So far my experiences with Starling have been very good - the app is excellent, and so is the customer service. The savings account rates aren't very competitive, though (Virgin money offer nearly 2% higher rate on a cash ISA) but as a day-to-day bank they're hard to beat. Great to have a world debit card that has no fees!

I use Starling both for personal and business banking - and think they are great. easy to use and straighforward. I'd like them to add savings accounts on the joint and business acccounts but otherwise very happy.

I have been with Starling bank for over 10yrs now and things just get better!! Not only for the excellent customer service but also going that extra mile for even the smallest problem!! I have a few High Street banks, but the service, helpful and reliable trust that Starling provides is way ahead of all the rest!! Checking your account details couldn’t be easier, even on a daily or hourly basis is just so easy and convenient!! Only 2, days ago !!
I had a problem and was able to be connected to a very excellent, competent company representative by the name of EMILLY put all my problems away !! It was actually a pleasure working with her help!!! She swept all my issues aside and provided me with some invaluable advice!! SO A HUGE amount APPRECIATION for all your kind help!!

I travelled to Zambia to attend my brother in law’s funeral. While there my wife was admitted to hospital in Lusaka due to an emergency DVT in her leg. The hospital required initial payment in Zambian Kwacha and the hospital card reader did not recognise my Starling debit card. My sister in law, a Zambian resident, paid it for us to allow my wife into hospital. The next day I tried to use my Starling account to repay her into her UK Wise account. The payment was declined. I called them and I was grilled on the phone by a lady called Caitlin. She asked all the right questions to identify me. I told her my harrowing story (here for a funeral, wife emergency admitted to hospital) trying to JUSTIFY sending MY OWN money to my sister in law to repay a medical emergency. She listened coldly to everything I had to say then declined my transfer and blocked my account from sending any funds out. I was forced to send her whatsapp screenshots between my sister in law and myself. They finally allowed the transfer to go through. But as a final kick in the teeth, as they sent my funds they sent me another longwinded ‘watch out for scammers in future’ message. Infuriating after having tortuously proven I was genuine. To have to undergo this treatment at such an emotional low moment was distressing to say the least. Not at all impressed by Caitln’s judgement or the bank’s handling of this. Beware of trying to transfer funds with them from ‘darkest Africa’. They are perhaps not quite the global bank they profess to be. Never had any problems using them in UK or Europe but this treatment was inhumane and appalling.

My application with Starling was rejected and they refused to give me any reason for that rejection. I find that arrogant because the reason they chose for rejecting me may be wrong. They don't give me the chance to refute that reason for the rejection, or maybe they've got the information wrong. I find them very arrogant and not willing to engage properly with their customers. I have been accepted by two other banks so there is no reason why my application should have been rejected, given the same information that I gave these two banks. It's your arrogance and I would steer clear of this bank because it doesn't understand customer service.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Tried to contact the company about an issue whilst trying to setup an account about issues with the app and they wouldn't even advise me. I was told id have to set up a account to contact them. When I couldn't even contact them. Do not use.

Changed my business banking to Starling a few years ago and for the most part it’s been excellent. My old bank was HSBC which by comparison was old fashioned and awful to use. The only issue I have had is when there was a change of director but not phone number which seemed to blow their minds and create unnecessary problems for something very simple and recently I upgraded my phone, all other banks/cards were no issue at all, Starling made a complete dogs dinner of it.
Pros
• How banking should be in the 21st century
• can always speak to someone quickly
• secure
• app is excellent, easily the most simple and intuitive banking app I use
Cons
• can be very rigid to any minor changes to the account

Starling Bank closed my account for their own reasons and I am raising various complaints with the FCA and FO about that but of more immediate concern is that Starling Bank promised my funds would be returned to me by Friday 1st May - this has not happened and they is no information forthcoming from the bank.
Customer Support is very restricted in what they can actually do - mainly conversations with them result in something being escalated and then nothing being heard.
Not behaviour one would expect from a bank with the motto Good With Money. It seems they have grown too fast and have lost sight of the customer. I would avoid!
See response below from Starling Bank...they dont even really respond to the issue. They just refer you to the terms and conditions whereas what I would like to know is where my money is!! The problem is automated responses I am afraid and no real understanding of the customer.
