Incredibly outdated, highly glitchy and low cost
Strato Sitebuilder is quite literally the WORST online service experience I have ever had for a service that does actually work but is just terrible at doing it. The first year price of €12 euros is the only reason that I have continued to use it for my basic website.
The main problems with the Sitebuilder are:
1. When you save things on your site, some things randomly don't save while other do. So for example, if you make a heading in font size 28 and then block text in font size 18 and then save the updates, absolutely any combination of things can save including the block text being in the large font, the heading moving position on the page and sometimes, some amount of the text just doesn't save at all. This also happens with capitalisation of letters.
2. Some of the template sites have placeholder text that returns every time you make an adjustment to your site. So if you replace the placeholder text with your chosen text and save, the next time you make an amendment on your page, the placeholder text will just randomly return after your next save on the page and if your website is live, the error will be very prominently visible across your site.
3. The available multimedia widgets are so limited, I can only assume that they were developed pre-2012 and never updated since. So if you need to do anything mildly modern, do not use Strato.
4. You cannot copy a webpage so if your site involves regularly adding new pages very similar to a previous page (such as recurring events), it is highly tedious and time consuming to make new pages each time. And FORGET about copy and pasting text haha. Honestly, it is really embarrassing that people are willing to sell this service with a straight face.
5. If you are accustomed to being able to make updates on Strato Sitebuilder from a mobile device, do not use site builder. It doesn't work.
6. The functionality of the sitebuilder itself sometimes just doesn't work. So if you want to use the sitemap to click on a page to amend, sometimes it just doesn't open when you click it. I have found that the best way to cover this is to reload the page (and your most recent saves changing to something else as described above) or loging out and logging in again.
To conclude, if you need just a simple site, have not used a better site builder recently and are focused on low cost, Strato mate just about be useful to you but for ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING ELSE, please please please save yourself the stress and use anything else. Trust me.

Billing after cancellation
The worst service ever. I regret that I ever started with Strato. I had a free one-year package and abandoned it after a few months because it was slow and inconvenient for me. Now after a year, they are sending me bills from intrum.com for the service they already cancelled:
We hereby inform you that we are canceling your STRATO package (order number: 7455178). This is due to outstanding invoices.
Your package will therefore end on 23.03.2022.
So my package is cancelled since I didn't renew it. Now they are trying to force it on me! That's really shady business.

Extremely unintuitive UI, hidden fees.
Do not use this website to register domains, it takes 10 clicks to do anything on their website. This includes the cancellation of domain "packages" -- you will likely pay hidden fees. They send some account communication only per post.
Save your money and time and just use another service.

I have been using strato for the last 8 years now and gradualy i am expanding the service's i use. As far as it concerns me every thing works fine, against atractive pricing and all is stored in the european union.
Efficient and trusted site for domain registration
I registered 5 domain names at Strato. The process is simple and efficient, and the cost is far cheaper compared with other domain registration sites. I highly recommend it.

VPS is still down after 30 hours without a solution
I was happy with strato until, i experienced my first encounter with support. My vps didn't start anymore after a reboot. So i concacted the support. The support told me that they have no clue when the server was fixed. so after 4 hours i started calling with the same question when was the server fixed. Still the avoid to give an answer. So after that i called every 4 hours, every time they say that the datacenter was bussy, that they are a bugget hostingprovider and that gives them the right to do nothing on the server for 30 hours. Still they don't give any details if the datacenter is working on it and how long it takes.

Good company
The packages they offer are really cheap compared to others, fast setup and never had any problems! Their customer support is also very friendly!
Things can be improved
I have placed an order and used a secure email address that I always use. For days, I haven't heard anything although Strato promises to activate your account within 24 hours. Sure.
There was a complete silence until I sent an email and then called. I was told this: my order had been cancelled and I am told to use another email address. (What is this???) I called the customer service and have been informed that my email provider is a highly secure email service that is also used by "people with bad intentions" (which I have nothing to do with) and that I should place my order from another email address, like "Hotmail and Gmail". (Is Gmail or Hotmail never used by people with bad intentions?!) This is unbelievable, as if companies behind Hotmail and Gmail and people using these have only good intentions.
Edit: Strato has immediately reacted to my email/review and seems to be willing to look into this practice of requesting users to use certain email services. This is great.

No support for customers in the UK
I find it very interesting that Strato replies to all the negative reviews saying it is a transparent company. Nothing could be further from the truth. I am in the UK trying to get our email server/domain back after it was ‘blocked’ with no explanation or notice. And there is NO ENGLISH SUPPORT. No contact number, no email address. Only a useless set of filters that don’t provide any way of contacting Strato EN or NL or anything when the issue you want resolved is not one of the presets.
They eventually unblocked the account, it lasted for 15 mins and again we have no access and cannot contact the company. A guy in NL who we managed to speak to contact earlier said there are only 2 staff for UK and so you can’t contact them.
Then don’t provide a service in the UK if you can’t support it.

Mafia-like practices
Terrible experience. Without prior notice, and before the end of the period that I had contracted, they automatically renewed the package that I had contracted for another year. When I noticed the charge in my account and canceled all my products with them, I returned the charge and they began to send me letters to my home threatening to take me to court for € 14.92 whose services I had already resigned !! Then more letters came threatening to use a collection company (which, indeed, he wrote to me). BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THEM. THEY USE BAD COMMERCIAL PRACTICES, ALMOST MAFIA-LIKE

Corrupted backup emails
We wanted to move our emailadresses (with all the mails) to a new account. The solution of Strato support was to use the option download personal data in the webmail. After the migration all the mail could be copied back to the emailboxes.
But all the zip-files with the downloaded data of all the five emailadresses are corrupted. After a call with the helpdesk the only reaction was "Bad Luck".
So we lost 2 years of emails with the help of Strato and after this no help of what so ever.

Hidden fees
Hidden fees for no apparent reason that they subtract from your bank account without asking (multiple 12€ transactions on my bank account while I paid for the whole year in advance). No option to immediately terminate the contract, so you are stuck with the hidden fees until the contract ends. If you don't pay they will send incasso agencies after you with even higher fees. Had no issues with the website but the business is trash.
