Today

Today, 3/9/23, I received yet another mafia-style shake down from this litigious “company.” After making 2 payments this week. They still sent out a driver to lock the propane tank that I rent AND pay for, because they wanted the remaining payment in full!
Mind you, they are already price gouging me by charging $4.25 per gal for propane! After I fought for nearly 4 months for them to reduce it from $6.09 per gal!!!
It’s criminal.
DO NOT ever, ever, ever get in to contract or business with this horrid company. Stay away, far away from these wanna be mafia crooks.

Rude people ripping people off especially seniors

Guy came to the door with a rude demeanor all but demanding a payment of $70.00 or he would cap off the tank. Was confused as I've never been approached in that manner by the company. I told him to let me call and speak to someone in the office. He said fine and he would check and see if the tank needed gas since I only used it for my fireplace that hasn't been used for years because of a broken pilot light. He said he would come back after he checked it to see what I found out. Before I could even get someone on the phone, he went ahead and capped it then left. The lady??? I spoke to was nice at first then, changed her tone and refused to try and resolve the issue telling me that NOW I owe them the $70.00 PLUS a reconnection fee totaling over $200.00! After calming down a bit, I read reviews about other people's negative experiences. A LOT of them were seniors like my husband and I. This company is taking advantage of people and cheating them out of their money (I'm sure a lot of them are on a fixed income and are barely scraping by). Something needs to be done about this. Attorneys need to get involved with this situation. I suggest all us victims contact the BBB and the Attorney General's Office to report this type of practice!

Very poor customer service

Very poor customer service. You will wait at least 2 weeks when you call for a delivery. Then they will tell you they are coming and no show time and time again. They never call you back when you call.

Still owe me $550 after a year nearly a year

Started out in May 2022 cash on delivery the lady had me look at the meter on the tanks and when she charged me on my credit card and I actually got the bill they delivered 100 and I think $45 less than what I was charged to the old me $145 so she said I had a credit and I said no I’m COD I don’t want a credit I want to check so they sent me a check and the lady that had had a check cut to me I’m pretty sure she stopped payment on the first check out of spiteI Bouncedthat through my checking account😩 Then they sent me a second check and that one cleared I move their tanks in my front lawn and there they remained all summer they came and picked them up on the fall there were half full so I had 100 gallons of LP gas in them that’s $550 they help me up at those prices I have yet to receive my money back it’s headed for a year $530 I want my money I can’t believe these people .Cancel Jack and Mary’s as miserable as And experience for me as They possibly could 👊

Most unreliable company I've dealt with.

We have a gas log fireplace and we had a less than professional tech who couldn't even be bothered to introduce himself at the door come out and quote us for a tank installation. Our hook up is under the deck so they wrote on the quote it would be no problem to put it where the existing hook up is. My husband took off work to be here for the installation, but the tech called out and they had no one else to do it and rescheduled, so a whole days worth of pay gone with only $50 removed from the installation fee. Yesterday another tech comes and says he's unable to put it where the original tech quoted, told me it would be $250-$400 to run copper wire to another area and place the tank on the side of the house, but we'd have to hire a plumber. I asked him if he could call the office to find out where the miscommunication was with the original quote and he said he doesn't have the option to do that. He clearly just didn't want to. The operations manager came to the house to check it out after my husband called and he said he would come out himself with a tech today to install a tank in the original place. Today they called to say they don't have two techs to come and the operations manager is too busy. The woman Denise in the office offers no advice or solutions, just excuses. We will never work with such an unreliable company. Please don't waste your time going back and forth with this unprofessional business.

Continued no-show! A HUGE waste of my time (3 days)

I scheduled an appointment for a propane tank installation a month ago. They give you an all day window to show up and today was the third day that I sat at the house waiting. They don't call to let you know that they are not coming. So once again today they never showed. I called and same excuse: their guy is out sick. I've called another company. Maybe they actually want my business.

Terrible aervice

We have been dealing with Surburban propane for 20 years. After today we are done! My wife and I are over 60yrs old. Yesterday we ran out of propane. We called immediately and were told we would get a call back tomorrow.
Well, we never got the call so we called back. I was told they did not know when they would be in our area. Might be 7 to 14 days also they would be charging us an additional $ 160.00 for pressure check.
They just don't care, they said pay the $160 or we won't put fuel in your tank.
Unbelievable treatment but then again No Big Surprise. I will be looking for another fuel company today.
Bob L.
PS I did not give them 1 star I give them a big 0

Unreliable

Despite everyone being nice when I call, every experience I've had here has a been a complete disaster. Getting my tank installed and hooked up took at least three, maybe four appts, because no one knew what the prior person had done or said. And now I need it re-hooked up - waited two weeks for an appt, no one showed, when I called was told I was bumped for an emergency and had to wait another two weeks? (1) Why wouldn't emergencies be built into the schedule? and (2) Why wouldn't they accommodate a sooner appt due to an issue on their end? Thank god I don't need this gas for something critical like heat! I guess when you don't have much competition you can treat people however you want.

This will be the fourth day my father

This will be the fourth day my father , a senior citizen, has been without propane. In the freezing temperatures and after several promises to deliver . Day after day , it’s the same response….They’ll be there very soon. It also happens to be the third time they’ve failed to deliver before we’ve run out. Prepaying will not afford you the luxury of delivery in a timely manner and you do not get a refund. Suburban Propane has been the worst customer service I’ve experienced and I will be going elsewhere when my agreement is renewed. If you aren’t prepared to sit in the cold with mittens on for days , I’d suggest going with a different provider. Suburban clearly has a larger customer base than they can service at this time.

