Slow collection, otherwise fine

Delivered on time and driver was helpful although skip was a bit worse for wear - Door damaged (not that we needed it). I let them know as soon as it was filled and was told 5 working days to collect which was fair but reality was 10 working days ( 2 weeks) and I had to push for collection. When they did collect all went smoothly. Generally positive and support via email was quick and helpful, but I think they may be short staffed in drivers.

Great company

Great company. The driver was super helpful and friendly. The material I ordered was not suitable for my application. Lindsey gave me a full refund and they collected the material. Superb customer service.

NOT RECOMMEND

I could not recommend this company, Their lorry damaged my drive and when I complained they would not accept any liability. They claimed that their driver had discussed that the drive might be damaged by the process but no such conversation took place. They provided some photographic evidence that a square pad was used to protect the drive when it is clear that the hole was created by a round foot. My advice is go elsewhere to a company that would be more careful.

We’ve reviewed this job in detail with the driver and our transport team.
Before unloading, the driver raised concerns about the driveway’s suitability for the vehicle’s weight and discussed this directly with the lady on site. Despite that advice, he was instructed to proceed, as the driveway was due to be replaced during upcoming renovation works. To reduce risk, the driver used both ground protection pads during the lift.
Unfortunately, the weight involved still caused damage to the surface. Once this happened, the driver filled the affected area with loose rubble on site, which the lady present confirmed she was happy with at the time. We also have photographs showing the pads in use and the temporary repair afterward.
Our terms and conditions, which are provided at the point of booking, explain that suitable ground conditions are the customer’s responsibility for unloading and collection. That said, we understand how frustrating any damage can be.
If you’d like to discuss this further, we’re always open to a direct conversation to review the details together.

We have used Sun Skips for a few years now, and they have always been very reliable. The drivers are friendly and will always call if we are not on site to check the skip's location. Couldn't ask for more

I’ve used this company several times…

I’ve used this company several times before without any issues, but after my most recent experience I will never use them again. The driver was rude and even threatening, customer service was unhelpful, and the whole process was a complete mess. The skip was left on my driveway for over 16 days instead of the agreed 7, despite me calling twice to arrange collection.

When they finally attempted collection, it was at the worst possible time, and I was told I had to remove half of the contents from the skip—something I’ve never experienced with this company before. On top of that, the skip itself was much smaller than usual, barely fitting a few bags, yet the price has become too high for what it is.

Overall, the service was disorganised, overpriced, and extremely disappointing. I’m now left with a major problem to resolve, ongoing threats of extra charges, and the skip still sitting on my property.

I ordered a 4-yard skip, but the skip delivered was much smaller and looked more like a 2-yard skip. Nobody confirmed the size of the skip upon delivery. In the past, 4-yard skips have filled my driveway with no room for anything else, but this one fit into a small corner, leaving enough space for a car.

You also stated that I got given an extension which is not true. I called today to explain that I have COVID and am very unwell, so I cannot be there for collection tomorrow. I was told that regardless of my health or situation, everything must be offloaded by Tuesday or extra charges would apply. I explained again that I am unable to travel home due to my illness, let alone offload a skip from a distance, but was simply told, “that’s my problem.”

If the skip had been collected within the original 7 days as it should have been, the size issue could have been checked and the skip offloaded if necessary, and none of this would have happened.

On top of this, when the driver came to collect, he knocked on the door swearing and shouting in a rude manner in front of children, simply because he was frustrated with traffic. This is completely unacceptable. When I recover, I will be measuring the skip and taking further action.

To clarify, the skip you ordered was a 4-yard container with a standard 7-day hire. Our driver attended on the agreed collection date, but the skip was found to be overloaded above the max fill height indicator, which meant it couldn’t be safely lifted. As you were leaving for holiday at the time, we agreed to extend the hire at no extra charge until you were available to level the skip.
We then scheduled collection again for the date you requested, but unfortunately the skip remained overloaded and later became blocked in by a vehicle, preventing collection. The only time rental charges were mentioned was in relation to the possibility of further delays beyond the dates you had asked us to work around.
We absolutely understand how frustrating delays can be. Please be assured that our priority is always to collect skips promptly and safely, while following the regulations we must work within.

Fab and reliable company

Ordered a skip after being let down by another company. Told the lovely lady on the phone what the other company had told me as to why they couldn’t deliver. She then asked her logistics manager who said no problem we will put the skip on a smaller lorry. Skip turned up nice and early on the day promised. Would definitely use again

Excessive additional charges

As a team of local builders in the Suffolk area we’ve been using Sun skips as a continuation ever since they took over Cooks Waste Kare, until now we’ve always been impressed by their customer service and their flexibility, on our last job one of our team had left less than one sheet of plasterboard in large pieces on top of the skip which could be easily removed from the rest of the waste, in the past we have had drivers tell us as long as the plasterboard can be easily separated or is bagged this isn’t a problem however on this occasion we received a call to inform us there would be an additional charge, we believed this would be around £10 as I know some competitors charge but we were charged £72 as a contaminated waste charge. The plasterboard was in large pieces and easily removed, how this warrants a £72 charge is beyond me regardless. It feels very much like daylight robbery and has soured our view towards the company. It is purely the principle of the matter and wouldn’t have a problem if the waste was clearly ‘contaminated’ but I strongly feel all charges should be proportional to the actual cost.
Unless some action is taken with this charge both ourselves and all our contractors will be using an alternative waste removal service in the future.

Discriminates against people with disabilities!!!

I recently ordered a skip with the intention of getting it filled up. However, I received an unexpected cancer diagnosis and had an urgent op last week. I've arranged for my landscaper to help load the skip today and tomorrow but as we drove to the house the skip lorry drove past with our empty skip on board! Sun skips have been notified about the reason for our delay but won't return the skip or my three hundred pounds. The woman won't allow me to speak with the manager either. Apparently we can take our waste to the yard at Dereham and dump it for free. That's fifty miles from home and I have a mini!!! Hence the reason for the skip in the first place. YET when PIPs was taken over by this company I had a full skip sitting on my driveway for weeks, despite regular phone calls to chase them up for collection. They said the takeover caused the delay!!! I will never use this company again. The customer service is appalling and they discriminate against people with health conditions!

I have had a skip ( not mine ) on my…

I have had a skip ( not mine ) on my property blocking access to my garage for almost a month now with little sign of it moving.
We have shared several emails and arrangements have been broken.
On calling again due to a no show I was informed there are around 200 skips awaiting collection as they are busy being its August. It is actually September but never mind that i am more concerned that on attempting to book a skip out of curiosity i could get one out tomorrow which is surely adding to the 200 already queued for collections.
Why is this i ask. They can deliver empties but not collect long overdue skips.
No drivers
So why deliver if they can’t collect for a month or so?

Now collected thankyou as arranged with you direct.

Allow carpet and underlay without…

Allow carpet and underlay without charge unlike other firms however, the only gripe is that the collection is unreliable, no communication or heads up. I was hoping it would be gone on the 7th day like the booking but collection is ‘from’ the 7th day. Glad I didn’t pay extra for the 12 day hire because that’s how long it’s been here so far.

Otherwise, service is good and would use again.

*update*, I’ve updated the stars from 4 to 3 purely because I was told last Thursday over the phone that collection would be Monday by the absolute latest, however still not collected and very unfortunate as I have a very large delivery tomorrow planned..
