Service fees are pricing directly booked holidays out of the market, this is a brilliant way to avoid them.
I haven't found it working on all the listings I have been browsing but I only want to speak to the owners with whom I can converse directly and book directly. Who wants to pay a service fee for little more than an introduction?! A lot of these owners are paying to list anyway if they are subscribers. I suppose some aren't as they are on commission but now their rents have gone up into the stratosphere so the ethical dilemma is not too hard to overcome. I just hate the wall that so many sites are putting up between owners and guests. Bring back the old listing sites please!
A simple but very effective tool that enables the actual owners details to be viewed whilst you browse possible holiday homes. Takes only a few seconds to install & does what it says on the tin, leaving you free to make your own informed & independent choices.
For holidaymakers that have neither need nor want expensive & unnecessary added fees, dubious 'guarantees' or pressure sales tactics it's a little gem. Take your time, contact & discuss with real people - directly, & review all your options before making important holiday decisions. That way it is your choice, not one heavily influenced by distorted search displays.
For owners (including myself) it allows the opportunity to market & operate their holiday homes properly & personally, interact with our potential guests, advise & reassure where necessary.
Either way, if the current faceless mega-corporations don't float your boat, this is well worth a trial.
Oh my! This is brilliant. I simply added the plugin to my Google Chrome browser and instantly I can now see the owners contact information again like we always had before Exgreedia bought out Homeaway/VRBO. Whatever phone number the owners used to have posted has now magically reappeared, some of the listings I found actually showed the owners website that they take direct bookings on - even better! We had been doing Google searches of the area and unique house name to try and find owners directly, but this makes it easier.
I've just starting using the app on Chrome and must say I'm rather impressed with what it allows you to do. If you are enquiring about holiday accommodation, with this app you will now be able to see the owners details ie phone no, website, email address (as long as supplied) and therefore get in contact direct, without having to pay website fees. I found it really straight forward to use, it's free too. At the moment I think its only available on home and away and ownersdirect websites, would be even better if it was available for all the other holiday booking websites too. I will certainly be spreading the word. :)
I was recently asked to review the free StaySavr browser App. After installing the App I searched for properties on the Owners Direct / HomeAway websites, for properties that use StaySavr in addition to displaying the website, the contact information for the Property Owner was also provided which included their telephone number, their website link and a direct email link. If you wish to avoid paying additional booking fees to the advertising website, communicate, book and pay directly with the Owner, which builds the confidence you need when booking your vacation rental. You can get answers to all your questions about the property and location from the Owner and if you require references request them to satisfy yourself that the holiday property is right for you. If the Owner accepts credit card payments, you are protected by your bank under S75 of the Consumer Credit Act, unlike paying a third party website which are not protected by your credit card provider. You and your friends can save money and Book Direct with the Owner by using StaySavr.
A friend passed this add- on at staysavr.com to me saying it would enable me to over-ride the secrecy holiday companies like Owners Direct/Home Away are using to keep us the holiday guests from contacting the owner of holiday properties, thus ensuring (O Direct/Home Away) charging a service fee before letting us have contact with the owner..
I didnt really believe the add-on could do what it said but I simply added the specific add-on to my Android Fire Fox browser and voila I went back to the holiday home I had my eye on ( but before the price was ludicrous with the service fee and I could not get access to the owners phone or email to book direct with no service fee) therefore viewing through FireFox (with add on) like magic WITHOUT having to press request to book or Enquire the owners phone number and email address popped up in the window. Bless you for giving us the facility to speak with the owner, I have just saved myself £263 I will give it 5 stars when its active on all my devices as I am passing it on to all friends and family..Ann Hall
