Bought a so called reconditioned and…

Bought a so called reconditioned and sanitized dishwasher, which was blatantly not, and despite contacting manager of shop and sending photos of filth inside and phoning , I'm met so far with an aggressive defensive response and no action or further response. Disgraceful. Don't buy so called reconditioned because they are not, or expect any response if you complain.

Utterly Bewildering!

We had arranged for Sue Ryder to collect a 3/4 seater beige leather sofa and two swivel recliner leather matching arm chairs earlier today. My wife and I were horrified when the Boxmove team arrived to collect the items and went over the sofa in meticulous detail, stating that they rejected it because it had a small scratch near the floor on the back - that we weren’t even aware of!
Strangely, considering they are so keen to check the saleability of items, they couldn’t be bothered to check either of the swivel or recliner mechanisms before quickly removing the chairs. We strongly suspect that as we were the 10th pick-up this morning that they either didn’t have space on their vehicle for our sofa or just couldn’t be bothered to manipulate it around the back of the house in order to remove it. As a result, we now have an incomplete suite and the Boxmove guys missed out on a £20 ‘thankyou’, In these times of such need, I simply fail to understand what happened to us today!
6 April 2023 - Following a message from Sue Ryder suggesting that I had reviewed the wrong company, I can only partly agree as it was Sue Ryder who contracted Boxmove to do their collections/deliveries and I wanted them to know that Boxmove, for all their excellent reviews, are employing the wrong people who are wrongly condemning perfectly saleable items because they either can’t be bothered to collect them or find the most pathetic excuse to declare them unsaleable. I make no apologies for directing my review at Sue Ryder in hopes they will read the many 1 and 2 star reviews and source another company to make their collections and deliveries using people who share Sue Ryders philosophy to sell gifted items to make money to support charities. Very commendable, however the crew who visited us clearly had no intention of ever taking the leather sofa. Here’s a challenge Sue Ryder; please take the opportunity to visit our home and judge for yourself whether our sofa is saleable, or not? We look forward to you making contact. I will submit a review of Boxmove later today.

This is a terrible branch of Sue Ryder

Sue Ryder FARNHAM , SURREY This is a terrible branch of Sue Ryder. They don’t answer their phones. I booked in online to donate a sofa to them. I got a message back saying they will
Collect today. Then another one saying they won’t collect anything. Then another one saying it will collected in a 90 minute slot. Than nothing else. I called their phone number over and over and no one bothered answering at any time of day. A different number directed me to their reading branch and they lady said she will reach out to them and call me back. She didn’t and said the phone systems they are using which had been provided by Croft communications have been useless. So sad now I have to find a different charity to donate too after all this long windedness.

Absolutely love it!…

I've recently become a volunteer for my local branch in Sandbach. I can honestly say it is one of the best decisions I've ever made since retiring from work, The other volunteers are delightful & supportive & the manager Sharon is very patient & understanding. I'm now into my 4th week & I really look forward to my Monday & Friday stints in the shop. There is always plenty to do & the time passes really quickly. I love it!

Sue Ryder Chingford

It’s always a pleasure to go into Sue Ryder Station Rd Chingford whether to buy or donate. Staff are always friendly, cheerful and helpful. Prices are very reasonable and items in good condition. It’s lovely to go in and see donated items on sale and know the money is going to a very worthy cause.

Pudsey is Perfection.

There's always such a friendly, welcoming vibe in the Sue Ryder Store in Pudsey. The excellent manager and her staff have a wonderful rapport with every customer. They provide a valuable community resource as well as raising much needed funds.
If the manager ever decides to leave I hope that they place a Blue Plaque outside the door to celebrate her style, panache and vivacious personality.

Sue Ryder HAINAULT

Used to be so a good shop, but now the prices are just crazy. Barbour top £9, Barbour cardigan from £20, picture £40. Primark, New look brands from £4 onwards. If you will find a nice designer piece, do not get excited, please, PLEASE PLEASE check the item accurately. All of them are damaged. Stained, ripped, with holes. If you show the damage to the shop assistants they just do not care.

Hi Ola

We're very sorry you feel this way. The main purpose of Sue Ryder charity shops is to raise money so we can continue to provide palliative, neurological and bereavement support. The pricing of the goods we sell is decided by the shop manager and their team, with the help of a pricing guideline. The best way to thank donors for their kindness and generosity is to get the best possible price, which means we can provide more care for more people.
We are concerned to hear you think that items are going to the shop floor damaged, and we will pass this on to the area manager to review the trainign for the team.
Best wishes

WHOA! what a piece of toast....so rude and obnoxious they make free money with donations and volunteers and have an attitude as well! Not only this, they pull the prices up after sizing people up, if you have an accent you pay more even though the items are priced or not priced or the tag has come undone or whatever nonsense they say...good cause yeah right rip off as they please more likely welcome to the charity shop planet of greed...Hey manager girl from Lboro clean that shop aint you get any half bottles of cleaning agent??

