Awful, avoid. It is almost a year since my system was installed. It was not a seamless process. Initially everything was excellent and I felt I got good advice from John the sales rep and help with the grant application. The installation process was terrible, the electrician who carried out the installation was totally inappropriate, asking the young farm worker to lift him up with the farm loader to do the job without asking my permission, this is a farm vehicle used for lifting bales etc. not a working from height vehicle. He also left boxes and cable thrown around. If they had been neatly left undercover I would have gladly recycled them but they were left out and got blown around and rained on. Our system then took a month after installation to get commission, so for the time of the year when most energy is generated I lost out. I chose Swift Energy because of the Bord Gais affiliation, although I had received cheaper quotes from other companies, I wish I hadn’t blindly felt reassured by a big name. I continued to have large electricity bills until March despite contacting Swift for advice. Following a conversation with my neighbour who had photovoltaic’s installed at a similar time and hearing that he virtually had no electricity bills I couldn’t believe it. My neighbour offered to look at how my system was set up through the app and he spent time setting everything up. Since then my bills are half the price they were. I felt the support around setting up the system correctly to maximise the energy and cost saving was just terrible, I wonder do they actually understand it themselves. There are many great people working in this company who have been very helpful but I think that it is just disorganised. I have many farming friends who are seriously looking at installing solar systems but unfortunately when they ask me would I recommend Swift, it’s a big NO from me.

unfortunately a very poor experience, customer services who never ring back and a half completed installation with no promised date of completion. Leaves me with little confidence that the waranty will be worth anything if we eventually get our 20 solar panels connected and experience an issue later on.

I am an existing customer looking to add on extra solar panels. Despite several contacts, booking 4 appointments for a callback and speaking to the support line, all happening since April 2026, noone contacted back yet and looks like the company is not interested in the business. Have regrets as should have chosen other reputable companies on the market at the outset.

Avoid dealing with this company. They operate under the Bord Gáis name, but the experience reflects the same practices as the old Swyft Solar. They require upfront payments for what appear to be superficial or misleading assessments, only to later claim that additional home upgrades are necessary—effectively locking you into further costs. Additionally, they do not handle feedback or complaints in a professional or responsive manner.

Avoid at all costs!
We ordered solar panels in November. They’ve been installed since November and we’re still waiting for their electrician to connect them and install an ev charger. It’s now almost June. Unfortunately we paid everything up front and it’s impossible to contact them as they won’t answer our calls. From day one the customer service has been abysmal.

Hi,our solar panels stopped working a week ago and we had them installed less than a year ago.After several emails and numerous phone calls they sent an engineer to fix them this morning which made no difference whatsoever as they are still not working. He changed a part and they still wouldn't work so he left saying it is the isolator switches that are gone but he didn't have any.I then rang the office when he left because he said he couldn't give me a date when he'd be back but I got no more help from the man in the office as he just said he wouldn't be able to give me a date either and he'd get back to me.I don't know when he will get back to me with a date for an engineer to come out again and as it is our panels are absolutely useless and the sun shining for the last week. I can't understand why they don't carry standard parts when they finally call out or why they can't give a date of when someone will call again. It's very unfair considering these panels are less than a year old and I presumed we'd be benefitting from them now and the weather after being so good .John Moran

Great sales and abysmal customer support. Left for months without solar production on our panels. Long hold when you call and promises of call-backs that never happen. Takes weeks to get a technician out while they happily install new panels for our neighbours. Could not recommend.

I am currently a customer of Bord Gais and decided to get solar fitted with them and to be installed by Swyft Energy who the recently acquired. Swyft Energy are one of the most professional contractors I have ever dealt with from the lead up to the install and throughout the install. The two electricians who came out to the install were so pleasant and knowledgeable about solar installs and had so much respect for my house when working there. The install took two days and was done exactly to my specifications and even when they had to remove a washing line from an external wall because it was in the way they asked where I wanted it to be moved to and then reinstalled it there. When they left they went through the whole system with me and one of them left me his mobile number in case I had any questions. The cleaned up the whole area before they went and left no rubbish at all behind them. Best two guys I have ever worked with. Regarding the roofers who I really didnt have much dealings with as to the fact they were on my roof for the whole day but met them before they left and they were the nicest guys ever and yet again tidied up everything.
To conclude - if you are looking for solar use this company as they are so experienced and so professional

the company spent time explaining how solar energy works, and how the system is designed, so that we knew all the options available including cost associated with each and recommendation for what would be best for our particular context. This was invaluable.
From then, once we signed up for having solar panels fitted, the team were very well organised and cooridnated, and both the fitment team, and electrical team were such a pleasure to deal with and were clearly professional in their approach as well as conscientious in their work for us. Swyft Energy recently installed a new gas boiler in my home, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. From the first contact to the final handover, everything was handled with real professionalism. The installation team arrived on time, worked efficiently, and kept the place spotless throughout. They explained what they were doing at each stage, which gave me great confidence in the quality of the work.

I was very impressed with the professionalism of all the staff I dealt with. from the initial on line enquiry to the installation of my new system. The office staff Tim and Aoife were brilliant to deal with and very reassuring answering any question I had instantly. I was told that the engineer Ciaran would be out around 08:30 for the day of install. He arrived around 08:20 worked the whole morning without a break until completion of the boiler and system checks at app 14:30. His workmanship was brilliant and very professional. I was very impressed with the SWYFT Energy company.

From the initial meeting with Owen in Swift Energy to the installation and commissioning process, I must say everything ran seamlessly and with a smile. very efficient process to get my solar panels ordered and installed. Really easy to have all the paperwork set-up and grant applied for and the install team were excellent including Rory and Calib the electricians and the roofing team. All very polite and professional and a really clean job done. Couldn't recommend the guys highly enough.....

Just had a new boiler installed with swift energy. I would definitely recommend this company. They are quick,efficient , friendly, good value and they left the area where they worked clean afterward. The whole process from start to finish was easy and stress free.

Signed up with Bord Gais not knowing they had bought Swift energy, so was a little surprised to see so many bad reviews.

I am not sure if being just a small company to now being part of a National brand has made a huge difference, but I suspect it did, as my whole experience from clicking a link on the Bord Gais Web site to the instillation and connection of my panels to the grid was top notch.

I threatened the electricians that my wife would hunt them down if the wiring looked messey in any way, and not only does it look great outside, it is hard to see anything out of place in the attic.

So would I recommend this company? The answer is a yes for sure.
