Great products, great service

I bought the Retrostar rocking chair and footstool from Sternzeit back in 2021. Recently, I asked for replacement stickers for the footstool. These were immediately dispatched, without charge. The rocking chair and footstool are both fabulous and it's great to have them looking tip-top.

We bought two New Life armchairs four…

We bought two New Life armchairs four years apart. We were a bit worried that the old one, once placed next to the new one, would show signs of wear and sun damage, but not at all. They are identical. We are truly satisfied and amazed by the quality of the materials.

Great experience

Sternzeit made everything to compensate the issue we encountered with the delivery of the parcel.
We had to wait but frankly worth it.

Good quality somtimes takes time

We have ordered a chair and a footstool at Sternzeit Design. The delivery was estimated by 6 to 7 weeks. Due to a high workload the delivery was delayed but this was properly announced by Sternzeit design.
Chair and footstool have been shipped in one parcel with only necessary wrapping. The assembling of the few parts has been really easy. We are really pleased.

We orderedDisappointing Customer Service Despite a Great Product a chair from Sternzeit…

We ordered a chair from Sternzeit Design and were initially okay with the shipping delay of a few weeks — these things happen. However, the lack of communication was frustrating. We never received an update or response during the delay, and no real apology either.

When the chair finally arrived, one part was already damaged. We reached out immediately, sent photos, and have now followed up twice via email and even tried calling — still no response.

The product itself looks great and seems well made, but the customer service has been very poor. It’s a shame, because the experience leaves a bitter aftertaste despite a good product.

Rather disappointed

No response, except for automated messages, despite repeated inquiry(„ (in German and English) for new date of delivery after a +4 weeks delay on the original delivery date.
Biggest disappointment lies in the bad communication with me as a customer, which does not align with their advertising as small, relatable, family-run business .

soweit ich weiß ist die Bestellung mittlerweile bei dir und ich würde mich freuen, wenn du in die Bewertung vielleicht noch etwas zu den Möbeln aufnimmst.

Wir wissen, dass unsere Kommunikation ausbaufähig ist. Das muss vor allem dann besser werden, wenn es mal Verzögerungen gibt. Die sind zum Glück nicht die Regel aber kommen bei einer Fertigung von Hand erst nach Auftragseingang leider vor.

Das Problem ist aber unser kleines Team und das steht dann leider nicht im Gegensatz zu einem kleinen familiengeführten Business.

Ich verspreche wir geben unser Bestes, dass das in Zukunft bei allen Bestellungen besser wird.

About 10 weeks after my order (expected…

About 10 weeks after my order (expected delivery 1-3 weeks) I requested an update. No answer, no apology, but 2 hours later a note from DHL my parcel was going to be shipped. Coincidence right? A little bit later delivery than expected is fine, but this long? Be careful with what you promise.

The fact that the dispatch took place after you contacted us is easily explained. As my colleague already wrote to you by email, we unfortunately had a technical problem with the ticket and dispatch system. Although your order was ready, it was unfortunately not offered for dispatch. We're really sorry that we didn't realise this ourselves, but only after you contacted us.

However, we hope that you are satisfied with the furniture itself and that you might reconsider the two stars review :)

Good product, bad communication

Very happy with the chair I ordered, due to which I'm scoring a 4 - however, it took 6 weeks to be delivered, and my multiple attempts (7) at reaching Sternzeit via email, the website, and phone were not returned during this period. I only received automated emails without an indication of delivery timelines. So regarding communication, I'd score them a 1.

we apologise that your order has not yet been dispatched, but we feel it is unfair to talk about a very bad experience here.

According to our system, your email was only sent a day ago and you have given us a 1-star rating even though we have only just left the specified dispatch period. I really wonder if this is VERY BAD and not just "not perfect".

All our products are made by hand only after the order is received. We can meet the dispatch deadline 90 - 95% of the time. You have also already received a previous email from us with some explanation and today another email with more information.

I therefore hope that, in all fairness, you will reconsider this a review. It's sometimes a shame that pressure is always exerted on small companies in this way.

I also think that you can see from many other previous reviews that we always endeavour to provide a good experience.

Initial awe just turned into deep disappointment

Raising my initial 1-star to 3-stars. The item was delivered in the end with great delay and it is up to expectations. The lack of customer support and information was concerning but Markus tried to call me personally [unfortunately i couldnt pick up] but he did show the effort. I really hope they can improve their operational side of the company because the products are not bad at all.

I always love to seek nice built furniture from smaller business. I think it's the best way to cherish and nurture entrepreneurship in a field that's taken over by big box shops.
Unfortunately this time i feel like my trust was badly placed.
I made an order for a bench back in April. The shipment was due to happen in 1-3 weeks. You can guess if im here writing this review that I haven't received anything yet. I just received an update via email saying that people get sick, circumstances get in the way and delays happen. No other detail or ETA. Just a very vague preformatted email telling me not to expect a delivery within the timeframe advertised.
Unfortunately timing for me is essential and i travel a lot for work and I plan orders around my schedule.
I wrote in to the customer support 3 weeks ago and still haven't received any response or detail or approx ETD.
If it wasn't for the other positive reviews I would think the worst.
Thankfully i paid via paypal and if the silence continues I will be forced to open a case with Paypal requesting a charge back.
I'm really disappointed but I can see i'm not the only one in this position so I would definitely suggest Markus from Sternzeit Design to get their act together and start caring about their potential customers [or formerly so].

111 days later: It has arrived

Update: It arrived today! I've upgraded my rating accordingly to balance the chair being nice with the fact it took exactly 111 days and many emails to get it.

The only issue with the chair: One screw is really hard to get in, so it sticks out a little. It may take a little more persistence but overall I am happy with it.

It's been 3 months since I ordered a Retrostar chair from Sternzeit for delivery to the UK. To cut a long story short: I have no chair and I don't hold out much hope of ever getting it. I'd love to be wrong!

It started well: At the end of March I got the tracking number. I watched it leave the warehouse, travel across Germany, reach the DHL processing centre... and then travel back across Germany and back to the warehouse. Returned to sender for no obvious reason. It never even left the country.

Me and Sternzeit have had 3 email conversations since then. Each time I ask them to re-send the chair, each time they say yes, and each time nothing happens.

Maybe the moral of my story is use a payment method that offers some protection in case things go wrong. I'm sure Sternzeit have good intentions, and I'd still love to have the chair, but I'd settle for a refund so I can buy something uglier to sit on

Thank you for your honest review, even though we naturally don't like to read such things.

I also don't quite understand why your order has been returned but even more why it has not yet been reshipped. We had already handed it over to a colleague from logistics about a month ago (at least), who was supposed to take care of it with DHL and the warehouse.

I will send you a substantial update with a new dispatch date by email today, but of course you can also request a refund at any time.

Unresponsive After Order Placed

After posting this review, the customer service team responded, apologizing for the delay and confirming that my order will be dispatched over the next few days.

I placed an order with Sternzeit Design on 22 February, 2024. The initial customer service was excellent and responsive, going above and beyond to provide me support for my order. The order confirmation stated a lead time of 1-3 weeks for production and shipping.

However, over 6 weeks have passed with no shipping notification or new order information. I have reached out several times to see if the customer service team could provide any updates on the situation, but have received no response. It is now 4 April, well beyond the initial timeframe provided.

Based on my current experience, I would caution potential customers before placing an order with Sternzeit.

Great quality and service

We had great communication with Markus, we got the fabric samples relatively quickly, and we received everything very well-wrapped. The quality of the chairs and the upholstery is really nice as well! We're thinking on getting another two chairs to complete the set. Highly recommended!