Unscrupulous business practice

Unscrupulous business practice. Should not be providing service in California. Price gouging. They offer auto refill without informing the consumers of the increase in price. We were charge for refill at $6.75 per gallon. There's the rationale in this pricing except greed and gouging. How can they justify this pricing when other companies are paying between 2.45 to 2.65.

Fl Keys residences paying over double

Fl Keys residences paying over double the national average per gallon. Every residence is paying a different amount per gallon as well. We were being charged $8.38 per gallon when the national average is between $3 to $5.00 per gallon. They adjusted our bill as they've done several times. Its sad how they are price gouging their customers. Currently the price of a 5 gallon propane tank is $5.00 per gallon

Worst Company

ZERO. -ZERO stars for this company, EVERY Year, on EVERY single level. Year after year. ...-Price gouging. Sued for it multiple times. They claim to have other benefits -but they only apply to their "Big Accounts", those who do not spend thousands get stiffed worse. Their "deals" come with a COSTLY Catch. --HORRIBLE, non existent customer service skills from the bottom all the way up to their supervisors. -Supervisors who work employees over time WITHOUT pay, get Holiday Bonuses large enough to buy Cars -(Cal, company CEO whom bought a BMW one year using just a bonus) or utter unprofessional remarks such as: "Did I stutter?!" or "sign this document so the company won't owe you over time, even if you work it" (Supervisor Cathe Giannetti) or a driver supervisor who speaks only with customers who spend thousands yearly (& still very rudely) along with speaking terrible things of his drivers behind their back & deciding "which customer spends the most & therefore deserves priority & the better price" (Dennis Wright -whose phony "positive rating" review appears on Facebook) along with the general location manager (Debra Jackson) whom is willing to bend ANY rule to pass inspection and prevent any employee she can from being happy working there (turn around is HORRIBLE because of the abuse & harassment) while she profits by price gouging the common customer, in spite of the low level employees who wish to charge a FAIR price per gallon, even if foregoing the coveted "Yearly Bonus". They charge you more there at the source than going to a gas station to fill up a small tank!! Not to mention charges upon service charges, whether they should apply or not! All they care about is profit, not loyalty. PLUS collaborating to create & post FALSE positive reviews...Without doubt, this lousy company has truly earned its horrible (very true) reputation. -See other reviews; all us prior customers can't be lying. We Customers run to the arms of smaller companies whom still know what is FAIR & what "Customer Service" TRULY represents. Do yourself a favor, find a different company. DON'T, DON'T throw your hard earned money away on these hyenas. HORRIBLE business tactics by horrible people.
& p.s.: The few "positive" reviews you see are from current employees, NOT real customers (ie Dennis Wright)

Don't use them. I gave them many chances, and they gouged and cheated

I gave them many chances, but when they started charging $5.79 a gallon when others in the neighbor hood were charging dollars less per gallon, again; we said enough. They promised to reimburse us for all the gas left in the tank. They had charged us $999 for filling to 80% last fill. We used gas for a week during warm weather, and had to shut down the furnace for a repair for weeks. When the tank was removed at the end of the month, it read over 50%, about 60%. When I questioned that we only got back $300, I was told they weighed the tank and it only had 19% left in it. They stole from us. Maybe the tank leaked after it was removed and sat in the driveway for weeks, but I doubt it. I do not recommend them. How could we have used 60% of a tank when it was 70 degrees out and our furnace was off for weeks. You have to deal with people from new Jersey when you live in VT. Local people are far better, more honest and helpful. I got repeated calls from their company and threats for collection after we paid the final bill. I called the main company today and was told that there was no balance due. I was told it just must have taken weeks to get the message. Unpleasant experience

They will try to steal from you…
I have driver show up out of nowhere. We did not need any propane because my fireplace was not working. My dog was in the back yard so nobody could go in the back yard. We received bill for over 70 dollars for propane was never put in.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS BIZ

This is the worst business I have ever dealt with. Either their employees are incredibly uninformed and totally unaware of absolutely anything related to this business or this business just lies constantly. It was difficult to get serviced in the winter when it’s COLD but of course someone comes in April or May and fills the tank when you don’t need heat. They charge an INCREDIBLE amount for their product. Literally call ANY other company and you will save multiple dollars a gallon. Regardless of use we would get bumped up to the most expensive tier almost every single time they came. If you like spending (wasting) your time on the phone with people that don’t seem to understand anything about anything hire this company - because you’ll need to call them multiple times a year and explain all the issues to people that do very much speak English, but don’t seem to comprehend anything. It’s not an accident that these reviews are all horrible and seem to have similar content.

The company we hired to replace them told us the tank was installed incorrectly- not to code. So that was probably UNSAFE as it was not the legally required distance from the fireplace but why would I be surprised by anything incompetent this company does??

I will NEVER get propane from them

I will NEVER get propane from them! I just bought a house that had one of their propane tanks in the back yard. The previous owners purchased propane from Suburban and when they sold the house to me there was 30% left in the tank. Since it was paid for by the previous owners, and we bought the house from them, that would make that 30% of a tank OURS now...no, they (Suburban Propane) had the nerve to send a man to our house at 7:45am the next business day, without any prior notice, to lock it up so that I couldn't use it. But, they proceeded to let me know that it's $100/yr to have their tank stored in my yard. I would give a"-5" review if I could. Beware, they are ripping people off and reselling already paid for propane.
