Lack of communication
Lack of communication. They don't value your custom. Had to get in touch with HO on more than one occassion to instruct my solicitor to confirm what was happening with my home purchase. The senior solicitor at the office I was dealing with never returned any of my emails when I was trying to get a resolution to my query.
Not Very Professional
Bradly Stoke Office:
Having instructed this Co to carry out a house purchase, I called into their office with the necessary paperwork, and found myself spoken to like i was on my first day at nursery, was expected to discuss finances etc in a public area, despite a notice saying all the staff could assist me with my inquires this was clearly not the case.
When when paying a large sum of cash i was asked if i wanted a receipt - why would i want one when i have nothing to show for the cash i have just handed over with nothing to show for it - what a stupid question! Of course i want a receipt!
The one time i spoke with the conveyancer again in a public area, i felt i was being rushed and could be overheard by all and sundry, not very professional.
Appalling
Appalling, I called last Friday to the Clifton office with a simple yes or no question, I was told by a female that a Solicitor would call me back.
One week later no phone call so I called back asked the same question and was told know body in that office could deal with the query but somebody in the Swindon branch ' Might ' choose to take on the case. So logically I asked why was I told a week ago somebody there could answer the question and why had I been kept waiting a week to which I got silence.
I eventually spoke to an unbelievably rude Solicitor who said know body in that Office could answer the question.
Now if you've read this much your likely thinking my question was complex, I cannot stress how simple my question was, literally a yes or no answer with regards an employment tribunal.
So i've now wasted a week due to the Clifton office's pure incompetence and inability to answer a very simple question, pathetic.
Passive and Lacking Expertise
My parents (both about 90 years old) instructed Star Legal on their sale and purchase of retirement properties. They had previously instructed the same office on a previous sale and purchase and on their wills, and been very satisfied. It was not so on this occasion, when Star Legal's performance was marked by passivity and a lack of expertise, leading to delay and anxiety (but, fortunately, no financial detriment). I wouldn't recommend them for work of this type.

I have used Star Legal on a number of occasions and have to say I am surprised at the previous reviews. The service and advice I received was very good indeed and I would highly recommend them.
Avoid at all costs
Avoid at all costs
We received shocking service from this company and we eventually had to refer them to the Legal Ombudsman who upheld our complaint against Star Legal
Rude and unprofessional
Terrible experience spoke to a lady in order to get a quote over the phone and she was absolutely rude.
I was looking to get a joint borrower sole proprietor mortgage and she advised this is a service her firm offer. Baring in mind not many solicitors offer to take on such mortgages, I was happy to have finally found one and was willing to travel to their branch.
She advised she would not be willing to help as the property I was looking to buy was too far and stated she would charge a ridiculously high price without even giving me a chance to speak.
I advised I was willing to travel as there were no local firms near to me that could help.
She was unwilling to provide a quote and profusely kept refusing to help.
I have since found a firm based further away who are willing to help regardless of the fact I dont live within the local area.
I would not recommend this firm to any one as they were very unprofessional and rude.
Avoid Star Legal
This is the second attempt to purchase the property through Star Legal. On the first attempt I felt I was put in a position to withdraw my offer because of the abysmal work done by Star Legal. Due to long reply times, emails being sent to incorrect email addresses, an avoidance of responsibility and a staggering lack of progress that I can only think shows the complete lack of competency or interest to sell the property, I had a completely lost faith that the transaction would compete, or that the seller wanted the transaction to complete. I simply could not comprehend how a seller could possibly be satisfied with the level of service Star Legal offered.
I am now attempting to buy the property for a second time. I requested that the seller did not use your company again. I have nothing good to say about the work done by Star Legal and would actively recommend others to be very wary about buying a house that Star Legal is conveyancing. Again, I am having nothing but delayed communication, a lack of action and a denial that emails have been received.
Avoid.
