn in her grave if she realised what a mistake she made, shame on you.

I used Star Legal Bromsgrove to handle the sale of a property. They were incredibly slow, to a degree which I felt contributed to two sales falling through (although there were additional factors). It took a month to identify us as clients. It seemed I needed to push for every action and response. I think the whole experience can be summed up by the fact the standard automatic response from the individual dealing with my matter was not to even chase for a reply until 3 working days had passed. I have since dealt with another firm which managed to ID us within a couple of days and which I have not had to chase at all. I wish I had avoided the costly and frustrating experience with Star Legal.

It has recently been my misfortune to have the services of Star Legal Bristol. They dealt with a legacy left to me and several people in a trust. I used this company as they were recommended by another solicitor, that was my first mistake and also not reading their reviews. After the money was paid into their account they dragged it out for over 18 months. At the beginning they sent out everybody the wrong paperwork and also after repeatedly stating they do not share people’s bank details I was sent someone’s bank details showing how much money was in their account. I finally got the money I was left but Star Legal had taken all the pleasure out of the gift by dragging it out so long. I would never use them again.

I enquired about using this company for something a little unusual but perfectly legal. It took three calls for someone to fully understand what we wanted and they wanted to charge us double what it should cost. They were slow, difficult to contact and remarkably unhelpful. We are unfortunately still having to communicate with them over something that they didn’t complete fully and it hasn’t got any easier.

Took more than 6 months to purchase the property. Poor communication, excuses and over priced for bad service. Would not recommend to anyone.

If you want them to take over 6 months to do a house purchase use them, if not avoid.

We recently used the Wokingham branch of Star Legal for a purchase and sale and were very impressed. Our estate agent recommended them and initially I wanted to use my normal solicitors but after a call with Charles Gile there I was impressed and decided to move ahead. Throughout the process they were always available on email or the phone which is a rare thing these days. All the team were great, Kerry, Angila and for the week of completion a locum was there, Adesola who was a delight. I'd highly recommend them to others especially the Wokingham branch. Thanks again

I can't say how other branches are, but my experience with Star Legal Tiverton and Richard Agnew Vos and his team was excellent. They provided a very personal, personable, and knowledgeable service throughout the purchase of our house in Devon. Having never lived in the country before there were many aspects we couldn't have foreseen about the purchase (septic tanks/private water etc) which I felt they brought to our attention and dealt with effectively, without making us feel like outsiders. They also fought our corner over land registry issues and kept us up-to-date throughout the process. I would highly recommend them.

The partner I dealt with is exceedingly poor in communicating & does not bother to reply to voicemails & emails. Quite pathetic.. He appointed an associate (consultant - outsourced?) to deal with my issue against a cowboy motor repairer (and scam artist) when they should have known from the outset that this was a non-starter because the scammer had dissolved the company he used. I ended up paying this law firm c. £3,000 for zippo. I now understand why there is such a host of lawyer jokes!

Spoke with Benazir at Star Legal Aldridge regarding a matter they had dealt with on behalf of myself in 2021. A problem had arisen not of their doing, they contacted the company in question and got it resolved quickly, very happy with the service I was given and would recommend them to anybody.

Just like all the other reviewers. Don’t bother to use them, there are plenty of other competent solicitors out there.

Utter incompetence from the word go. Lorna Ganley appeared to lack the most basic of knowledge and even received advice from the sellers Solicitor on what information she did or didn’t need. Rebecca Conran can’t tell the difference between a personal and a business bank account, resulting in her accusing me of acting fraudulently with the process of purchasing my property. They drew down the funds to complete without performing anti money laundering checks which I’m guessing isn’t legal. And to add insult to injury, 7 months after completion, I find out the land registry application was cancelled as they had not responded to 4 requests for information over 4 months. Just an awful firm

I know that solicitors are slow, but this company takes it to a whole new level. Some years ago an elderly relative got talked into letting this company be an executor to his will. When he died this company did not let any family know what was happening. They sold his house, and eventually told us that everything in the house had been rubbish and had been thrown away. Since when has antique furniture been rubbish. The company would not respond to any communication from family, we only got this company to tell us anything was by getting another solicitor to write to them. Now after years of trying to get somewhere we have learned that Star Legal has been trying to contacting beneficiaries, eventually we learn that they have found relatives in America. This is strange as an Aunt has been working on a family tree for 20 years and had not found any relatives in America, so she asked if they could give her the details, but guess what, they will not reply.
BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY

We feel very let down by this company Aldridge office, we took our case to them 2 years ago, and all we wanted was the company we were unhappy with to be told that we were now taking legal advice, this was never done, at one point we were going to give up but was advised by the solicitor to carry on, this has been the worse 2 years of our lives after losing our mother, and we feel that we were never heard by this firm, we were advised to pay large amount of money for a medical experts advice, which was then criticised by a barrister, and should we have gone to court would have been worthless, we are now advised 2 years down the line to drop our case, becasue the value of the claim is not high enough, just not good enough after 2 years of emotional turmoil, yes you have to make money but you also have to be human and have some feeling for the people you are dealing with

While I appreciate the current circumstances are making things difficult!

My wifes mother died recently and the Bristol branch has done nothing but put up barriers into getting her Will and codicil from the Bristol office, They must have access to the Will as they realised that my Wife has changed her name since the will was made and are asking for a copy of our marriage certificate, they are also only willing to post the documents 1st class and putting any blame should they go missing on my wife, we can get to a post office to use registered post so why cant they?

Other offices have people going in to do basics such as check the post and check the documents are in the vaults!

I would not use this company unless they really have a change of heart/attitude towards there customers.

Lack of communication. They don't value your custom. Had to get in touch with HO on more than one occassion to instruct my solicitor to confirm what was happening with my home purchase. The senior solicitor at the office I was dealing with never returned any of my emails when I was trying to get a resolution to my query.
