Bikes get nicked. Kitchen just devolves into a mess because staff don't make tenants take any accountability whatsoever. It really is bad for the money you pay. Complete staff neglect.
There is complete and utter mess in the kitchen and the staff reply saying "we can't be accountable for someone else's standards that may differ to othe people's". These comments after there have literally been maggots in the kitchen. It resulted in me having to be a literal maid for everyone who never cleaned up. I came back after 2 months away abroad and the place looked like a bomb had hit it.
The bike on the other hand happended due to staff encouraging students to yank the door open due to the keys not working to allow access. Then obviously someone must have seen this and just went in there themselves and stole my bike. Security is shocking.
I really do think that considering the money you pay you should receive better!

I lived in student roost from september 2023- july 2024. During my time there i had a plethora of issues, none were resolved. I had sent an email to complain about my living situation, see here:
I am writing to make a complaint against the people living in block F flat 29. I have woken up this morning to find that all of my food has been taken from my cupboards and food has been smeared on my bedroom door. i am very disappointed with this. i would also like to request to change flats as i feel as though it being bullied/targeted by my flatmates. I would also like to request to cancel my booking for the next academic year to live in student roost.

I also spoke to members of staff regarding this issue. However i was never offered support or a change of flats. Leading to me living at home for most of the year, spending money on a flat i am not comfortable living in. I believe student roost do not care for students wellbeing or safety. they just want to grab money.

I always paid my rent on time and even made a habit of going to reception in person to pay so that the staff knew I paid, and yet all year round I was constantly harassed with late rent emails with threats of sending a "third-party debt collection agency" which is quite frankly terrifying to read over and over when you are 19 and living away from home. I brought this up with staff multiple times and I was told they would put notes on the system and notify management that I had paid my rent, yet I still received the emails all throughout the duration of my tenancy. I felt extremely vulnerable and paranoid that my items would be wrongfully repossessed whenever I went out of the flat for lectures or even when I went home for holidays, and that feeling of paranoia persisted for the whole year, making my 2nd year at university quite miserable. Heating broke for all of winter and they took their time fixing it. Gave us a portable heater in the meantime that didn’t work. Continually gaslit us into believing we never reported a heating issue. A lot of staff were lovely but a lot were rude. Don’t expect to be treated with respect

Reception staff (bar one or two members) were rude, dismissive and downright disrespectful when I complained about issues. Student roost are also money grabbers who fine residents extortionate sums of money for “damage” to the rooms.

Didn’t fix my blind for near 3 months after filing a complaint, locked off our balcony for near 3 months without any warning. No security on the entry door and our front door didn’t lock for the entire year. The staff were helpful where they could be, and very kind. They had no control over maintenance, which I think was the main issue.

It a nice accommodation but the new price is too outrageous for a student to afford. Please try address the issue of bed bug is too much in the building. Even all my friends rooms have bedbugs which is very bad to health