I am happy with my purchase

I am happy with my purchase. I bought a nice dressing table with mirrored drawers. I was a bit nervous about it as reviews on here are not great.
It was delivered within two days via DPD and item is great. It was bought on sale , but brand new. It has a little damage on one of the boards but nothing extremely visible.

Timewasters

If I could give these clowns zero I would.

Offered them a near perfect item, sent them photos and they accepted the offer. I got up at 6.30a.m to make sure I, and the item, was available.

When the driver turned up, he said he couldn't take it because it had one tiny, and I mean tiny, very faint mark on it.

What do they want for free?

No reflection on the driver, he was very apologetic but said he'd "get into trouble" if he took the item.

If you want your time wasted, I'd highly recommend interacting with these clowns. Otherwise, avoid.

Hi Nasti Chestikov

Our apologies for the inconvenience. If an item has a large visible stain we can't take these as they won't sell, and it ends up costing us money to dispose of them, This sounds like it was a smaller mark, and I'm going to dm you for more info to get a photo to pass to our team, so we can improve driver training.

Very Badly Run Shop

I bought some cups & saucers from this shop in August. My fault for not checking and the ticket said 2 were damaged. When I got them home, 5 cups were damaged and the plates were missing. I rang up to speak to an assistant and was rudely dealt with. Whenever I go in this shop, they are always having a go about someone of something in a loud voice. Their service is appalling. But to be ripped off so openly is another step. I wrote to the Head Office to express my disappointment. They said someone would get back to me which of course they did not. This was August. Avoid this branch at all cost. If you are raising money for charity, you still have obligations.

Booked collection of 3

Evasive Manager at Farnham shop.
Booked online donation of 3 seater sofa 2 weeks ago and unfortunately today when it was meant to be picked up,no one came to collect.
On speaking to the Manager at the Farnham store this afternoon she insisted that there was no booking logged. I had a screen shot of booking and l presume there was an error after l had booked, technical or human.
Rescheduled another collection date for Saturday and attached photos as requested.
This afternoon received a call from the Manager to say that slot wasn’t available and would have to wait another 3 weeks, not a problem.
Then she decided to be honest and said the sofa was old fashioned and not what she felt would sell.
Ok, l’m not offended the furniture belongs to my 93 year old father who has just been discharged from hospital and needs to downsize.
Instead of being evasive and not honest with me she has wasted my time and hers. This individual needs to be trained in communicating in a honest and truthful manner.

Went to Sue Ryder charity shop in Banbury, Warwick rd.
Jackie the manager was very welcoming, helpful and friendly. Jackie clearly values her customer care and was very proud of the shop.
Myself and my friend had travelled from South Wales for a camping trip and often seek out Sue Ryder charity shops in the area. We were not disappointed.
Many little finds were had and it was a pleasurable experience browsing the products which were clean and cared for.

Thank you, we hope to be back next year!

Show a little charity.

Hello to all,
Our Market Drayton shop is absolutely tops!
I am disappointed by those who feel the need to write bad reviews about other shops. Remember folks that you are supporting a CHARITY. You should give as much cash as you can for items even if you suppose they are cheaper elsewhere. Also remember that staff are VOLUNTEERS. They are entitled to be a little grumpy now and then.
Lets all show a little charity!!!!!

Pull your socks up

Absolutely appalling on line ordering system & customer service back up.

I've just spent the good part of an hour trying to order an item.

It took SIX attempts for the payment to be processed & the helpline was a joke - a recorded message disconnected immediately after requesting me to send an email.

On my final attempt, I forgot to add a donation but c'est la vie, the experience has put me in such a foul mood that I'm not feeling particularly charitable at the moment & I certainly hope I never have to use this service again.

Pah!

I very rarely feel the need to complain…

I very rarely feel the need to complain about things, but I and my sister in law recently visited Sue Ryder in Saltash in Cornwall, we had spent all morning quietly sorting out things as I am downsizing my accommodation, I have also recently been diagnosed with a heart condition, so was not wanting to rush. Having checked opening time's on the website we drove to the store, outside the store was a sign saying donations accepted whenever the store is open, we did also ask a lovely young volunteer within the store if it was ok to bring things in, she explained that they encourage people to bring donations in the morning, but as we were there we could leave our offerings there this time.
I took one of the trolleys, loaded it up and took it to the back room and started to unload, whereupon an older woman said very loudly" did anyone tell you that you could bring that in here?" I informed her that we had been told we could - I then received a very unfriendly lecture on how it was not convenient for them at that time and we needed to bring it back another time. After some discussion she reluctantly agreed to keep the donations I had already unloaded, but my sister in law was instructed to take her trolley back out and we had to put the rest back in the car.
We left and went to Banardos who were very welcoming and grateful- certainly know where I will frequent in the future!
